    Doubtful IMO. Most of what we know about the 1975-01-18 board's story is up on RO Friends members only section. Sam (this site's admin) has posted possible full set list from info that is at least a couple of years old, but from what's been said there is no indication the source had/has any other material. In February this year the OP at Royal Orleans had some sort of contact with the source or someone else who had the teasers, which were subsequently posted. The source apparently wanted $20,000 for the full or near complete board.  The couple of short samples including first 20 seconds or so of Wanton Song and I think some intro crowd noise. And now 7 months later we have 25 minutes or so of the board..... anyway there was never any public indication of whether the source had further material. 

    Edit: Actually someone else on that RO thread had those teasers as well, and posted "My source whom I get these 2 says he got also three LA 77 shows, sounds pretty amazing, huh?
    Unfortunately, when I asked him of what kind of gratification he would go up with this, he said 20k...ooops, I think only one label could spend such sum eventually and here we got explanation why these sets are so expensive these days. I hope no gimme gimme wanky talkin' would appear after this. At least I fully understand the cruel rules of capitalism."

    But it's all just hearsay isn't it, if something new turns up then great, if not then, well, my guess is that even in 20 years we will still have the occasional new release, even if it's just previously unreleased 8mm clips or something.

  3. I posted this in the pt1 thread. OP not sure how familiar you are with lossless/ lossy file formats so if this doesn't make total sense I am happy to help. Basically the files you uploaded, whilst superb, suffer from heavy JPEG compression which will only get worse if/when anyone edits or re-saves them. Basically I'm saying the best way to preserve these digitally would be saved in a lossless file format such as BMP at the highest DPI (dots per inch) on your scanner. If you're already au fait with this sort of stuff then a link to something like a Google Drive folder which doesn't suffer from such brutal file size limits would be the best way to preserve these photographs digitally.

If you could upload them in the full resolution of your scanner in high quality JPEGs or BMPs to Google Drive or something and upload a link here that would be brilliant.... there are so many good LZ photos around now that have been endlessly resaved and recompressed they end up looking rather sorry for themselves.... up to you but it would be cool to have these in the best possible quality for the community to enjoy. Thank you!

    But yes, Mr Sakurai is brilliant and I thought the singer was better in this than a lot of other Zepp covers they do.

    Well a lot of us are unemployed now or will be shortly and you only get 400 quid on benefits. If you're under 35 a good half of that will likely go to housing as your "housing allowance" won't cover the rent for your single room in a house share. So by my calculations if I don't eat or pay for anything at all for 8 months, I can save up for one of these prints. Good deal, thanks Jimmy! 🤗

  7. Personally I'm in the boat where 1600 quid for a print with a signature on it is just crass. But I'm not under the illusion that it's too highly priced for the market (if it sells, it sells). If, say, I had a few hundred k in the bank instead of bugger all, to buy anything I liked that will probably not lose its value would make sense. A signed JP print showing a snapshot of his legacy? Even better. Fuck it, if I have enough money I'll buy them all and create an artificial scarcity to drive up the price. To a very rich bloke, paying £200k for a Lamborghini is not unlike most of us spending 40 quid for food in a nice restaurant. Not something you can do every day or week but no big financial impact.

    If there wasn't such growing wealth inequality as there is, maybe there wouldn't be so many people willing to pay for this sort of stuff. £1600 could buy me a very nice new or used Les Paul or Tele. Fancy that, a whole premium guitar for the price of a photo print with some bloke's pen scribble on it!

    But what I'm saying is that if I had a few hundred thousand or more in the bank, the price of these prints wouldn't really have much of a financial impact. What is to most people in England a full month's net wages (or more) is to some a day's or even an hour's pay.

    This. I have nothing against people buying boots when they had to be bought because the Internet didn't exist in the form it does today. I would have been one of them had I got into this stuff before about 2004. But the only new sources that come out now are the occasional EV release every year or 2, and stuff like Glasgow and Detroit 1972 which are shared freely from the beginning. So in this day and age I think it's pretty scummy to buy a bootlegged version of a fan remaster designed to be shared freely. Especially when you're not getting anything for your money that you couldn't do yourself for the price of a blank CD and some printer paper.

    Completely agree. I have little understanding and absolutely no empathy for people who buy bootlegs that are available to download for free. The slight exception being those who for whatever reason buy the new releases from EV that come out every year or 2 and liberate them to the community. And I kind of understand the hardcore mega collector's mentality but still think they have more money than sense. If you absolutely must have the physical CD anyone can burn it and print artwork in 10 minutes for next to no money.

    Like the poster above asking about Moonchild releases because he can't afford EV. Dude, most of these releases are remasters made by a fan for the community for free. Winston's work is often the definitive version of each show, he specifically requests his remasters are only shared freely, not for sale. And instead of participating in that spirit, you want to give your money to some scummy company who has directly ripped off his work and is profiting from burning it onto a CD with some crap artwork? It's shameful.

  10. Guys, most of the questions posed above are answered on the replies to the RO post, and on blackmikito's link in the original post to his sister thread on 1968-1970 soundboards.

     

    RE tapes stolen from Page - he and others has been quoted as saying at some point in the last 20 years or so (could be the 90s to a few years ago, can't locate original source right now) a collector helped return most of the tapes that were stolen from him BUT I don't think it was made clear whether these were available sources of each show in common circulation, or whether the collector had sources unavailable to the unwashed masses, or whether they were the original tapes. I would imagine it's most likely the first scenario, very much doubt the original cassettes were returned. 

    Relying on memory again but I seem to remember there were two thefts from Page's collection in the 80s, firstly in around 1982 and again a few years later. The stolen tapes appear to be the source of some studio outtakes and soundboards from 1973 and 1980. The many soundboards released in the last 15 years or so (primarily from 1975) likely come from another source.

    Fair enough if you prefer a physical product but come on, if you can post in an online forum you can download music and buy a decent set of speakers for way under 100 quid (and burn a CD if you must). If you still insist on a CD I'll quite happily burn you the best sounding source of every Zepp show that's ever been widely traded for a tenner a pop. Hell I'll even print artwork with a loyalty scheme where you get a free show and photo book after buying a few 😉

    I am grateful to those who buy and liberate new EV sources, but buying an overpriced CD of a show that's been around forever and probably not in the best quality? Eh, just seems like a big waste of money.

    Edit: I should add that I very well get the thrill and the chase of buying physical bootlegs when you had to do that because they weren't online. The last 20 years have been revolutionary both in the way live concert recordings are now shared freely, and the online community's collective efforts to discover and document the best sources with the purest lineage, fan remasters etc

    Yeah I'm familiar with that quote, could be typical PG hyperbole, could be true verbatim.

    I've read both and Mark Blake's 2018 PG biography Bring it on Home is SO much better than Welch's. It's actually my favourite Zepp book alongside the one by Barney Hoskyns.

    The huge broadcast camera was I think from British Lion (who also were at Phun City) and TVX basically hijacked the credit for the system.

  14. Some good info on Bath 1970 below. The festival itself had 2 screens either side of the stage. Were these used for the Zeppelin performance? I've never read anything that confirms they were.

    So there are 3 possible sources of video. The black and white footage shown on the screens, the colour footage shot of the whole festival (or parts of it) and the 20-30 minute colour footage shot by Peter Whitehead contracted by the band, which is under exposed but still usable.

    So Peter Whitehead owned the footage he shot and has seen it. I was just starting a search for his contact details but it appears he died last year.

    So it appears the only real chance of Peter's footage being released is via the upcoming (hopefully) documentary or by whoever inherited the footage. I am willing to investigate this further, does anyone have any information that could help?
