  1. In reading the article, one wonders just how “cool”was the relationship around 2014 between Plant and Page. I think some of that stemmed from Page wanting to continue on with a Zeppelin project akin to their O2 2007 appearance. It seems by Plant's remark, “A laugh a minute?” that Robert might have become weary about discussing Zeppelin as he already had been quite successful with his own “re-inventing” the Robert Plant brand and looked at a Zep project as a chore, and was content to let the past be. I'm sure the remaining 3 musicians all pinch themselves at times to take in their world success and how 4 struggling musicians became one unit melded into a identifiable sound and which still endures to this day. 2. I love interesting reads such as this book, sort of the “sleeper” type of book. After only 80 pages into this, I'm struck by the author's dedication in pursuing a dream, and it's a prime example of opportunity, hard work, attention to detail; combined with a bit of luck here and there, can push the human spirit to achieve when others fall by the wayside. It's the type of book that I could read more than once, and for myself, that is a rare thing. ADK-Zeppelin
  3. Thanks, Mr.Smith. This look like a good read of the 70's era of which Zeppelin held sway. I started reading the first chapter this morning. ADK-Zeppy
  4. Hey JM! That really is a very nice set up! If you were to play Page tone without the pedals, would your Origin's e.q. (T, M,B) remain the same? Ahh, no pun intended. I use an Orange Dark Terror with two Les Pauls and it only has a “shape” knob for its e.q. I have that knob set so that the e.q. curve would most likely approximate what you have. Myamp is similar (it just so happens) to your's.....just below half on the gain. I don't think Page used much in the way of gain, but relied on sheer volume to make his “point”. Perhaps his use of a Tele in the Yardbirds and early Zep influenced how he set e.q. on his amps with a Les Paul, later on. ADK-Zeppy
  5. These excellent remasters just show that Zeppelin were and still have not been surpassed for sheer talent, memorable songs and playing, and singing as was the mighty Zeppelin. I never get tired of listening to them and each time I re-listen, I hear a few things I missed in succeeding plays. ADK-Zeppy
  6. I don't doubt that there are some amazing software products available to anyone who wants to take the time to apply it to any type of pre-recorded music. The digital recording era was first heard by myself when my local library put Ry Cooder's album from a decades ago in their music bin. The album spoke of it being one of the 1st. If not the very first to use digital processing in recording Cooder's playing and singing. The only thing I remember about my listening experience was the better fidelity due to there being no noise heard anywhere between the actual sound impulses put down on the day’s media; namely tape. I know technology has only gotten better as time went on. ADK-Zeppy
  7. This June 7, 1977 remastering really sounds good. What were you detecting from the sound that needed improvement and did you employ any special “tricks” to make it even better than what it was before? ADK-Zeppy
  8. Thanks Steve! I'm expecting this will be as good that Houston remaster 1977. ADK-Zeppy
  9. Based upon the sample you posted, I sent you a PM with the hope you send me the remastering. ADK-Zeppy
  10. Many thanks for posting this! ADK-Zeppelin
  11. Where can we find this matrix? ADK-Zeppy
  12. I agree. It was difficult to distinguish between all of your samples. Did you take notes of your own observations or was it difficult for you also? Between #2 and #4, I would still vote #4 and it's because upon multiple listening, I do think it has more presence......seems more “alive” ADK-Zeppy
  13. I'm very happy that I discovered this performance...keep wishing that AI technology will someday transform these videos in to today’s HD or 4K and bring some “real magic” to the screen. John M. “MAGIC is a word I use many times to describe Page's playing; even his “sloppy” efforts. I have yet to hear another player that can be as expressive and make the guitar such an integral part of a song. That's in the hands of a “sorcerer” in my book! ADK-Zeppy
  14. Plant and Page “When The World Was Young”. Not really Zeppelin, but quite the haunting melody, nevertheless. ADK-Zeppy
  15. Thank you for posting these files. I voted #4, but it's not too easy picking one out in particular. Did you manage to make notes as to what (if any) changes you made between each of the 6? ADK-Zeppy
