  1. Why is that? I know he was against TV broadcasts of the band, but would he have been against the show being filmed for archival purposes or a later release of some sort?
  2. Nope, definitely remember it being the 10/10 Olympia performance; I wouldn't confuse the two. I hadn't heard about the possible Amsterdam footage though, but I'll keep looking for that source I mentioned.
  3. Oh no this source was talking about the actual audio recording after it had come out, and then mentioned a possible hoarded film as well. I'll keep trying to track down this source though, it's incredibly irritating to remember reading this but not be able to find where I had seen it.
  4. A while ago, I had come across someone/some article or interview that mentioned the existence of an actual film for the Olympia 1969 show. I believe the rumor had some French critic in possession of the film. Unfortunately I can't find that source and it's driving me nuts! I was wondering if anyone else had heard this or has any more information about it?
  5. Fantastic man! Your drum sound is killer too, it's HUGE!
  6. Same here! I believe so, I'm thinking it's going to be more along the lines of the latest album. I'll be going to see them at a smaller club in Cleveland in May! Definitely curious to see them.
  7. That'd be a wild dream come true if the 923/924 boards also came out. For now at least, we know that there's enough material from 928/929 to put together a compilation, especially when we finally get WLL/TY from 929.
  8. I've been thinking to do it since I heard about the 928 board a few months ago. I may wait until we get the final reel of 929 so I can put everything together in this level of quality instead of using any of the old 929 stage source.
  9. Absolutely, that first album was awesome. The second or third one was great too, it's called "Lore."
  10. So from the limited knowledge I have from working on music myself, I think the biggest difference here was the fact that it wasn't compressed to high heaven and brickwalled to the point that actual musical frequencies were being lopped off because the recording was so loud. There's no difference in the sources, it's still the master transfer that was used in 2003. Technology may have come further but I don't think there's been anything groundbreaking in terms of improving the sound here. I think the real difference was in not over-compressing the whole thing. This way everything has room to "breathe" if you will. The best example to my ears is Jones's bass being far more distinct on the remaster, versus the muddiness of the original at times. I can pick out what his part far more easily than on the 2003 version. And just in general, the new remaster is so much more clear and crisp.
  11. This thread should have what you're looking for, makes for very interesting reading.
  12. At this point I'm not sure they care all that much unfortunately. They couldn't even be bothered to fix the mess of the TSRTS reissue or to include Tangerine/Communication Breakdown/Thank You on the HTWWW reissue (there wouldn't even be any outside royalty issues there), so a whole new release seems out of the question. At least at this point.
  13. I've definitely heard the Blueberry Hill board rumors floating around, actually heard that same exact story about EV getting mad and pulling it. Quite unfortunate, but hopefully the rumors are based in reality? The earliest '75 show on the boards that we have is 2/10 in Landover. Would definitely be awesome to get some of the earlier ones though, I love those early setlists with Wanton Song, Levee and HMMT! Speaking of, I really wish I could dig up the source for you, but I've heard rumors that EV are sitting on the full Long Beach '72 board tape as well. Obviously we have a significant part of this on HTWWW but getting the FULL show as a board would be absolutely amazing. At any rate, it'd be quite the upgrade over the audience source we have for it now.
  14. Ah yes I miswrote it, I meant the new release of the show!
  15. See that's the weird thing about the 929 board though...the cuts are so oddly placed. They have songs from all three tape reels that the band would have used to record the show. It seems odd that the sections between songs would just happen to be missing. As well as select songs from IN BETWEEN others, like Black Dog not being there, or Thank You being missing from between Communication Breakdown and Rock and Roll. It makes me suspicious that they have these songs but held them back for whatever reason. With that said, I could be wrong, maybe EVSD actually put out all the stuff they had for 929 (except for WLL). I keep remembering hearing somewhere that they were gonna put out Whole Lotta Love as another single after Immigrant Song and Friends had come out. But that didn't happen. And here we are a year and change later with Twist and Shout from that Whole Lotta Love. So, who knows? I tend to think they were honest about the 928 release though. I'm not sure why the beginning is missing but it seems like we have (mostly) the first two reels with no cuts. I'm not sure if they couldn't buy the third reel with Whole Lotta Love and the rest of the show or what exactly happened there. As of now it really seems like they don't have it and they gave us whatever they were able to find.
  16. Hi all! I've been looking for the new source of the Bath 1970 show, it's the Tarantura2000 release "Bath of the Blues." Would anyone have it and be able to share? I can send you something in return if I have what you're looking for.
  17. Yes, it is from the new SBD. Confirmed over at RO a couple days ago. So EV at least has that part of Whole Lotta Love from 929...
  18. Ah I misspoke, it's just good sound! Not necessarily great, I went back to listen and realized I had remembered it as better than it actually was. That said, I have the EVSD and Godfather versions and those seem better.
  19. Really? The cuts are so oddly placed, between songs, and then also songs that should be in the middle of reels are missing. So I wonder if whoever actually was offering to sell the tapes cut some parts out themselves?
  20. What do you guys think of the Southampton Thank You? It's my personal favorite. I love that it's a little more restrained, while still being really loose and relaxed. He plays some things there that I never heard in Thank You solos before or after that!
  21. Right? I'd love to hear the version from RAH '70 too, the little snippet we do have makes it seem like that was going to be an INCREDIBLE version of it.
  22. Thank You is always absolutely terrific live, blows the studio version away. Likewise for Bring It On Home. How Many More Times is always a highlight too.
  23. For sure! I figured EV had all of 929, there's no way they'd have Communication Breakdown and Rock & Roll without Whole Lotta Love and Thank You, those all would have been on the last tape reel. So irritating that they couldn't have just put the whole thing out. It would be great to get the ending reel for 928 as well, even though I do actually think EV put out everything they had for the show this time.
  24. It's definitely shipped and being delivered, I know of a couple people who got their sets yesterday. Can confirm from one of these people that "Twist & Shout" is indeed from the new soundboard tape!
  25. Right? It's a shame it isn't in better quality, what a ridiculous setlist and performance. Wasn't sure if you were looking more for sound quality or quality of the performance itself though.
