  1. I see a tweet from @LedZepNews that Francis and the one attorney for Zeppelin were back at
it again in San Francisco at the United States court of appeals 9th district.  Same ol'  Stairway
vs Taurus copyright stuff.  I thought this whole thing was dead and buried?

Francis is still a worm in a suit.  I forgot how douche baggy he is.

  2. I wish we could hear from John Paul Jones from time to time.  It's all always Page or Plant
being asked  Led Zeppelin stuff.  I know most Zep related things go to Page first for obvious
reasons,  but it feels like Jones is never included.   Over all the interviews these guys have
given,   I have found Jones  the one who just answers  easy and simple.    "What time is it
    Jones?"   "1:30 pm"
Robert  speaks in riddles and games with his answer where you can
speculate all 24 hours in the day as to the time and Page  answers with a vague statement
that goes around in a circle unrelated to the question.    In other words Jimmy and Plant's
answers always turn into a speculation thread of no actual info about anything.  I am seeing
that now in relation to their 50th anniversary about what could happen.  Hahaha  and yes I too
    have contributed to those specs.
   ^_^

But anyways just wish somebody in the media would talk to Jones and ask him some stuff
about his old band and what might be happening.  He'd probably be a bit more straight forward.

  3. Speaking of Ronnie.  Maybe it's only me who thinks this,  but in the handful of interviews I
have heard with Ronnie,   he always has this tone that's he's not an official Stones member.  I
can't pin point it exactly,  because it's not a bold statement,  rather his attitude.   Whenever
he's asked about playing with the Mick and Keith,  he acts like he's still a newbie or a rookie
that should be in awe that he's been asked play with the cool kids.  The word inferior comes
    to mind.

He speaks the way Jason Bonham would about Led Zeppelin;  how it's a great honor and
privilege to have been invited to play with a legendary band and musicians - which is rather
over the top in Ronnie's case since he's been in the band for over 43 years.  Do Mick and Keith
contribute to this?  I'm under that impression in a way.   Those above who mention Keith's
    ego - Yes agreed too!

  4. Keith is talking out of both sides of his mouth,  or at least I felt that way at first.  He says
Jimmy  Page is one of the most brilliant  guitarist  he's ever known,   yet he's not impressed with
Led Zeppelin.  Whaaattt!?!?   Page's guitar work IS Led Zeppelin.  That brilliancy was
demonstrated in Zep's music.   How can you give such a compliment only to yank it away
    Keith?!?
    :smack:

Well for me  I have to compare his comments to how I view Adele.  I think she has a gifted and
beautiful voice,   but I have ZERO desire to listen to her songs.  Her music does nothing for me.  I
know she's extremely popular,  and her voice is very  powerful,   but nope nada  no  enjoyment
from her albums.  It is possible to find a guitarist or singer very talented,  yet get nothing in return
from their music.  Strange as that sounds.

Now here comes the tomatoes ready to be thrown at my head if your more pro Keith than
Jimmy.  I do think there is a form of jealousy.  Keith has made his name in music,  so you could
say he has no reason to be.  Sadly for the these guys their egos rear their ugly heads for
whatever reason.   Maybe as an artist  Keith  hasn't  been as  influential on the guitar as Page
has been to those guitarist that followed afterwards?   How many people picked up a guitar
because of Jimmy Page verses Keith Richards?

This comparison between The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin.  Why?  How do you compare
these two bands fairly?   The Stones have 55 years under their belt with  writing,   recording
and touring  across the world.  Over half of a century!!!   Zeppelin had 12.   The Stones have
been able maximize their exposure  because of the longevity of the band.  People in the 80s
90s  20s  at some time have been exposed to the Stones purposely or not.   Each decade
granted them a new way to connect with fans.  80s/90s MTV music video era,  American award
shows,  and hellooo the internet!   I can't face these two groups off.  There are too many
factors that make the playing field uneven.   The window of comparison imo is small.  British
guys all kind of  influenced  by  black American musicians,   40s decade born,   frontmen who
pranced and sashayed about wearing really really tight  stuff around their genitals and smack
addicted guitarists.  The rest is off the table for me.

