  1. I went to the music store and the Orange was already put away and locked up. The owner was kind enough to tell me to come back later and he'd have it out for me to ogle over....man, I was drooling. I touched it thinking how many times Jimmy did...there's even a cig burn in it, LOL!

  2. Ive seen something similiar with pistachio pudding. So you are out Charles? Have to check the threads. Glad to hear it.

Oh YEAH! I remember that stuff, it was great! Anyone know what Yukons talking about? Have a recipe???? :D

PS. What made me happy today. Hearing Charles is home and completing 2 peices of jewelry I've been working on.

  3. Thanks ninelives.

Picture of the front of my house today.

The front yard looks like a hay field as our lawn mower broke when my husband mowed the grass this week.

Also, we live out in the country on a hill and the weather is colder than in the city, so our trees are not in full bud and bloom yet. Our seasons are a little later than other places.

Doc, your home is lovely! Wow, so funny, for whatever reason, I pictured you as male, LOL! My apologies and happy Mothers Day!

  4. Managing to tell someone at work to get fucked in the politest and non confrontational manner, love when I can pull that off! Now....I'm mixing a margarita..it's been that kinda week. 11 hour days and back to back to back to back meetings make for a VERY cranky Medhb.

  5. got 4 of 6. i had 5 of 6 but allowed my friend to drag his buddy into the pool. Never again. I will wait til the next big carryover and get a few guys to take a pool shot at it. I hit one at Belmont with a two dollar bill last year. Only got $1100 because many favorites. but sometimes these things pay over a million. Not like playing the lottery. You actually have a chance. I covered myself with some win tickets anyhow.

Good for you Yukon!! Hm, 'I had xxx but xxx'...sounds like I'm talking to my dad, or my father in law, or my husband, LOL! I always say "Same story, just change the numbers"

Yes, at least you DO stand a better shot than the lottery. I have a friend who is a brilliant developer, he swore he was going to write an application to calculate all the variables and choose the winner. We had a lot of fun as he worked away at it. Everyday he'd discover some new variable that you just can't account for. I just laughed at him because I knew he'd eventually figure out that it can't be 'figured out'. :D

  6. LOL!!! about Borel. But I have to say, he cracks me up. I kinda like him. :) But I do agree the horse probably won't win another leg of the Triple Crown.

this all being said, who i REALLY can't stand is that arrogant trainer...can't remember his name/don't want to. i thought he was SOOO rude/arrogant towards the media/reporters. It was an embarrassment the way he acted on BOTH interviews (pre/post race) to the poor NBC people. I mean it is the Kentucky Derby..you KNEW it was going to be a media circus!! Be gracious, and just enjoy the fact you got there, and then WON the damn race!! JEEEESH...I have no use for the guy....

    Sharon

I'm happy for the guy. It's hard competing against the billionairs. This is a trainer that actually TRAINS his horse, good for him! Reading some of the comments on the Youtube vids confirms that most people enjoyed seeing the underdog win. I missed the post race interview but don't see the arrogance

name is Bennie Woolley ;) Hm. I missed the entire embarrassment factor :D
  7. At least Ill get refunds for my wagers on him. Another black eye for racing seeing that $9000 piece of shit win. He wont win another leg. And that toothless idiot Borel should keep his yap shut on national TV. What an idiot. They should check Borel's pockets for a buzzer or eletronic device and do a blood test on that pig that won. Probably gave him a "milk shake" before the race!

Oh I so have to disagree! I had the most fun in ages watching the derby!! Having been in the same underdog position I am delighted for both the jockey and the trainer. The jockeys excitement was contaigous! Good for him!! He won the Oaks the day before and didn't he win the Derby last year? Pretty good for the old fart.

And...I'll bet a million that his blood is clean. Shit track, all mud, a long shot will come in 9 times out of 10. Many horses can't handle the mud and others shine. Obviously Mine that Bird likes the mud.

