Out On the Tiles was performed a few times as an encore in 1970, most famously at the LA Forum "Blueberry Hill" show on September 4th. Enjoy!
Thank you!

I don't believe Zep ever played Out on the Tiles live, but I could be mistaken.

Axis: Bold as Love
-
I'm listening to some Jimi Hendrix right now and the lyrics for "If 6 was 9" are familiar:
If the sun refused to shine, I don't mind, I don't mind. If the mountains fell in the sea, let it be, it ain't me.
Given that Axis: Bold as Love was released in 1967 and LZII came out in 1969, anyone think Jimi influenced Robert on those lyrics?

I'd take Free but Bad Co is a close second. Nice choice.
Paul Rodgers is one of the best rock vocalists of all time!

Also, just watched a Bad Company documentary last night... Bad Co opening for Zep would have been AWESOME!

IKR. On every single album, there is always a different person.
No one is going to accuse him of recycling his old hits, that's for sure!

I love "Smooth". Great song. I saw them live at the Shoreline in Mountain View w/ The Doobie Brothers. It was great
I love how Santana is keeping things fresh by pairing with new(er) artists!

Very different from Led Zeppelin I see....
Not that that's a bad thing.
180* different! I usually only like classic rock, so it's quite a departure for me.
Also digging this Santana - Mana pairing!

Thanks for sharing, super cool!

I don't care if you hate Madonna, this is an AWESOME mash up with a totally hot video!

There was another thread on a similar topic, but the mini-series "Sharp Objects" used 4 Zep songs throughout, including at the end. Excellent usage; the music totally worked with the mood of the show. I Can't Quit You Baby, What Is and What Should Never Be, Thank You and In the Evening (that ending, WOW!!!). Mindhunter also used In the Light very well in the final episode of season 1.

Even much of the pop songs of the 60's & 70's were pretty good, excellent compared to today's music. The 60's girls bands make the Spice Girls, Destiny's Child, and K-Pop all look like crap by comparison. The 70's pop with Seals & Croft, England Dan and John Ford Coley, Poco, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Ambrosia, 10CC and on and on were all good tunes and are still played today because they were well constructed songs with good writing. The problem with today's songs are recycled melodies, inane lyrics, and everything auto-tuned and / or pitch corrected.
When you sing a song you should do your best but its the real feel of a true vocal performance, the warmth and sincerity that makes all the difference. I would rather hear Patti Smith or Bob Dylan belt out a sincere performance vs. some auto-tuned or perfectly polished American Idol clone with zero sincerity and lack of unique style any day.
Bottom line is people just stopped trying and have relied 100% on technology and slick production to deliver what is in affect a golden turd.
Thanks... that's kind of what I thought. I read something somewhere that all pop music today is created by one person and it's basically the same song that the recording engineers tweak slightly.

TYG is Zep’s masterpiece in my opinion. My favourite song ever. Period. The missus knows that when I cark it, it’s getting played at my funeral 😀
HAHAH, me too!!

Yep, completely agree. Musically, the versions of TYG and In the Light were absolute perfection. But his voice just doesn’t work.
A million times yes! TYG is my absolute favorite Zep song and it's not one they did live very often (or very well - see above, re: all of the guitars). I was SO EXCITED to hear the Crows with Page play it and then Chris Robinson opened his mouth!
-
I love the V&A! What an awesome museum!
-
I like the Page / Crows stuff musically - all the guitars available on stage (versus just Jimmy having to record the different guitar parts himself in the studio) creates a fantastic sound! However, while I like Chris Robinson's lyrics on Black Crows songs, he doesn't do the Zep stuff justice. You can't just stick any singer in there. Example, I think Ann Wilson is able to cover Zep fantastically, but I've heard her cover Who songs and it's terrible. Eddie Vedder can cover Who songs brilliantly though. I'm not a singer myself, but there must be something with pitch / timber / face shape, etc.

I have blonde, curly hair and I am very jealous of Robert's hair! I'd like to know how he got it to look so good all through the '70's!
