  1. Knowing he was not perfect and not afraid to admit his flaws, I really can sense an internal beauty from John Lennon, under the tough, cynical shell

just thought about him around the Holiday Season, listening to Merry Christmas(War is Over)

  2. While getting drunk once in a while is not harmful, I don't feel the need to go out and do it. It doesn't interest me. Furthermore, I hate being around drunks. So why let myself get into that state? Also, getting drunk will not make you a better person. Getting drunk because you think it'll change you or make you more appealing is the sign of a serious problem.

Yeah, nothing immoral or wrong about drinking. It's just you don't need to get drunk to have a good time.

  3. Good for you! Now, after you've been around a few more decade's (or understand we that have) as we and some of the others who have been chiming in here have, you'll find out that the date rape drug's will work with a glass of water! So, just because your not drinking, will not save you from a possible rape situation! If you don't trust some guy, don't go out with him in the first place, and don't hang around him ether! You don't have to lock yourself in the dorm room all night just hang out with kid's you trust.

And don't look at drinking (any amount) as a reward, your not a trained animal, your a person. If you want to finish your meal or the evening with a drink, fine. Keeping up with your intake is cool, just don't let it rule your free time because if you worry to much about how much your over doing it you will still become addicted to it in any amount.

I know that rape doesn't have to involve alcohol or drugs. I do know that using drugs can make you lower your inhibitions and just affect your mentality in a way that you become more vulnerable. This is why I personally avoid drugs because I don't want to let it affect me like that. [well except for alcohol, in which I know it takes time to learn to use it wisely]. I never said I could never get raped, I am just saying I don't want to become even more out of control in such a situation. Now just because I don't drink all the time, you think I lock myself up in my dorm room? I do avoid the party scene [where it seems to only revolve around alcohol] but that doesn't mean I can't hang out with my friends and have fun.[there are other fun activities to do besides drinking]

I know you can use date rape drugs with water, but it does make it taste a strange way [when you drink water] and you feel something foreign or strange about it, so with water, it's a bit easier to know something strange is going on in your drink. When drinking alcohol, you expect to feel different because it's a drug in itself.

I don't see myself as a trained animal. Maybe I said it in a wrong way, I only meant to say I enjoy one glass of beer or one shot of vodka as a way to relax from finishing something extremely stressful. Everyone has their own way of drinking, I don't see anything wrong with drinking a little to mellow out in some situations. The party scene is not my thing at all, if other people like it, it doesn't bother me.

  4. I know exactly how you feel and I have witnessed it before. I am in college right now, as a freshman, and alcohol is so easily accessible. [All I have to do is knock on the next dorm over]

But I was afraid to drink heavily, not because of the alcohol, but because of the fear of date rape drugs. I don't know if that sounds rational, but that is what truly stopped me from drinking so much. But then again, alcohol, in itself, can be a date rape drug, so my point becomes moot.

I even said to myself before going to college, "I will not drink at all in college." I was extremely wrong, but then I did find my limit as other people have mentioned. It came to the point in which I didn't throw up at all anymore and then it even came to the point in which I didn't have hangovers.

Drinking in moderation is never a bad thing. A few drinks once a week won't do as much damage as drinking bottles and bottles everyday. I see a good drink [and only one glass] as a reward for working really hard. [like passing all the finals] or I see a good drink as a way to relax with friends I can trust in a mellow atmosphere [and that is like if I haven't seen a good friend in a while]. That helps me a lot. I got sick of the party scene very quickly, as men there are hornier than jackrabbits and I didn't want to deal with that anymore

  5. Hi "DeepBlackZeppelin!" How are you? How's my favorite NATALIE WOOD fan? GREAT list by the way, I am impressed. ROCK ON FOREVER my dear.

I am doing well. And thank you, I think those discoveries might help a lot of people, except it'll conflict with the last headline, lol. You rock on forever, as well.

  7. Wow, I can't believe some of the things said in this thread. How ridiculous the rape of a 13 year old child being reduced down to a "little mistake" But many people have defended the victim well.

First off, rape is not a violent crime? This isn't a matter of statutory rape, it sure as hell seems like cut-and-dry rape to me, as described in the testimony. Rape is defined as a violent crime. You can commit violence without having to kill anybody.

Well if she was 18, would you feel the same way? Of course I would! I am 18 right now and I sure as hell do not want to be in the situation that she was in. And I would definitely prosecute if I was in the same situation as her, 18 or not. If the night follows exactly as detailed in the testimony, I am just going to say......I cannot believe how some people are excusing it as "oh a mistake"

The murder of his wife was so horrible. Of course it was, Sharon Tate absolutely didn't deserve that. But that, in no way, gives ANYONE the excuse to rape a child. If he is "mentally disturbed" by the murder, he still needs to be punished. Most rapists and serial killers claim to be "mentally disturbed," they still go through trial and receive some sort of sentence [like for example how Andrea Yates did] Leave Sharon Tate out of this, she wouldn't be too happy that a 13 year old was raped.

He didn't commit rape again. Yeah, but he did commit it once, and he should be punished for that crime, whether it was 30 years ago or not.

And if it happened exactly the way it was described in the testimony, then it seems like a lot more than statutory rape. If the truth isn't being told, that's a different story.

Maybe there are loopholes in the justice system and I can't control that, 2 years taken off for this, 2 years for that, but he still deserves to be punished. I am not saying throw him in the cell with Charles Manson or anything cruel, but it's ridiculous to think he shouldn't pay some time for it.

