  1. And her voice is sore from shouting Cheering winners who are losing And she wonders if their days are few and soon they'll have to go Celebration Day is one of Plant's best lyrics ever. I remember back in the 70s the critics would focus only on the chorus in pointing out how "insipid" Plant's lyrics were. The chorus is brilliant satire in the context of the rest of the lyrics. Critics never bothered to listen.
  2. Her face is cracked from smiling All the fears that she's been hiding And it seems that pretty soon, everybody's gonna know
  3. agreed. Another consideration is that the band he is touring with is the band he has been making music with in the recent past, so they are doing songs from the recent albums. Makes sense to me. He did not construct this band to do songs from the 80s and 90s.
  4. Thanks. At first I was disappointed that the background was green but when I saw the picture later I liked that it was all shades of green.
  5. I really enjoy the photos where you can see the audience and the band. P 203, 134-35, 138-39, and 128-29. That last one may be my favorite so far. The audience photo on 226-27 is really cool too.
  6. Considering them as standalone songs, I would say Welcome Back, Kotter and WKRP in Cinncinnati. WKRP is unique in that it also had a separate and completely different ending song, although it was just a snippet and not a complete song like the opener. It was more rockin' and had nonsense lyrics.
  7. Jimmy has said in interviews that he made up the guitar break on the spot. That is certainly believable. As much as I like Tea for One and Levee, I think SIBLY is their best blues number by far. It has everything, and as the reviewer in Time magazine said it has more soul than a revival meeting, and a "certain kind of stamp" that makes it uniquely Zeppelin. It is perfect in every respect.
  8. Saw this the other day while out on a walk.
  9. Saw Rory Block and Cindy Cashdollar last night. Fantastic show. Here is a clip of them from 2016
  10. nice. I took note of the YouTube screen name and profile pic. Sounds great.
  11. They were such a great band. Their album was a breath of fresh air. I can still recall the anticipation as they had little clips of songs on their website in the weeks leading up to the release. I think the clips were from Scumbag Blues. I was fortunate enough to see them 3 times. Electric Factory in Philly 10/12/2009, The 9:30 Club in DC 10/14/2009, and Roseland Ballroom in NYC 2/8/2010. All great shows. I was right in front standing in front of Jones for the first two shows. Could not get to NYC early enough that day to be up front.
  12. There is one track - Dancing Days - from Long Beach 1972 on a Scorpio bootleg called Studio Daze, which is mostly studio outtakes. It includes the great little speech Plant gives before the song.
  13. My dad had a good comment about Jethro Tull, or at least at the time it was funny to me and my brothers. We were listening to Stand Up in the living room. My dad walked in and sat down with his newspaper. Bouree was playing. After about a minute he said without looking up from his paper, "Who is this?" My brother said "Dad, it's TULL !" Without batting an eyelash or looking up from his paper my dad said "I like Tull."
  14. How the East Was Won, Eelgrass Astonishing Do they have Celebration Day and Whole Lotta Love ? That would be, in Robert's words, "Over the top, top, top, top !!"
  15. Jones also sang on "When You Fall in Love" on his Scream for Help soundtrack album. On Thunderthief he also sang on "Freedom Song"
  16. From the window of your rented limousine I saw your pretty blue eyes One day soon you're gonna reach sixteen Painted lady in the city of lies Clutching pages from your teenage dream, in the lobby of the Hotel Paradise, Through the circus of the LA queens, how fast you learn the downhill slide You said you dug me since you were thirteen, but you giggle as you heave and sigh Exhibition is your habit, emotion second hand If you fake it, mama Baby, fake with all your might When you fake it, mama Please fake it right (for yourself babe) When you fake it baby You're fakin' it for your life, for your life
  17. The Third Man Seven Days in May The Manchurian Candidate (the original with Frank Sinatra)
  18. So many too choose from. Cannot pick just one "best". Here are a few. Her name is Brown or White or Black, you know her very well. You hear her cries of mercy as the winners toll the bell. She hears them talk of new ways to protect the home she lives in, then she wonders what its all about when they break down the door. There is a train that leaves the station headed for your destination, but the price you pay to nowhere has increased a dollar more. And if you walk you're gonna get there, although it takes a little longer, and when you see it in the distance you will wring your hands and moan. On the corner of Bleeker and Nowhere in the land of not quite day, a shiver ran down my backbone, face in the mirror turns grey As the moon and the stars call the order Inside my tides dance the ebb and sway The sun in my soul's sinking lower While the hope in my hands turns to clay I don't ask that my field's full of clover I don't moan at opportunity's door And if you ask my advice, take it slower Let your story be your finest reward
  19. The other show I saw on that tour was Camden, NJ July 8, 2000. Another fantastic show. Horsehead and No Speak No Slave were killer !! Too bad they never did My Morning Song together. One of the Crowes best tracks and it would have suited Jimmy well.
  20. I was at the Great Woods show too. I don't remember which show was better - they were both great shows.
  21. In my first few times through these are the ones that really struck me. I have not read all the text at the end yet. Page 52 Page 128 - 129 Page 153 with the handwritten lyrics 158-159 203 252-53
