Recommended Zep silver labels,....mmm A can of worms, if you ask me.

25/30  years ago I would have recommended Jelly Roll, Silver Rarities, the original Scorpio, Dynamite Studio's/Midas touch, The Diagrams of Led Zeppelin and maybe half a dozen others. These labels are all defunct and the more elite labels such as Empress Valley or Tarantura all have their fair share of issues (brick walling,  expensive,...).  The One label operating from Japan (and one of the most controversial, but -thankfully also the cheapest by a huge margin!) is Moonchild .

For a newbie their catalog  is hard to resist. Although their packaging is basic and their slimline cases very vulnerable, I think Moonchild is ticking most boxes if you want to collect a nice live Zep catalog.

`Supposedly a spin off Empress Valley franchise, they often dig into the fan remasters (Winstons, matrixes,...) but also budget re issues from Empress Valley.

I know a lot of my fellow Zepheads here will condemn me, but I can only say this is the safest and cheapest route to the Zep Underground discography. Check out Brannon's Bootledz labels inventory for an exhaustive Moonchild overview. If multiple releases exist from a specific date, the most recent  ones, are the most recommended (Kutabare Moonchild for Osaka 929 for instance). Good luck!

To add some: Moonchild is a label pretty easy to buy, where on the other hand labels such as EVSD or Tarantura 2K are much more difficult to obtain let alone the fact they often sell out within minutes after release and most copies are sold in Japan. These 2 labels are pretty expensive, also due to the fact of limited releases (sometimes 50 copies!)

Other labels from Duckman's list are almost impossible to buy when you're a newbie. I've got some SiRa's, TDOLZ's, TCOLZ's, 2 Jelly's, 4X Butamark 06-23-1977 (just for the cartoon cover), 4X Akashic.

'Till april 6th 2022 it was possible for EU and GB residents to buy these labels through https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp but it's been cut off by Yahoo Japan.

    Happy collecting!

Do you know if the recording that was used for this lp is the version I remastered, or is it the regular mono soundboard? Here's a sample of the one I did

I'm sorry Steve, I can't tell you yet as the album is still on its way to me

the fort worth boot , open your heart to fw , there were 30 test pressings in addition to the regular releases ( 300 ) , think that is what is being referred too

Yes indeed, that's correct! 350 numbered copies plus an additional 30 "test pressing copies".

BTW: Open your heart to Fort Worth is said to be from this show: https://www.ledzeppelin.com/show/tarrant-county-convention-center-march-3-1975

  6. "The Casino Records" label is due to release the Jimmy Page and Robert Plant performance at the 1995 Glastonbury Festival. A 2LP yellow vinyl release I'm told.
Last week I received "Malacum Salaam" and "Does Anyone Remember Hampton?"
  7. While "Susquehanna" is playing on the stereo I'm enjoying the box and all cd's lying in front of me on the table. Such a beautiful, rigid box I haven't seen for a while.

I have the original EVSD "Deep Throat", "Supreme Destroyers" and "For Badge Holders Only" boxes, but the cd's for the different days are housed in a paper sleeve, part of a more or less rigid book or (for FBO) or ordinary gatefold sleeves. These boxes compared to the "Kurofune" don't feel as firm.

I look at it like this, whilst there's collectors willing to fork out a $1,000 for a set then it's probably still worth groups like Tarantura's time to release these sets even knowing that they'll be all over the net in just a few days. So a big thank you to those with big wallets. Much appreciated.

For the Japanese market Tarantura is probably releasing some "Special Promo Edition Box - sets", limited to a mere 10 or 20 sets each (Commodore and Guitarist set). And yes these set are very expensive: $ 1.100,-

The standard box -sets are limited to 100 sets each and are a bit less expensive: just like Tainted Cheese said $ 470,- which is (give and take) $ 27,- / cd!

I bet you paid more for some cd's in your collection. I know I have and for this exquisite set I'm happily paying a bit more.

Providence is always held in high esteem. In the early nineties the original Tarantura release 'LZ Rider' featured this show in very good (but not excellent) quality. Especially   No Quarter is regarded as one of the best ever. You might want to check out Black Beauty first, before buying  a silver release (the No Label folks released the show fairly recently, from a first gen tape copy). An excellent show right up there with Seattle, Detroit, MSG, LA,..., but the sound is a tad too harsh for my 60+ old ears 🧐

8 titles are mentioned on "Black Beauty"...

and on BootLedZ.com 6 titles are discussed

Yes, and it’s because previous releases of Rock Carnival are horribly processed for most of the tape.

Too bad it’s being released on Tarantura which means they’ll just EQ the raw tape further…

I thought Enigma (whoever he might be) was doing a very nice job on remastering a show ever since "Bath of the Blues" December 2019.

Or are there any better versions of the shows he/she/it has done? If so, I'd like to know.

  11. I've been looking up some transcriptions on http://www.rambleonzep.com and found a few mentions of 'Heineken' by Robert, but in a more general way.

Just one time he's referring to Bonzo in a some kind of nickname way

03-27-1975: "...John Paul Jones, grand piano and Heineken beer..."

05-30-1977: "...The very warm, the very Heineken, John Bonham, Over The Top!..."

06-21-1977: "...The man who drinks Heineken..."

06-22-1977: "...Mr Bonham has now gone to see the man who distributes Heineken..."

06-25-1977: "...Bring to the front of the stage Mr John Henry, John Henry Heineken Bonham, on the left there..."
