  1. I'm not too sure about the date, but it was definitely in Life magazine at some point around the late/mid-1980s. Edit: Here it is: Elvis.com link "Robert Plant made his second visit to Graceland this week. Plant's first visit was in 1987 for a LIFE Magazine photo shoot with other music stars for the magazine's feature commemorating the 10th anniversary of Elvis's passing."
  2. I have a large print of this shot, packed up somewhere. Great photo.
  3. Here's a first look at the upcoming Mojo cover on Jimmy: EDIT: problem with our server.
  4. Another gem Blocoboy. The 18th has always been associated with the NY gig, due to press reports (i.e. here). Perhaps they didn't appear there afterall and started the tour in California?
  5. They were part of the auction which included these photos, taken by the same fan who obtained those autographs:
  6. As of the last board upgrade, you can also upload jpgs directly in your post.
  7. I received an additional list of dates which are sourced from ads in the Birmingham Evening Mail and Nottingham Post and Mail. This is an updated rough list which I'll eventually be adding to robertplant.com. 8. Before you guys start digging up IRS records.... I've asked a member of Zep about the Vegas '69 show. He couldn't confirm the actual date, but definitely remembered the wood floors (as described in the Las Vegas Weekly article mentioned in the LZ Timeline ) and recalled staying at Ceasar's Palace Hotel).
  9. Correct, that video is from New Orleans 3/14/00. The entire show was filmed. Not sure exactly how many gigs were professionally filmed (multi-camera) in their entirety, but the New Orleans video is the best one overall that I've seen.
  10. The '77 programme only used live pics from the first date(s) of the tour. You can browse through all the programmes here: http://www.ledzeppelin.com/flipbooks
  11. Both rehearsal shots are from Manticore studios in the UK, same photographer, different days. Near the end of rehearsals, JPJ shaved. An example of the session where they "posed" at Manticore is the above b&w pic. There's an article I have about TSRTS NY premiere which specificially mentions the photographer from People magazine being there at the Plaza Hotel and the difficulty in getting the band to "sit still together for the group shot". (paraphrasing the quote as I don't have it in front of me).
  12. The photo session for People magazine (and used for a few others, like Grooves) was done in NY while they were there promoting The Song Remains the Same, late Oct. '76. http://www.ledzeppelin.com/image/photos-ho...nes/people-1976 http://www.ledzeppelin.com/image/photos-ho...es/grooves-1976 The '77 rehearsals photos were this session:
  13. This is all 8mm silent home movie footage filmed by the band / John Bonham. We provided some of this Headley Grange footage for use in "It Might Get Loud". Japan '71 footage shows them traveling around, on the train, walking in Hiroshima park where the well-known photos were taken, etc.
  14. David "Screaming Lord" Sutch was with Rodney in Vegas (they were good friends) to meet Elvis in summer '69 I was friends with Sutch and he told me about this meeting, but I don't know if this was July or August. He never mentioned anything about any Zep members being there at that occasion. Attached is a photo he gave me: L to R: Rodney, Sutch, The King. He told me that he was speaking to Elvis about the possibility of coming to the UK to perform as this pic was taken.
  15. Rodney was never an owner of the Whisky. I asked about that a while back and Jimmy's recollection was that the Jan. 3rd show was not played.
  16. If I remember correctly, May 8, 2004 and he jammed a few covers including "Crossroads" and "What I'd Say".
  17. John Bonham’s “Andy’s Instant T” rod at home in England http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/entertainment/behind_the_wheel/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/instnttside.jpg http://news.bostonherald.com/blogs/enterta...he_wheel/?p=488 If you still have your VHS copy of “The Song Remains the Same” then you are definitely familiar with the car in the following photos. A man named Will, from England, reports that he lives right down the street from where one of John Bonham’s former cars underwent some updating last year. Will saw this earlier post and sent over a couple shots of the C-Cab Ford Model T-based hotrod that still displays its original name: “Andy’s Instant T.” Built in the early 1970s by Andy Brizio in San Francisco, California, and later shipped to the United Kingdom by the late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, this particular “Andy’s Instant T” car was left sitting for quite some time. The current owner purchased the car from Bonham’s family after his death with the understanding that the car not be old in the future. Although the paint and bodywork remained in very good condition, the motor needed major attention and the Dougsport shop in Stourbridge, England was chosen to handle the task. (From what I’ve been reading, there are other Ts built by Brizio that fit into the category of being one of the Instant T type of T buckets.) Though the T now runs a type of supercharger that wasn’t originally included when Brizio built the car, the rest of the ride remains as when Bonham owned the custom C-Cab Model T. http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/entertainment/behind_the_wheel/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/instanttengine.jpg The iconic Zeppelin drummer reportedly bought the car around 1974. By this time, master automotive painter Art Himsl had already applied the custom ribbon paintwork and accompanying “Andy’s” lettering. These days, the newly revived Chevy V8 resides up front while a few old Zeppelin tour posters and a pack of cigarettes can still be found in the back. Even though we’re not sure exactly when Bonham first got to park “Andy’s Instant T” in his own garage, it can now be said that after an engine rebuild at Dougsport, (which normally builds racing engines) the T runs just as well, if not better, than when it was last seen with Bonham at the controls. http://www.drcreview.com/news/articlefiles/181-NECandyst425.gif --
