  1. Hi 'Magic'

We now have a name 'Leonidas'.. Leo for short....:D His weight is 7lb 30z

An auspicious name- Leo is appropriate for his birthdate as well. Congrats! Spoil him, then send him home- that is most enjoyable. ;)

  2. A day floating on the river with my daughter, son-in-law and his kids and my son among the cypress trees. Ice cold water and 102 degrees F in the shade. A picnic and some ice cold beer in the cooler. I'm slightly sunburned, but it was a great day. I work 6am-2:30pm then 11:30pm-8:00am tomorrow (my boss is deranged). Enjoying today was essential. B)

  3. Deaths and diagnoses, they all just seem to suck the big one.

I really suck at words so all I will say is pray for what you can, to whom ever you will.

We are all music lovers here, go spin some of that musical healing.

    Teebo

I humbly suggest that the friend should seek a second opinion.

  4. We just moved. I went through clothes and donated a box of clothes to Salvation Army. They really DO good things for others. I feel that the poor actually ARE clothed when I donate to them.

I wish I had more time to actively participate in good deeds. I find that I'm tired from working at the hospital and my best is given there. I guess all things have limits.

But, on the bright side, I'm off tomorrow. :yay:

  5. What do you mean? What happened to bring you to that point? If you would rather not say I understand but Im curious.

As I said, I am a RN. I work with people who are dying, or those who have been revived after their heart stopped. Their reports, as well as experiences that I had at ages 21 and 26 while critically ill, have convinced me that there is an level of consciousness (for lack of a better description) that we are usually not aware of and many persons don't believe in.

I'm not certain whether I want to expand with truly descriptive information or not. My mother doubted my experience when I described it to her, until I described a dog I saw that had died before I was born sitting at the feet of a long deceased relative. I never knew this dog existed prior to my experience.

Strange stuff. But not every thing in life has a ready explanation. B)

  6. I believe that Near Death Experiences actually occur and are more than simply a misfiring of the neurons at the point of death. I think that there is a sensory plane that we are not always aware of /in tune with.

I am a RN, have had many patients that have been close to death and passed on. I also have personally experienced the NDE years ago- it was awesome.

  7. I've only tried trap once and hit one out of 25. Damn, those 12 guages kick like a mule.

Today I had two old fashioned do-nuts.

    :D

We went dove hunting the next day. I got a dove in flight at 25 yards (about 25 meters) and a nice bruise on my shoulder as well. B)

I bought a recoil absorber for the butt of the gun. Haven't tried it out yet.

I'm a "girly girl". My husband proudly announced my marksmanship to a man who asked if I was planning to "try hunting out." LOL B)

  8. Listening to recordings of my son playing "Voodoo Chile" and "Little Wing" at an open mic night when he was 16. His current band will be touring soon, but they're a metal group. You can't tell I am proud of him can you? :D

So I have to listen to recordings for what I think he is best at. Unless I convince him to play for me. B)

  9. The day before yesterday, I finally found a torrent for a Zep bootleg I've been looking for for months. But when it started downloading, there was only one seed, and it said it would take 14 days. 24 hours later, I had about 7% of it.

When I checked it this morning, there were 2 seeds, and it was coming down 10x faster. No idea why, but there you go. And this evening, it completed. Yay!

Also, I found some price-reduced Quorn Fajitas today. Was £2.50, reduced to 30p. So I bought 3 packets. Very nice! Looks like vegetarians aren't insane after all!

What are Quorn Fajitas? Not something native to Texas I would venture. Does it even come on hooves originally? B)

  10. My daughter was married on Saturday. The wedding went without a glitch.

After the dress fiasco, it was a great relief. She had custom ordered a dress from China. It arrived with the waist and top measurements reversed. The alteration attempts caused the satin to ravel. Nothing like a wedding dress problem to cause distress. Oh, well, the replacement dress was many times more beautiful. We were fortunate to find a sale price that blew our minds.

This past week was so much fun, rehearsal dinner, the wedding, the reception and then the dance afterward. B)

  11. My Hawaiian Punch and Kool Aid arrived today. In powdered form. So I immediately mixed up a batch of Fruit Juicy Red, which used to be my favourite when I lived in the US in the 60s and 70s.

Surprise surprise - it tastes NOTHING LIKE it used to taste :(

We used to buy it in cans. Can you still get it in cans in the US???

Are you using the proper amount of water to mix it? Umm, actually, the water could be the entire problem there. Water tastes different in the UK than the States. Could be the difference in the taste there.

  12. Thanks, ninelives! smile.gif

There is so much snow piled up around here that I don't know where they are going to put the snow that they remove from the roads after we get this next big snowfall tomorrow and Wednesday. It will indeed be difficult trecking around in it.

I am wishing for snow. Most of my family have relocated back to snow country and I'm wistful for some colder weather. Try to enjoy the snow. There is a special magic in the frost. B)

  13. A beautiful day today. I'm off work this weekend to enjoy it. I actually MISS the colder weather in the winter. I thought the snow flurries we had on Christmas Eve were enjoyable. In Texas we go from 108F summer days to 7F winter days at times. No boredom here. LOL. :D

  14. I always wanted to try the skeets, what did you use for target practice long gun or pistol?

Here's a clip of me testing my Thompson "sweet and simple" cool.gifbiggrin.gif it's quite heavy with a 50rnd drum on itohmy.gif

Used a 20 gauge. It was a lot of fun. I think someone is buying me a 20 gauge for Christmas. It will have to be kid size. My arms aren't long enough to hold a full size gun correctly. I did get some good groupings with the targets even though it was a full size gun.

  15. First, to ~tangerine~... thanks! For those who don't know, last weekend was the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanna) and this weekend was the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur). Now I'm not a particularly religious Jew myself (ask me sometime how I feel about religion... and I hope you feel the same way or we'll fight for hours), but I find the traditions quite beautiful. So... thanks!

(And boy did I have a lot to atone for this year! :o:slapface:;):D)

Second... ZFF's posts actually make me happy. He's a very positive person. Yes, that can be annoying sometimes, but with so much darkness in the world, occasional light is a good thing, and ZFF definitely shines light. So I say thank you to ZFF for his posts.

Finally... I have something to post in here for once...

My Statistics teacher. My financial aid has yet to come thru, so I have no money to pay for my semester, yet. My Statistics teacher has gone the extra mile to make sure I can still take my tests and do well despite not being able to afford my books or materials needed for the class. If I fail tomorrow's (today's) test (at 10:00 AM), I am only failing myself and her. Wish me luck, everyone!

Good luck Nathan! Just remember your formulas and you will do well. B)

  16. Well Faaarrr Out there pardner! B)

    That's great news.

I've been worried about you folks down there.

Didn't some places go like 60 days with no rain?

Yes, it did go for 60 days without rain. The strange part is that we are located in a semi-tropical area. I can usually grow hibiscus, rubber trees and other tropical plants in my yard without much trouble.

  17. That sounds cool - did he make it or you don't know yet?

He was third in this level. Only two go to the next step though. This was his first competition. He's 17, has been self taught over the past three years and just started a few (3)lessons. His progress so far is on his natural ability. I recorded the event. He rocks. B)

  18. We found my runaway black lab puppies. Now I'm building a gate to quarantine them to a limited area of my yard. All three of my dogs are sooo spoiled. They even have their own kiddie pool. It is over 100 F here frequently, so I can't imagine wearing a fur coat in this heat without a method to cool down.

The elder dog looked at the babies as if to say "You're in trouble." But even he seemed happy to see the wanderers. :D