  16. Chris, thank you for posting all of these to this thread. They all look very inviting and highly interesting to me as I've never been to Britain; although my ancestors came from Hampshire for the Plymouth Bay Colony in 1630 on the ship James. Your photos create a wonderful atmosphere of that area. ADK-Zeppo
  17. A question about this: I did receive the whole performance and am listening to it. It's remarkably good quality. What specifically do you do in the remastering to get it to sound so good? ADK-Zeppy
  18. This sounds good to me. Please forward me a link to the show? ADK-Zeppy
  19. Yes, I would agree that it would be a miracle, but even if Jimmy sat for a critique of that performance in 2007 would be (for me) interesting. He did do something like that when revealing some thoughts about a Stairway recording that's up on YouTube. ADK-Zeppy
  20. I missed the 12th anniversary night, but the video is on my tablet and tonight I will steep myself in that performance again. It would be instructive if a producer got Page and Plant and maybe JPJ to sit for an interview and critique from the three of them as they are watching the video of some selected songs from that actual performance; just to see what choice comments they all would opine about. Call it a reunion of the reunion of 2007. ADK-Zeppy
  21. Jimmy Page was the type of player who after getting his parts down on a studio session where mistakes can be done over then proceed to playing live on stage in Zeppelin where it is music on the fly, cannot be expected to hit every note exact; every performance. I'm thinking of Page in his solo on Immigrant Song in Sydney AU that has been memorialized on film. His playing at one point “outside” and some might think he's hit wrong notes. I think he was trying to get outside the harmony and realized in an instant that he'd better draw back to the song's key and finish his solo spot. That was the Page that was not afraid to try something new live, but not wish to put its own on tape. During Zeppelin's performance era (68/69 to 79/80) most of people living then had never seen Led Zeppelin and an untold number never knew what they name meant. Their collective “Zep” experience was through recordings played over the world's radio networks or actually having possession of their recordings. Experiencing LED Zeppelin via that medium is in stark contrast to actually attending a Zeppelin performance live. The live experience was more “spectical” such as seeing opera live; where the entire event and it's surroundings is a whole other experience than just recorded audio. I think examining Jimmy's playing live might be (for some) sometimes be a let down and other times just the opposite. For myself, I would accept it and then remember that I'm witnessing up close the musicians who actually recorded those earth-shaking tones and accept it for what it was. ADK-Zeppy
  22. “Immigrant Song”! I don't think that I initially liked that on first hearing. Over time, I consider it one of my “go to” songs for the essence of Zeppelin. Authors have quoted specs of the lyrics in their writings. TV and radio use snippets of the opening measures of it as”lead-ins” to programming segments. When Page goes into that guitar free form part of his solo, I hear elements of Jazz improvising which sometimes he accomplishes and not very well in other instances. For me, I hear this song on several levels. ADK-Zeppy
  23. Ringo never got too much credit for his drumming skills and even some downright bashing for it, but if you took him from the Beatles it would not be the Beatles any longer. Besides the attraction to Zep's iconic songs, many Zep followers were attracted to the on-stage interplay between Bonham's drumming and Page's playing; the bookend being Plant's voice playing off of Page's guitar.......with JPJ providing that huge floor underneath so that no one would fall through. ADK-Zeppy
  24. Where about son the net can I hear this particular song? Would it be on YT? ADK-Zeppy
  25. I have the O2 concert on my tablet and I viewed it a number of times last year. “For Your Life” is a highlight for also. Jimmy's solo is another example of a Page and his supreme confidence in his playing and his adventurous trip into including some “outside” playing much like some Jazz guitarists would. The Immigrant Song is another example; on the two-DVD Zeppelin one. His performance was put on that collection and was derived from splicing two outdoor concerts together. ADK- Zeppy