  5. ^^

Very true!  Well then I have no clue what events could take place.  Page has retired from
playing in public and Robert declines all ideas of working with the other two.  All of that is
fine,  but it does not leave much in the way of big events.  2012 brought them over here to
accept the Kennedy award and also Celebration promoting correct?

    Wait and see eh!  :)

  6. What are these high profile events Page is talking about?  Where would these events take
place?  I'm guessing home for them in the UK.   Is there a UK version of  America's Kennedy
Center Honors?  Celebs and people with money hanging out in a venue talking about what
Led Zeppelin brought to the music scene over the past 50 years.  We know they are not playing
    together!

  7. Is this going to be basically Jimmy on his own plugging whatever they have planned
for the 50th or will Plant and Jones also be promoting? It's been what 2012 since
all 3 sat down and did a joint project together.  That was for the Celebration release
    right?

Looks like nothing 'official' will start until Sept 2018 according to @LedZepNews on
    Twitter.

  8. I can believe it's father and son,  but damn something about the photo looks doctored.
When you ENLARGE the picture the sunglasses look more like something has been blacked
out and not symmetrical eye wear, and his one hand looks fake. If it's due to the transformation
of a 50 year old image from black and white into color, than I say he's rocking a wig. With all the
online images there are of Bonham, wouldn't there be others of him and this faux 'fro? A curling
iron and hairspray wouldn't work. Only a chemcical perm using rods would achieve an afro
style with his type of hair. This would mean he would have been sporting an afro for a couple of
months - hence the word 'permanent'.

    Cool photo regardless tho!
    :D

  9. OP: Did you put this collection together?? A fair amount are Jimmy, albeit many are
repetitive screen captures from videos on Youtube. Others are definitely not him. For
example image number 12 and 32.

    (12) Most Led Zeppelin fans have common knowledge that Page has never been in the
military. Why would he be in the United States Marine Corps? Besides the obvious of it
being an American branch. You don't exactly look at Page and say Oorah

    (32) Jimmy Page and Opie Taylor look-a-like are not the same people. The boy standing
with the baby and young girl with his pants rolled up above the ankles looks like a kid whose
parents make moonshine in the Appalachian mountain region of West Virginia.

I'm all for moonshine and Semper Fi  in case somebody mistook my comments as negative!
    :drinks:

  10. On the subject of Jason Bonham.

I know things like addiction whether cigs,  alcohol or drugs can be genetic or influenced by
who you surround yourself with,   so I'm not surprised Jason in his youth was this loud mouth
drunk,   but in some of these interviews it sounds like he was told that imitating 'road'  John was
what he was supposed to do and not because he himself was an actual bar stool throwing
    drunk.

John while touring with Zep had that reputation - off the road not so much.  Jason was what..
15 when his father died.  He should know there was more than just THAT side.   It's as if he
picked up a Richard Cole type book on Led Zeppelin  tales and started acting out the John
Bonham bits - TV tossing and all.   I dunno maybe I'm not making sense.  Let's blame it on this
fish bowl sized glass of Cabernet I'm drinking.  Ha!
    :lol::beer:

As far as Jason's talent as a drummer.  One thing we know for sure is John Bonham was a big
lovin' family guy.  After the Oakland incident involving Peter Grant's son,  I think at one point in
John Bonham's life he would have no issues introducing his fist to somebody's face if they said
something insulting about his sons skills as a drummer  Yikes!
    :o

To the original poster.  I probably gave my answer already,  but if not.  Yes I believe they made
the best choice to end when John died.

  11. Stairway To Heaven  legal shit again?  I saw this movie in  June of 2016.  I liked the ending,
however I don't want to see the sequel.

Skidmore,  the two sisters and Francis...Siiiighhh.   Judge Klausner gave them their shot.  A
very generous one allowing it to actually get its day in court too.  They had opportunity to
gather evidence and present it.  What more should the jury take into consideration?   Get
another Spirit fan to testify they saw what they believed was a raccoon pawing and eating
Randy's garbage only to realize 50 years later it was actually Jimmy looking for music
compositions to steal.  Or maybe Skidmore swears up and down he saw an evergreen bush
beside an outdoor toilet at a Spirit gig and he believes it was in the shape of Robert Plant. That
would tell the jury Plant was listening to their set-list  and getting musical ideas to lift and
take back to camp Zep.  Guilty right!?!?

