Perfecting Live Zeppelin Recordings Using AI
donb8 replied to Unseenguest's topic in Led Zeppelin Live
Great post! Great follow up as well. On audience recordings, the goal should just be improving what we have. Especially the historical shows. I digress though. It will be difficult since these recordings are of varying quality. Baltimore 1972 and 1973 are examples of this. -
What happened to Plant's voice in 1972 ?
donb8 replied to SolitudeIsBliss's topic in Led Zeppelin Live
Another change no one talks about is the spring 70 us tour and the summer tour. That shift from LZ2 to LZ3 damaged his original voice. He lost alot of range but especially textures within his voice. That Arizona show at the end of the spring tour is the culprit. -
Do it do it now!!........black dog!

What show or live song are you listening to now?

Why the huge difference in celebration day (song)
donb8 replied to Night_flight3030's topic in Led Zeppelin Live
Jimmy was playing much better and kinda left alone while JPJ and JB locked in.nly when Jimmys altered his tone and his soloing began to decline a bit, did Bonham start playing more with him than Jones. = Jimmys playing peaked in 73. His tone also peaked in 73. His soloing declined in 75. Everything about page declined is 75 sound, tone, dexterity, musical choices(throwing away the blues rockabilly sections and creative freak-outs shows that he really couldn't deliver anymore live. All good things come to end. But it came to an end after 73. Bonham's playing was an amazing creative twist in zeps live playing. It gave them new live textures ,sounds and kept things fresh. -
Why the huge difference in celebration day (song)

I completely disagree. 73 was peak page. The solo section in this show is better than any version of celebration day from 71. I'll take this page and bonham any day of the week. 7:29! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpJBwLccY_E&t=6s -
Auckland is the best show. IMO

I've come to look at this tour as being really overrated. The band never really gels. Jimmy's playing at 30% compared to the level he was playing at the us tour. No wonder the audience looks tame in that footage from Sydney.

Damn. Buffalos sent me on a high.
-
That southern trek from Texas to New Orleans and Mobile is also really good! Salt lake city is also very good!!
-
Top shows of the tour for me are now; 1. Baltimore 2. Seattle 3. Msg shows 4. Buffalo 5. Detroit shows
-
WOW. Buffalo really is a great show. Jimmy and Bonzo drag it to greatness by tooth and nail!!
-
Pretty please. Does Anyone have this? Please pm me a link?!
-
Thanks!! in advance.

pm me as well

Thanks for the response. Perhaps its the recordings from that second us tour in 1970 that don't emphasize Bonham or Jimmy well....
-
Perhaps am just not getting the vibe of this tour?

I've been a huge Zepp fan since 2015 and their best live work, from 1969 to 1973 has kept me going. However, I've always had issues with 1970. RAH does nothing for me, though the first 30 minutes of Montreux are incredible. Robert's best voice of the year with his 69 timbres still intact. Recently, I decided to give this year a second try starting with the US spring tour. It's incredible, the band is on fire at Memphis, Raleigh. Jimi's playing well at the la forum as well. However, am still struggling with the summer tour. I get bored after the first two tracks. Robert's voice is great(though diminished in timbre from earlier in the year), but the rest of the band is tame in comparison, Professional, but tame. I can barely hear what Jimi's playing most times. Bonham doesn't deliver to the level of Memphis and Raleigh earlier. I need some help in finding a show from this tour where the entire band is firing on all cylinders(not just plant) nor is plant overshadowing the band. Shows from the summer tour I've listened to partially or completely; Milwaukee, Honolulu, San Diego, New York evening show, la forum.

FIRSTLY. AM SORRY ABOUT MY GRAMMER AND SPELLING. ENGLISH ISNT MY FIRST LANGUAGE. Whenever i read posts about no quarter live, here and all over the internet. There seems to be a lot of praise for the 1975 versions, but to my ears and my personal inner led zeppelin core(lol)..... they are bad. I find them to be overlong and boring (not a good combination). Jimmys solo's seem to fail 90% of the time. john paul jones is as usual professional and competent but i just dont FEEEL it this year(the led zeppelin insyncness in no quarter and in general isn't there)- MAYBE ITS THE UGLY SOUNDBOARDS BLASTING OUT ROBERTS BROKEN GLASS VOICE.... I DONT KNOW. In 1977, the opposite happens, John Paul Jones piano perfomances seem to work and Jimmys endless soloing is put on the back burner. Roberts improved voice is a boon and the band just gels with this NEW rendition of No quarter. Bonham is the literal "dogs of doom" this year(FOREBODING?). However, to me No quarter worked best in 1973. Jimmy solos are the works of a literal master of the guitar. There are moments where i wonder whether HE IS Playing for the devil. Jonesys piano purrs a vision of a hellscape and of course Bonham perfectly brings it all together. but most importantly, Roberts rough voice doesnt distract from the music most of the time, which it does in 1975. Finally, my top 5 versions of the year, 🙂 1- 28TH JULY AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN. There's no doubt in my mind that this is the best. JIMMMMY!!! HE evokes Zdzisław Beksiński's paintings in my opinion, as do the next two. 2-29TH JULY AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN. In my opinion, this is another masterpiece second only to the previous one. JIMMY.......i have no words. Is he trying to impress the former Choir master of heaven.... ;D John Paul jones' bass literally opens the gates of hell. 3-13TH JULY AT COBO HALL, DETROIT. This came out recently and it is amazing. I love the feel of it here. Jimmy and john paul paul jones are on fire.(JPJ has a little bass solo that is soul shaking lol.) 4- 19TH MAY FORTWORTH TEXAS . I really enjoy this interpretation. This is what happens when jimmy does jazz experimentation right! A great version. 5-26th may salt lake city/13th may mobile - A tie! Both are really great, but i really love the short solo at the mobile show Honourable Mentions! 15th july buffalo/ 18th july vancouver/10th july milwaukee NOTE- We get a hint of the solo from the 27th msg show with its syncopated jazzy end in the song remains the same soundtrack. since its tiny i cant place it on my list, but oh boy its groovy and deserves a mention. I can only imagine what the full solo sounds like! What do you guys think? BTW AM a 26 year old fan..... so please be kind....lol.