  8. I hate teenage boys, I hate them.

There's this one kid on our bus from the begining who was already starting trouble. First he whistles on the bus very loudly and repeatedly, then he starts to say some mean things to one of my friends, then he starts spitting spitballs on the bus!! SPITBALLS, you know how disgusting that is??!!! If I were a Principle or his mom, I would send boys like him to Boot Camp, cause it seems like thats the only way to learn how to behave!

    :angry::angry::angry:

The funny thing is you would think older guys in college are more mature, but.....it's not too true. But luckily for you, there are less of them as they get older and you get older.

  9. Falling for a complete asshoe who makes you feel like crap, just for existing, and seemed to be kind and caring at....first and then begins to think you only have a [censored] and not human emotions and still feeling like crap, even though you know he's an utter idiot and you want to leave it at that.

at least, I recognized it before it was too late unlike last time. I definitely don't mind giving the stereotypical "nice guy" a chance, I don't know why they get such a bad rep.

  10. In theory it sounds nice, but the biggest reason I believe it remains to be illegal is not because of stereotypes, but because it threatens the plastics, paper, and various chemical corporations. A lot of companies banded together to prevent the heavy competition from hemp growers.

Yeah, and it'll be better for the environment. I'd rather have hemp being used for making these products than toxic crap that is barely recycled.

[not to be a tree-hugger, but hemp is a much better counterpart to these industries]

  11. rabia, they will fade with time. They don't always go all the way away and I know that isn't what you want to hear. It's like stretch marks, they fade but they will never completely disappear.

Ok thanks for telling me, I heard Vitamin E helps a bit, many times but I have no proof

    I hate that too, Rabia.

I only break out on my chin, and only during that special week. By the time I look normal again, they start up again, dangit!

Oh yes, I wish it'd stay in the puberty years and not come back after that

  12. On the subject of acne, please tell me these post-acne marks will go away....eventually.

You know those red dots that appear on the skin after a pimple is gone.

I swear I don't pick at my pimples. I don't really have an acne problem any more either, it's just the marks afterwards.

And Tony, I agree with slave to zep and mandy

  13. Not within music, but just in general, a few times.

But Rich my friend, how are you a showoff when you're on that stage purely to have fun and to make music the audience is to be entertained by.

If you're a showoff, then by definition, all musicians and, even further than that, all performers are showoffs then.

When on the stage, you perform, simple as that. And getting so involved in your music makes it even better.

  14. Clinique makes a great line of skin care products. Face washes, toners, astringents, make-up removers, moisturizers.....the whole nine yards. My sister has VERY sensitive skin and uses them religiously and one time while were road-tripping, I had no choice but to use her products as I'd left mine at home.

I have used Clinique's products ever since.

Cool, my mom manufactures Clinique products.

As for acne, well the thing is if you continue using the medicated creams, like every day, it does get immune to it a little bit. But if you use it for the occasional pimple that pops out once in a while, it works great for that.

I also send positive wishes your way, TonyIommi

  15. Right now, I'm digging Bollywood actor, Hrithik Roshan

    D2Hrithik2.jpg

    hrithik2.jpg

He's not a 60's or 70's British rocker [not that there is anything wrong with them], but he's still.....a "beautiful", maybe more ruggedly good-looking, man

  16. My pet peeve of the moment is family members saying they'll help you, then when it comes down to the point where you need the help they said woud be there.. it's nowhere to be seen. They like to pretend they care and want to help, but then run off to ignore the problems after that.

    Sorry to hear about that.

You can always choose your friends but you can't choose your family, I know how that is [sorta, with some of them]

  17. Hello everyone who has welcomed me back and I really appreciate the warm welcome.

Evs, long hair or short hair, you still look great.

I kinda did infiltrate this thread with too much tragedy

[not to downplay or trivialize the tragedy]

but to get back in the spirit,............mosquitoes.....are very annoying....yeah

I hate their buzzing around you and stuff before they come in to bite you....but I hate cockroaches just as much, [dealt with them at a resort, luckily not at home]

their fat bodies just hanging around in the corner, lurking around, thinking they're so cool with their long antennaes whishing up and down.

  18. It's good to see you here DBZ. I'm so sorry for what you have to go through - it's ignorance on people's parts. What made this country unique is the melting pot of cultures from all over the world. I embrace that all the time and find there's so much you can gain from experiencing how others live and their customs/beliefs etc. I'm sure it's also a stress to having family abroad with all the troubles going on right now. I wish things would settle down soon all over the world. It's a really tumultuous time right now.

Thank you very much for your input, good to see you too.

I really appreciate that there are people like you who tolerate other cultures and don't give into the mob mentality and find time to learn and to appreciate. It really means a lot.

And yes, it is very tumultuous right now, but reading how longdistancewinner also felt separated from her family lets me know that I'm not the only one who feels a tragic cleft with family members. Knowing that both of our relatives were [are] persecuted makes me not feel alone.

  19. I'm from a Jewish family. Most of them settled in London, and, as a consequence, are buried there. Because of the antisemitism and bigotry that Jews have suffered, I can no longer visit their graves because the cemetery has been desecrated so many times. You either have to book, or it's not open to the public at all. I can't even get a new headstone for my grandfather because they closed the cemetery. They set fires in the cemetery. Who does that? And, why? Because it's a Jewish resting place? It's heartbreaking. So, not only did they suffer persecutioin in their homeland (Warsaw), but even after death, they still couldn't escape it. :(

I am very sorry to hear about that, that is a terrible situation. I can't even imagine how it'd be like to feel that sorrow, knowing you can't even visit his stone. I hope your grandfather found peace and salvation in a realm far too good for this mundane world.