Plus, I was happy to see a good ole boy win instead of a Sheik. Sorry if that seems prejudiced but the good ole boy probably works a hell of a lot harder at it than the Sheiks. LOL!

Yukon, sounds like you know a lot about racing. I can't say what they're pulling with the thouroughbreds but 'milkshaking' is one of the most natural 'remedies' in the world and should never have been banned. Just plain ass stupid. It's really harder on the animal as an athelete to compete without something so natural that could help him/her perform to their best ability without suffering the results of the fast release of the lactic acids from their muscles. Some atheletes bodies don't deal with it as well as others.

OK, rah rah for the underdog!! :D

  8. Not even 10 am here and its already 75 degrees. They are saying 84 and humid. Which means high 80's for sure. They always predict on the low side to protect their butts if they are wrong. And they are wrong often. In for a hot one.

That's what we had. It sucked. I just want a nice normal spring day please! Just one???!

  9. Interesting...

.....and thanks for the earlier Talisman Mystery you solved ...if you know any more details keep us posted....I enjoyed corresponding on this thread....

take care, and sorry for any confusion...and I think this mystery has appeared here before too...

(I think there could be another possibility of the said symbol...acquired in/around '67 Trip to India...I will look into this ancient dynasty symbol...later..

    PlanetPage :D:D

Awesome! Maybe we'll get some ideas. Please share anything you can dig up. Maybe someone can get a clearer shot of the symbol for us! That would help tremendously :)

  10. That would be a very cool thread indeed. It sounds as if there are many here who could enlighten us on symbols and semiotics.

I wasn't offended, for the record, nor am I imputing motives, merely used my first impression as an example of others' associations with a symbol. It's a learned response, so how people react is telling in and of itself and worthy of examination. That's the other side benefit of looking further into meanings, both of which I am open to learning more about.

Strange that there's no connection made to Semitic roots in the link you provided...

And just to clarify, I don't think anyone is assuming Page was wearing THE swastika symbol most commonly attributed to the Nazi regime, just that if it was A swastika or something that looked like it, then people would have made that negative connection regardless of what meaning it had to him.

Well said as always Patrycja! Thanks for clarifying my point for me in case it was misunderstood.

  11. .....The Swastika is a origin of Hinduism Symbol, a symbol of Sun, first letter of Hindi Alphabet, the Letter KAH as in K....

I took over this thread from the magnified picture onward...as to whether it is a Swastika? or A Monster?...

For that matter, it could be anything else as you suggest, you may be right, but finally, I would say, it is not a Nazi Germany Symbol, representing the Swastika...as I understood...

Medhb...we are just trying to solve this...no disagreements... :D:D

    thanks for helping...

Of course! No problems. It looks like it shall remain a mystery until someone gets a better view. Now I'm looking at it in different adjustments in PS and it appears it could be triskelion....

  12. ...Tks for responding...

I am aware of of this trip as per previous discussion a while ago...It is very possible the necklace could be acquired there, but IT IS NOT ACQUIRED for the purpose of Swastika....The construction of the script/letter "KAH" as in english "K" absolutely does not match up....(It is the symbol of Sun, first letter of the Hindi Script)...I have posted some more details in another post...

    Thank you again,

    sincerely, PlanetPage

I'm not disagreeing with you but aren't you assuming it is a Hindu symbol? That was never insinuated unless I missed it a few pages back.

  13. The Symbol has two many Arms/Legs extending for it to be letter K in Sanskrit/Hindi (This letter represents Swastika)... (Sorry, I knew it just by looking at first glance, and when I looked for the letter Kah (K)...it appeared to be something else, as in some sort of picture...

The Swastika can have most is 4 Top/bottom, left/right side...the symbol in question has two many...

It is NOT a swastika...I hope it helps...

