  1. Strider...these recollections are so awesome to read. I wasn't even born when Led Zeppelin disbanded, but your write-up on the June 21st show perfectly conveys everything I have ever read about the band and heard in the bootlegs over the years. I tell people it's not hyperbole that they were the rgeatest live rock and roll band in history. I recently was going through various Beatles live performances, and they were so ordinary to me. Zeppelin shows? It was like energy from another dimension descended upon the stage. There are so many things that astound me and continue to astound me about their live performances. I remember the first time I heard the June 23rd bootleg with good headphones, and listening to Bonzo on the drums on Stairway....the thought that went through my head was "the sound of those his drum playing is impossible, that should not be possible." I cannot even fathom what it would have been like in Millard's section of the Forum. I would have probably been dead because I'm not convinced my mind could have handled seeing and hearing this stuff in the flesh.
  2. What Jimmy will be doing for Zeppelin's 50th: In other words spending his later years doing nothing of significance while playing a guitar for no one. I suspect Plant and Jones will be busy doing whatever shows/tours they are booked to play rather than refusing to make any music.
  3. I've always thought that whatever creative output Page has had the past couple of decades is probably all an extension of where he would have liked to take Led Zeppelin from 1981 onwards had September 1980 never occurred. Led Zeppelin was what he was born to do. Even those Page/Plant tours, Jimmy was at his absolute best playing Led Zeppelin songs. If anything, whenever he goes, I wouldn't be terribly shocked if all sorts of recorded guitar material came out that is in the exact spirit of Zeppelin, or something close to it.
  4. Never saw that 1972 San Bernadino video....WOW. That's the form he had during Europe 1973, especially in January. Plus the video footage of him from 1973 is ridiculous.
  5. Was that the absolute best form he was ever in over the course of his career? Listening to the 1973-1-22 Southampton show was mind-blowing with his playing. The band was a little sluggish on Rock and Roll, but by the time they hit Black Dog, Jimmy takes off from there. The pick work seems effortless and his fingers seem to just dance on the strings. I love his playing no matter the year, but while people say 1968-1973 was his window, I feel like 1973 is just him being effort less and displaying incredible dexterity that flows.
