I have to agree! What ALOT of you need to realize is that this footage is in the quality it is, good for us if it's now in color, or a 1st generation releases, but over all, it's LED ZEPPELIN footage, it's uncommon compared to other bands filmed and that's why I love collecting Led Zeppelin videos. Alot of people just think what is on the DVD exists on bootleg already, WRONG! There is footage of Belfast not on bootleg, the 2nd Knebworth 8mm clip (which then appeared on bootleg in 2009, in incomplete form, with the actual Knebworth songs from the DVD have more footage from this film not on bootleg), ALOT of alternate RAH, ALOT of alternate MSG/Shepperton, and ALOT of alternate Knebworth. I, like alot of people look forward to the next release, but what was have is ALOT!

Who really cares about 'it has to be pro shot quality or nothing', I am just glad video footage of shows exist be it b/w, colour, pro shot, fan shot, in-house shot, etc. If people have the 'rumored / uncirculating' shows, then at some point they will see the light of day...just have to be patient. I personally enjoy all the circulating shows, and the Page 2003 DVD. I also like the Page & Plant 'No Quarter' DVD...unusual but amazing.

Hi k5ymo!
Glad that you liked the show!
I have seen them twice since last September, my oldest son has seen them 4 times since 2008, including their induction into The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2009. They are one of my favorites! I do think that they keep getting better with time!
They are at the end of their Death Magnetic tour. The final shows are in New Zealand, Austrailia, and Japan. This tour has been ongoing since the fall of 2008. They have had a great run! They must be making billions, LOL. But they are a hard working band and very dedicated to their fans. They want everyone to be able to have the opportunity to see them on this tour, that is why it has lasted for two years. My son feels like it may be a long while before they are out touring again. You never know. That's why he saw them so many times, he feels that he may not get the opportunity again.
Hi...thanks for the cool reply. Metallica certainly pulled out all the stops and didn't look like a band going through the motions on the tail end of a 2 year sojourn!!
I took my boy along to the show too. He is 15. His first ever gig was KISS in 2004. Since then I've taken him to Metallica, AC/DC, Black Crowes, Iron Maiden...to name but a few. A proper little 'rock' chip off the old block. Need to blood him for Zeppelin though!!
Kind regards from sunny Perth, Western Australia

Just back from the first night that METALLICA played in Perth, Western Australia. First time I'd seen Metallica in what, 15 years?? since they played Donington Monsters of Rock.
What a great show they put on...they are getting better and better with age. Lars was outstanding.
Just wanted to share my METALLICA moment.

Got a few coming up in Perth, Western Australia:
Metallica on October 22
Peter Frampton (highlight of 2010 for me) on November 12
Bon Jovi on December 8 (getting dragged there by the wife!!)
U2 on December 10 (thanks ZepGirl for the 'It Might Get Loud' DVD)
Not a bad end to the year.

I bought Jimmy Page's only solo album to date yesterday at HMV for a cheap £6.
I definatley do not think Rolling Stone was fair by giving it 2 stars, in my opinon, it deserves at least a 4. I was very drawn in by the riffs in the songs. My only criticism is that it sounds a little "demo" like, but it's still a good listen.
What does everyone else make of it?
I have really liked the OUTRIDER album since it came out. It is still an album I listen to regularly to this day.
Other Jimmy albums...I must be the only one who raves about the Cocerdale/Page album...again, I love it.
The two FIRM albums, although I like them, I think they havent faired well with the passing of time.
I havent heard the DEATH WISH OST or THUNDERCHIEF by JPJ...worth checking out by all accounts.
Anyway, after all that, I would be lost without any of my Zeppelin and post music.

Bottom line is, if you don't dig the band or the music, then don't watch/listen to it!!
If you do dig the band and the music, then make the most of it.
Enjoy in whatever way you please.