Oh and Randy's sisters.  I'm sure they are Skidmore's biggest cheerleaders.  I need to take a
moment and vent about those two.   Those women are wolves in sheep's clothing.  No
disrespect aimed at  Randy for losing his life to save is son;  that's both tragic and very heroic,
but in a music copyright case it has no spot in the trial.  There is no reason for the jury to know
that,  other than to try and garner sympathy votes.  Last June both sister's stood outside
the court house speaking to the media while holding up a gigantic picture of Randy with their
mother.   It was quite obvious what they were hoping to achieve.  They wanted to vilify Led
    Zeppelin
as these wealthy stealing musicians and small little folk like Randy California
deserved some of that money all because his life ended tragically in the 90s and a  'charity'  is
in his name.  They wanted people to draw some sort of connecting line between the two.
Sorry there isn't a line between Stairway writing credits,  the type of son or father Randy
California was,  or how he passed away.   Like I said above a very heroic act regarding his son,
but quite skeevy to use it as a way to get a pay-day.  I am glad Judge Klausner made sure that
had no impact on the jury's decision.   The decision was based on musical notes on a paper.

If someone is deserving by all means give them their reward,  but we don't have that here do
we.   This case just rubs you the wrong way,   especially when you read Francis and is merry
band are STILL at it after the jury ruled in Zep's favor.

Here's hoping this is one very last desperate attempt from that side that will go unanswered.

"I figure Plant and Jones got on well during ITTOD as they had more in common with each other at that particular moment in time,  but once Zep ended they drifted apart"

I thought so too before I started reading things over the years.  I never thought Jones and
Plant had an overly close relationship outside of the studio though.  Page and Plant that's a
different story.  But it didn't matter who hung out with who since they all came together on
the stage and that's where it counted most.

As far as them working closely for I T T O D.  I wanna say the drug circle of hell that Page and
Bonham were trapped inside of,   probably helped push Robert and Jones together.  You
never hear either say anything fondly about working together at that time.  Depending on the
interview whenever Jones speaks about I T T O D  he never praises it.  He doesn't bash it
to death either,  but several times you can tell by some of his words it doesn't come across
like it was a high point in his Zep timeline.  It's hard to tell if he means the album itself,  the
fact Page and Bonham were in bad shape or all above.  Maybe that's when he came to
realize he and Robert clashed too much. Not as noticeable when all 4 were working  regularly
    together.

I wish I could remember where I saw it.  An interview where he takes his words back a
couple of times and made it sound like the album would have turned out differently if
circumstances had been different. I think he could tell the interviewer was about to take his
initial words and ask  "Was I T T O D  a disappointment for you or the band?  Because he very
quickly added in the record happened the way it did because of his new toy and both Robert
and he had already had several tracks laid out.
     Then usual babble we get with how I T T O D
    came to be.

  13. Knock knock knock hello?  Anybody..

I was half kidding when I brought it up,  but nah now I want to know. Any story behind the
naked plastic doll thing pinned to Jimmy's lapel in the above image.  I don't care make one
up if you have to.  HA!

I don't profess to know what was going on behind the scenes, but I believe Page was desperate to work with Plant again (that's become even more apparent in the years since), and Robert was calling the shots.

That in my mind very much continues today -  even though the whole Page /Plant work
relationship was over years ago.   James Patrick puts all of his eggs into the Zeppelin basket
and that puts the end to any activity with other musical artists - especially Robert.  On No
    Quarter
if Jones had been involved,  I don't think Jimmy would have cared if people
mistakenly identified or attached Zep's name to it either. (I know it wasn't)  That would have
only been corrected for Plant.   There would have been so many rules though, or Plant would
have put the end to it.

