Wasn't sure where to put this but Paul Martinez is listed on wiki as having passed away yesterday. As a quick Google does not reveal any other sources confirming this, I shall take with a pinch of salt, but has anyone heard anything through the grapevine? An American musician of the same name died last month and I wondered if someone updating wiki had got the wrong end of the stick.

The people banging on about arthritis and "he can't play anymore" are remarkably quiet tonight! What a blinder of a performance

Did it all end on September 25, 1980?

Peter Grant was quoted as saying people left messages on his answer phone as soon as the announcement was made. And that "certain people really went down in my estimation". Afaik, there were never any try outs, and I've never heard Plant Page or JPJ mention otherwise. -
Is this the thing that's appeared on You Tube as "Bonzo's Bhangra"?

Fascinating thread! I often wonder watching TSRTS "where are they now" to all the various characters appearing. The gatecrasher who gets chased into the room by police and the door shuts, during "Dazed", where is he now? And what happened in that room? Cops were out of control back then. -
Live show in New Jersey in 75 (in front of 350 fans)???

My apologies mate, looking back that was a rather rude post of mine. I am afflicted by dreaded Covid at the moment and not in the best of moods. -

Good to see JPJ invited to this. Couldn't help noticing Josh Homme & Alain Johannes on the bill too. Anyone know what playing shape Josh is in at the moment? I'd love another Crooked Vultures appearance, even if a record's not going to happen.

In the official Zeppelin book, JPJ says he recalls Pigpen having a gun at that photo session. Nothing about him firing it though. -
Ricardo lived the life of three men. RIP to an extraordinary man.

Only one (one star) review for this new Bob Spitz biog, and it is pretty scathing. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Led-Zeppelin-Biography-Bob-Spitz/dp/0399562427/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1XDYB1UAKI67S&keywords=led+zeppelin+bob+spitz&qid=1636490508&qsid=261-2501757-0729060&s=books&sprefix=led+zeppelin+bob+spitz%2Caps%2C195&sr=1-1&sres=0399562427%2C1250215609%2CB00FOQRZAI%2C0393307697%2CB07CRLXJWS&srpt=ABIS_BOOK

It has to be an improvement on the Mick Wall book.

http://www.thevinylguide.com/episodes/ep294-led-zeppelin-vinyl-interview-ross-halfin Podcast here with Ross Halfin about his upcoming Zeppelin vinyl book. (apols if it's already been posted on another thread) He says among many other things, that Page has tapes from both Tokyo shows and both Osaka '71 shows. (hat tip to one of the Zep threads on the Steve Hoffman Forum)

Zeppelin Mysteries Hosted by Steve A. Jones

Given what a huge star Robert was in 1985, it'd be odd if he hadn't been involved. -
Latest Rock Candy magazine, has Zeppelin at Knebworth. By Dave Lewis Latest Classic Rock has a thing on the making of the 4th Album. https://www.loudersound.com/news/50-years-on-the-ultimate-celebration-of-led-zeppelin-iv-only-in-classic-rock Bought the former but held off buying the latter as, being Classic Rock mag, I suspect the author of the piece is Mick Wall. No thanks.

Zeppelin Mysteries Hosted by Steve A. Jones

Hey Steve, be interested if you could shed any light on this. Years ago I commented on a thread on a Detective video on YouTube. Someone else responded last week claiming to be the bass player from Detective and that they had sorted out contractual probs with Swan Song on January 1st this year. So is Swan Song still a legal entity?! I'd assumed it had been wound up years ago. His exact words are as follows Jon Hyde and I are opening a new version of Detective. We, Detective, were given our full rights by Swan Song on Jan 1st. This year.
