Try Fargo the TV series. All three seasons are great, especially season 2 which is set in 1979. Another great one is Mr. Robot.

Here's another one I recall. A bunch of us went to the TSRTS movie for like the fourth time the first year it came out. One non fan joined us. After the movie she said "Well, they are pretty good, but they need to get some better material."

I was thinking about some comments and reactions I have heard over the years from people who are not Zeppelin fans. Freshman year in college - we were blasting studio Stairway in the dorm. A crowd gathered in the hall to listen. When the song was over the first comment was the very predictable "wow, what a great guitar solo". Then our Resident Assistant (sophomore, preppy, liked Jackson Browne, Boz Skaggs, etc) said "Forget about the guitar solo, I want to know who is playing those drums !!" What funny or interesting comments have you heard about Zeppelin from non-fans?

It is July 6, 1969 Newport Jazz Festival but I don't know which boot version. I just found it on YouTube. If you click to watch it directly on YouTube you can see some description, but it does not say much about which source(s). I had this show on a cassette from way back in the old tape trading days. This morning I saw on JimmyPage.com his notes about the show, today being July 6. He said that they followed Buddy Rich and his Big Band (!!), and that the crowds were getting so big that they announced on the radio that Zeppelin were NOT going to play, just to keep the crowds down. Plant is buried in this mix but the band sounds great and they are killing it ! -

Leann covers Merle. And here is the original by Merle. Maybe the most perfect country song ever. Written by Merle, released Aug 1, 1966 right around the time of Revolver and the Yardbirds' Roger the Engineer.

All of them are great. The only way I can narrow this down is to consider the entire package. That gives me close call between III and PG. III is light, colorful, and the inner spinning wheel is a fantastic touch. PG perfectly captures the mood and sound of the songs. And that extensive interior: two sleeves with different pictures, how they work with the overall outside cover with the empty windows, how the name of the album also fits in the windows, and the design of the interior with the song titles in all different fonts looking like a ransom note. Very creative in all respects. I would have to say the best is PG.

As others have mentioned I hope the remaster is of the original soundtrack album versions, along with the non LP tracks. And, I also hope that Dazed includes this bit from the original movie. 23:23 - 23:29 in this clip.

Potential Zep Reunion? Probably not.... but Maybe...

I would like to see that too. I have seen three great episodes of AXS TV's "Classic Albums" lately that could set a blueprint. Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here (I was amazed at how into it Waters was - he was serious, enthusiastic and reflective - none of his usual vitriol), Rush 2112, and Deep Purple Machine Head. No stupid road stories and "behind the scenes" nonsense. Just a clear focus on the music and how it was made, and why. All three of the episodes are keepers that bear repeat viewings. All of them have parts where they play back master tapes part by part so you can hear how the tracks were put together. All of those episodes could have been twice as long. If you have not seen them, seek them out. If the surviving members could do something like those, that would be great. -

How Many More Times, Montreux 1970 soundboard. I am beginning to think that this version is a close second to my all time favorite version, Danmarks Radio 1969. Montreux 70 has a unique intro and a more relaxed feel than Danmarks Radio. But Danmarks has my favorite live Page solo ever and the bow segment, which as very different from Dazed bow segments. -