At the end of the day, the Jones snub hasn't aged well.  The fact that he apparently found out about it in the papers, and subsequent disrespectful Plant "quips", weren't a good look for P/P.  That said, I went anyway and was glad I did.  But I wouldn't blame Jones one bit if that era still sticks in his craw.

Speaking of Jonesy being upset still.  In the interview that was linked on here a short bit ago
he was saying how happy he was to be working with Jimmy again. This was after London O2
of course.  That made me sig
    :console:

    ************************************************************************

Reading through some old threads on here I noticed our opinions can and do change.  The
Jones No Quarter  thing has some who were understanding of why Plant did what he
did,  turn around later and see it as something rather off-putting.  Perhaps views may have
changed after Plant said he wouldn't be a part of whatever Jimmy,  Jones and Jason had
cooking.  This was a golden opportunity and AGAIN Plant played the roll of giant party
    pooper.  I'll shut up
because as much I see those who nit pick on the lack of Jimmy output
these days,  the other side (like me :shifty:) are guilty of pointing the finger at Plant for something.

Original poster! Well done! The board often becomes a snooze atmosphere and sometimes
a topic like this can spark a lively opinionated conversation!
    :drinks:

  15. I think these questions get brought up by those who maybe like the idea of hearing thoughts
from other Zeppelin fans on the actual Zeppelin board rather than Google random sites.
Sometimes asking on here is so much better  since a lot of you guys can provide fantastic info.
I don't overly believe somebody is asking in hopes of  getting  people riled up.

I don't think there was ever a "Jones and Plant"  thing even with the making of In Through The
    Out Door.
That was smoke and mirrors.  They were working more closely in the studio opposed
to Page and Plant because Jimmy was in bed with smack.  Bonham too was in bad shape

As to why Jones was not included?  It was never meant to be a reunion and having Jones there
would have made it that way.  I think it hit a sour notes because they worked on Zeppelin
songs.... songs that Jones had a hand in writing.   I do believe  Page would have been fine with
Jones being a part of  the No Quarter project,   but at that time he probably didn't want to rock
the boat with Plant.  I  read an interview  AFTER the O2 from Jones.  Like Strider says,  it took time
and Jones wasn't happy,  but he said he has moved on and it's now water under the bridge.

  16. Robert at the very least was able to get on musically a lot faster than Page was after Bonham's
death.   Jimmy between 80 and 83 was so sickly :(  Some of the photos taken of Page in
those years are sad to see.  Haha
^_^ I say some and not all because hey sue me,  I can always find
something appealing about the dude even during those dark years.

I wonder what Bonham would have done musically if he had lived.  I kind of get the feeling
he would have enjoyed just chillin' at home with Pat and when the call came to revive the
band for a reunion he would have gladly joined in after some rest.  I can't picture him doing a solo
project.  Although his voice in my opinion was quite decent.

  17. :threadjacked:

Alright so people are discussing lost shows and mystery gigs.  I don't know where to put this.
The search function doesn't come up with anything that answers my question and I don't
have extensive knowledge of their tours like S A J and some others do.

What is the reason Led Zeppelin never added the city of Miami to their US tours?

A huge metropolis and cosmopolitan city, with the venues to accomodate large sporting
events and musical concerts. They certainly had the demographic to support them as well,
    sooo what gives?

Were they worried about drugs?   That's the only thing I can come up with and that's pretty weak
considering they played in California where the flow up illegal stuff ran freely from Mexico.

  18. Nope I knew you what you were referring to with Plant. :D  He has shown that he doesn't
need to fall back on his Zeppelin roots to survive in the music world....or has he?
    :shifty:   He sure
likes to have his set list be  filled with Zeppelin.   And to be honest I think if he could sing them
like like did 40 years ago he would.

Okay I need to stop while I'm ahead. We have 1000 threads dedicated to Robert mucking up the
reunion.  I'm sitting firmly on the side that says blame Plant for that.   Even though there was
never a promise ,  somebody has to be the scapegoat and he's the fall guy for me.  Not Page.
    Not Jones

The one thing I would have liked to have seen from Zeppelin if they had taken a hiatus and came
back is the introduction to some extra musicians.  It would always be originally a 4 man group,  but
from time to time a few extra bodies for some songs would not have hurt.

