  1. Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah, Zepheads.
  2. Joe is an awesome guitarist. He also seems like a really good guy.
  3. My son turned 18 today. His old educated hippie reboot parents took him for his first tattoo. He designed it himself. I love it.
  4. A little break in the humidity, but a warm early Fall, so far. A nice walk at the Arboretum this evening.
  5. Both of these guys are Titans. I think Page was a little more versatile in terms of writing music and musical style. Hendrix rewrote the rule book on how to play an electric guitar. The guy was full of blues, soul, and psychedelic riffs, and jams. Love 'em both. I am also a huge Eddie Van Halen fan, as well. Eddie is famous for his tapping (which is awesome), but the guy could write a riff, play rhythm, and exploit harmonics like nobody else.
  6. I have always loved the Eagles. They are staple in my catalog of music and I am so fortunate to have seen them once again, just months before Glenn died. They were nothing short of fabulous.
  7. Led Zeppelin released music in the golden age of rock, and they are a huge reason why it was golden. Very impressive.
  8. Anybody else read a recent article in Rolling Stone about the making of Revolver? While Rubber Soul was the band's "pot album" Revolver was the band's LSD album. Paul declined to try LSD for a while, but he eventually did. Interesting read.
  9. I didn't get into Rush until later in my life. I think that's okay. I was ready for them when I did. Phenomenal musicians and band.
  10. Man, Montrose could have been something big had they stuck with Sammy and followed his vision to remain a hard rock band. Their first album is one of the greatest hard rock records every recorded. There are some gems on Paper Money, too.
  11. Finish What Ya Started was awesome. I miss Ed playing the chicken pickin' lick, but Vic Johnson did an admirable job. Always loved that song. Such a departure for the VH.
  12. Saw Sammy Hagar and the Circle on Friday in Chicago. I have two more on the schedule, so far, for the year... Willie Watson The Avett Brothers
  13. Hey guys and gals, I saw Sammy Hagar and the Circle on Friday night in Chicago. What a great show. They played Good Times Bad Times, When the Levee Breaks and Rock and Roll. Jason is certainly his father's son. Man, Sammy still sounds great and he can shred on guitar himself. It was a great set and I had a blast. Chicago is just beautiful too. 14. I love the Grateful Dead. There are always a few songs that capture a wider audience and seem to "spoil" it for the tie-dye hard fans. I get as big a kick out of Touch or Grey as I do Cream Puff War. Some fans don't realize that the Dead were playing Touch of Grey in 1983--four years before their MTV success. Heck, I loved the video and the fact that it awakened so many fans to their music.
  15. Sorry I missed these guys on this trek. The video footage looked pretty good, actually. I saw them back in the day co-headlining with Metallica. That's when G n' R would hit the stage at midnight. Crazy times, but good shows.
  16. I think so, for sure. Dazed and Confused, Going to California, No Quarter, The Battle of Evermore, How Many More Times, Your Time is Gonna Come--I could probably keep going.
  17. Man, I don't know. I just accept it all for what it is, which is great. I guess the only thing I don't like, but I understand, is that they haven't really hit the road with Jason on drums. They should have years ago. Jason is an awesome drummer and the nearest thing to his Dad that I've ever heard. Plus, he loves his Pop and would truly honor his legacy.
  18. Just watched this again with my 17 year old son. We howled. "What about the big board?"