I'm not insisting it is a swastika, however I'm not going to insist that it isn't. Or one of the other similar symbols such as the solar cross as someone else mentioned. We can't say anything for sure without seeing a much better picture of the symbol. Too many shadows and you can tell it is a rather rough hewn peice of metal...the surface of the metal itself could be casting shadows that were magnified when I tweaked the pic in photoshop.

What is distinct is the definate sharp angles...does anyone know of a similar symbol with such angles?

  14. Medhb...tks for revealing this...I asked about this earlier, over at Hot pic's of Jimmy....Can anyone explain a little more about this particular piece? tks.

I wish I could. It's the first time I've seen it. I'm assuming it is a new piece but my assumption means nothing. Almost certainly custom made and a nice size stone. Since it's black and white it's difficult to determine what the stone is. That would be more telling....if we knew what stone he is wearing.

  15. Jimmy has recalled going to India alone when the other members of The Yardbirds opted

to go to San Francisco instead. This trip would have been circa August 1967, consistent

with around the era the photo was taken. Perhaps he acquired it there? The mystery continues!

Oh cool! Anyone good with photoshop?? Or any other program? Where's CSI when you need them. I always love all those computer programs they have. :)

  16. Sadly, maybe not. Though I'm aware of a few of its associations, the first one that comes to mind is still the SS. The black one, a Teutonic or Iron Cross, sends shivers down many a spine depending who you show it to, and it's not because they associate it with the Knights Templar. Couple that with the other one which may look like a swastika (though if the ends are curved could be a pagan sun cross) and you can imagine the uphill battle. Symbols are what people associate them to be. Page may have attributed different meanings to his medallions, but these were working against a context that had learned to associate much more sinister meanings to them. Every now and then it surprises me that he chose to wear such things...

Interesting! I had no idea that many people felt that way about hte Teutonic cross also. I imagine Jimmy wore these symbols realizing their real meaning and not careing what others thought. And perhaps hoping to a degree that people might be enlightened by looking further into the meanings.

Steve...so sorry to highjack the thread...if anyone is interested we could start a thread on symbolism. It looks like there are several people here that could add a lot to it....could be a great topic!

  17. No interuption! Hmmmm, I'm not seeing what you are trying to point out but fascintating link if a little over my head as far as language skill, LOL!

What we need is someone better than me with photoshop or some other program that can capture a clearer image of the pendant. I had to change some of the levels to bring it out and it does appear that it could be one of the other versions of the symbol. I'm quite certain it is, look at it from a few angles....

Of course I'm blind as a bat so...but yes, I'm finding this fascinating too!

When I blew the shot up I could clearly see he had two rings on his right ring finger. One was thin with a single gem in the middle and the other was a wide band.

This is the only shot I've ever seen from this occasion though, wish there were more. Steve, where and when was that again?

    TIA

sorry to interrupt, but I have looked at very closely, and...

From my knoweldge, ( I am fluent in read/written Hindi) the symbol DOES NOT appear to be a swastika, in fact, I am most certain it does not represent the Letter in Sanskrit, it is just a Loch Ness Monster...The ending does not match in Sanskrit/Hindi.... (the symbol, anyhow, represents the letter K in English, and it is the First Alphabet of Hindi Language....

    Pls. scroll to bottom....

  18. Steve, you've posted this pic before but one really can't see the symbol. When I asked if it was an equal armed cross you said again, no a German cross. Out of curiosity, as this was brought up again, I blew this shot up can now see he is wearing two crosses. You probably were refering to the black one but I didn't notice it next to the shiny one, LOL!

One is an equal armed cross, of which the design appears to be of the Knights Templar (though some people refer to that as a German cross, there are many other varients as I'm sure you know) AND the other appears, at least to me, to be a Swastika (also, sadly, known as a German cross).

So if people were upset (for reasons that were unjust) it was probably over the silver pendant, not the black one.

On that note...I find it really cool that Jimmy is wearing his talismans again. I, personally, see this as 'good things to come'. Jimmy's revving up the power ; )

    No, this one:

Scotland had fought Germany in World War I & II.