Knebby,
Many thanks for the information! In lieu of the ticket stub you've still provided me some
additional leads by sharing the names of others who were there and may recall it or
said something along the way in the UK press. It's good to hear there may be a newsclip from the royal reception that could shed more light on that event. In the mid-80s Jimmy kept two photos displayed side by side in his living room; one of him with Prince Charles and the the other of him with Lady Diana. If I had to guess I'd say they were taken at
that reception for British rockers but I'm seeking to confirm it.
I am not writing a book at the moment, though many have encouraged me to do so.
In this digital age a book may not be the best way to share Led Zeppelin's legacy. Sam has launched this incredible website, for example, but clearly could have done a book as well. So, in closing, I'd say that right now I'm still just on a quest for more knowledge. If I ever do get books together I'd hope to emulate Peter Guralnick's 'Elvis Last Train to Memphis' or Bill Wyman's 'Rolling With The Stones'.
I suppose there are those who view this as mere trivia, and I won't argue the point,
but this thread is just getting started. Who knows what mysteries are to come. I'm
hoping others will post their unsolved Zeppelin mysteries in this thread too.
Yours Sincerely,
Steve A. Jones
Steve...don't pass over the chance to write a book. There is something about a Hard Back that .pdf can never match. I hate reading too much on the PC...gimme paper!! There are a lot of Zep books out there...some are great, some are good, others are just regurgitation. Go for writing the book mate!! Kenny

KISS...SONIC BOOM. The new album is really good.

I'm so chuffed... ...just bought a pair of WHARFDALE XR-4000 speakers for my music room...cranked them up for disc 2 of Mothership today while the Mrs. was out!! They sound fantastic.

Too bad Adam can't spit blood and breathe fire.
Loved KISS since '77...32 years...WOW. Got to admit, although I love the songs, the show and Stanley as a singer / songwriter, I am just totally over the merchandise being pumped out over the last 10 years and GS merchandising of 'everything'. The merchandise in the '70's was tacky, but unique for a rock band, but some of the stuff now is just plain over the top. Still, we keep buying it!!
Fav songs:
Love Gun
I was made for lovin' you
Detroit Rock City
Strutter
Mr.Speed
Newer ones that are outstanding...We are one and I just wanna (very clever, sexist lyrics!!)

John's Son, Jason Bonham Played the charity show in london last year. Compared to his dad who do you think is better???????
What a silly thread...how about some REAL discussion?

I love Manic Nirvana. It's not my favorite Plant album but as much as I thought Now and Zen was great, I liked the second project with the band he was with better. I thought the songs were much darker and more ethereal sounding. Some really intense lyrics too. You could see the shift in his writing style. Liar's Dance and Anniversary showcase Doug Boyle's amazing guitar playing. Other favorites are I Cried, Watching You and Nirvana (was so happy to see Strange Sensation do that live - only it became Bedminster instead of Nirvana ). Hurting Kind (for personal reasons) will always have a special place to me.
Tour was great too - saw several shows.
'Manic Nirvana' is an album I have liked for a long time, but 'Fate of Nations' I can listen to and listen to. It manages to press all my buttons.
As for JP, I also particularly like the 'Coverdale/Page' collaboration and the 'Outrider' album, although both albums get slated from time to time in the Forum...each to their own I suppose.
Enjoy your music people...I have 'Flying Circus' on at this precise moment. Thanks Dave in Sydney, Australia for that!!

I don't have the answer, but perhaps folks that were there can fill in some blanks.
Appologies if this thread has been posted before.

I just got THE DAMNED vinyl LP 'Anything'...it has a cover of Love's 'Alone again or' that is fantastic...nearly as good as UFO's cover of it on the 'Lights Out' album.
I still love vinyl, can't beat an LP. Need powerful new speakers to complement my amp though!!
Hey...off to see Def Leppard and Cheap Trick tomorrow night...Halloween, so looking forward to a good gig.

Now, TheDoors...Morrison Hotel. New CD had amazing 'Roadhouse Blues' out-takes.
This morning, the new 'Song Remains the Same' remaster.

I play golf with a guy who won tickets off the radio back in the day and went to the Perth gig. He swears that the show was broadcast on the radio some time after, but like Reggie, never heard a peep about it.