  19. What a prickly mess.  Why does Plant need his solo career to be bigger than Led Zeppelin?  Is
his ego that delicate?   Does he despise the fact the largest part of his musical career is
forever glued to Jimmy?  He doesn't want to admit his highest achievements in music stem
from something he can no longer recapture?  I'm guessing here.   What's interesting is he won
several Grammy's with Alison,   but even with that media was still addressing him  as the
"Former Lead Singer of Led Zeppelin."   It does not mean his output as a solo artist was not
successful,   however when you think of Robert Plant your first thought is Zeppelin -  Not solo
artist,   or front guy for the Space Shifters or Band of Joy singer.    Those are more of a  "And
don't forget  Mr. Plant was part of these musical projects too!!
    "   That must irk Robert,

I don't believe Plant tuned down a 2008 reunion tour out of respect for Bonzo.  If he did John
Bonham would be rollin' in his grave.   The bands breakup in 1980 yes most definitely fit that
criteria -  but not 35 plus years later.   My god if Bonzo could speak from the grave,   I bet he
would be absolutely giddy to see Jason as the drummer for Zeppelin.  In fact anybody who
would tell John Bonham you know it's disrespectful for your memory  is  getting a few dirty
looks from the sky.    Everyone knows how vital his role was in the band.   Having the 3 play
with his son does not weaken that and Plant is crazy if he thought Bonzo would agree with that.

I do hate that Plant is this weird  ass form of an Achilles Heel for Jimmy.   Because really he is.
Jimmy would come out of retirement if Plant said: Call up Jones and Jason and strap on the
    double neck.
Then again Plant has his strangeness too.   He loves to sing Zeppelin songs and
have his set list be full of the Zep catalogue as long as nobody in his band are former Zeppelin
members.  Was there not an invitation from Robert for  Jimmy to work with him post O2,   but
the stipulation was it couldn't be anything related to Zeppelin-ish sounding music?  I could be
crossing wires with that though.   Forgive me.

  21. Everyone probably has their own feelings on when things were going sour for Led Zeppelin.
I tag the dinosaur comment at bit later in Zep's timeline.  When Physical Graffiti  was written
and released it was when all cylinders were clicking.  The material for P G is phenomenal and
they had just introduced their very own record label Swan Song.   They were in a good place
then.   The negative would be the tax exile situation that was surfacing  its ugly head for
those who called England home.   The terrible black cloud of doom that some say started to
follow the band around had not surfaced at that point.  I know after Robert's car accident in
1975 things were rocky,   however that was after Physical Graffiti  had been written and
released and they did manage to climb back up on the horse in 1976 to put together
Presence,  even though  some cracks were starting to show.

1977 onward with the hiring of goon Bindon:thumbdown: which in return created the Oakland fiasco.
The excessive use of drugs from top to bottom in the entire Zeppelin camp.  I know drugs
were always a pivotal part of musicians  life,   but it wasn't wearing its toll on members the way
    it did come 1977.

The dinosaur comment  I always align with Knebworth and the things that came after that.  In
Through The Out Door and 1980 in Europe.   Robert probably grew tired of it all during the
latter part of  1977.   A parent losing a child is obviously going to take a huge toll mentally and
physically on your body.  That was when the kingdom started to crumble for Robert.

Technically, he's only suspended in Pennsylvania, and it's for three months and one day. However, the way things work in California, since he is currently not in good standing in Pennsylvania he would not be allowed to practice law there in California. I think most states would work the same. But I'm not sure that being suspended would legally prevent him from flapping his pie hole anywhere.

Thank you for explaining  Balthazor!!! :thanku::D
3 months is not nearly long enough for him.

Help me understand why Francis is giving statements regarding the current status of  the
case,  when he is suspended for 6 months.   I don't understand how he can be the one
representing the plaintiff at this point.  Is he only suspended in a certain US state?  For
example:   Filing legal documents like an appeal from Chicago IL is allowed. Standing inside a
courtroom with his large pie hole flapping in Los Angeles CA is not.
