Holy shit, can't believe I'm just now stumbling upon this. Almost brings a tear to my eye that there's no recording of this....

Why In Through The Out Door is a GREAT album
LedElvis75 replied to Charles J. White's topic in Led Zeppelin Master Forum
The last 2 minutes or so of Carouselambra are great (starting at Bonzo's fills at 8:08, but I especially love the last minute). Bonham is just going crazy and the tension is just fantastic. Has always been one of my favorite parts of any Zep tune. Evidence that Zep could still bring (a bit of) the Hammer of The Gods when it wanted to. -

Really-REALLY-love this album. Page's solos are incendiary. The crunch of his solos in INE, the one in SBS you mentioned, and IGC... which is simply beautiful. And yeah, SBS... no matter how many times I try to keep time with Bonzo I manage to F it up. I just can't figure it out. His drumming on that entire album is fantastic. -

I didn't stop to think about the post too much. You're right. Still a great last album that gets dumped on too much by critics. ITTOD is fantastic. -

Boy... I've never thought of it THAT way. The greatest last album a band, ANY BAND, ever released. Wow. How true is that?????? -

I've rediscovered this album recently. Have fallen back in love with it all over again. Substitute Wearing For Tearing for Hot Dog and it's a Killer F'ing album all the way thru. -
Not a huge fan of the this live, but going to give this a listen. Thanks. The studio version is just brilliant. You ever "reconnect" with a Zep tune after some time off? This and The Epic (which should've been used on the official release)... recently, just can't get enough of either of these songs.

What's the worst live performance of a song?
LedElvis75 replied to gibsonfan159's topic in Led Zeppelin Live
Yeah-a little bit. Went and listened to it again and Jimmy is a little weak. Bonzo is magnificent (as usual in 77) which hides a lot of Jimmy's sloppiness. -

I've always stayed away from this one. This and Greensboro 75. Too much of a diehard fanboy to listen to arguably their two worst shows. Will. Not. Do. It!!!! -

Bonzo's fills are so fast and clean it's remarkable. ALS might be my favorite version. Never understood the reviews Luis Rey gave these 2 shows.

Professionally filmed Led Zeppelin concerts
LedElvis75 replied to Geezer's topic in Led Zeppelin Master Forum
Very true. I don't expect it to ever happen... but it could/would be monumental if it did. And I've said it many times before... why won't Jimmy release audio of STH and TU from the 24th?! They are INCREDIBLE versions. -

A best-of Earl's Court album/release would be KILLER. Even if it's just from the 24th/25th. The first 1/3 of the 25th is spectacular stuff. The band is on FIRE. You could mix up the middle 1/3 with both nights (NQ and TU would undoubtedly be taken from the 24th), then end it with the D&C and STH from the 24th with the encores from the 25th. That's a long, HEAVY, and at times BRILLIANT compilation of live music/performances. So: RnR - 5/25 SA - 5/25 OTHAFA - 5/25 IMTOD - 5/25 TSRTS - 5/25 TRS - 5/25 K - 5/24 NQ - 5/24 (Definitive version) Tangerine - 5/24 GTC - 5/24 TTW - 5/24 BYStomp - 5/25 TU - 5/24 (Definitive version) MD - 5/25 D&C - 5/24 STH - 5/24 (Definitive version) WLL/BD - 5/25 H - 5/25 CB - 5/25 A couple of these picks could be easily switched... If Page ever put something like this out it would be an amazing live release. I'll even just take the audio of it. -
AMEN!

Fascinating. What year(s) would this have been?

I was playing the first couple numbers from 4/27/77 Destroyer... TSRTS and then The Rover/Sick Again at a tailgate party at Notre Dame last fall when a guy started yelling from 3 aisles away, "That's Zep in 77! That's Zep in 77!" Came over and had me play the entire Disc 1 and then Achilles as he pounded beers, telling me all about the Pontiac show he attended "3 days later!" Had a blast with the guy.
