Robert Plant
Stops Being Polite,
"I'm Not Such An Old Hippie"
By Charles M. Young
Musician June 1990
Three years off cigarettes, a few weeks off caffeine, four hours off the Concorde from London, Robert Plant settles down in a tightly packed armchair in his New York hotel suite with only a pot of room service decaf to stimulate the interview process.
"I just lost a tooth," he says, fingering a well-capped incisor, the bags under his eyes radiating the imminent onset of jet lag. "I bit on an Indonesian meatball and it cracked-the tooth, not the meatball-and it didn't actually fall out until I was doing this live interview on television in Amsterdam. Did you ever try to talk while holding a tooth in with the tip of your tongue? I sounded like one of the Goons from the BBC. Then we mimed a song and I wore these black gloves that I waved mysteriously in front of my mouth. Made it even more deep and meaningless. Made it peculiar, deep and meaningless. I always thought I'd lose it to some young lady delivering a fast uppercut, which happened once. Who would have guessed an Indonesian meatball? Ah well, it's only right that people who have been around as long as I have should occasionally fall apart a little bit".

Breeders Cup is at Santa Anita in California this year. Oct 24th and 25th. I think it may be tougher than usual for European horses crossing the Atlantic for this years races as they must travel across about 8 time zones. It will be on a poly surface that will supposedly favor closers.
I haven't watched the Breeders Cup in several years. Thanks for posting this reminder.
If I remember right, don't they have turf races also? I used to watch all the races. I have some friends that use to tape it and I would go to their house watch it. Now that I have read this, I going to check with them. It would be fun, especially listening to every ones post race analysis.

Suppossedly, Axl is now taking his meds and so has his shit together. In the past, yes he was an ass. The man has been arrested so many times for his belligerant behavoir it isnt funny. Moving on to "Chinese Democracy", the album is all over the internet in bits and pieces. I've listened to several songs and its not bad. I really like "Madagascar" which has an epic sweep to it. Axl's voice sounds terrific. He may not be a likeable person but he can write good songs.

My kids are pretty awesome too. I picked up my son after school yesterday and we went to the coffee house and had lattes. We have been so busy and missed spending time together. My daughter came upstairs tonight and watched television on the internet with me which was cool too.

Joan Sutherland and Luciano Pavarotti-La Travaitta on vinyl. Not sure I spelled that right. I've never bought anything opera before. It was only a dollar and I'm trying to expand my musical horizons so I figured what the hell.

Kudos, Ev and Rover. That was absolutely wonderful. Ev, that answered a lot of questions I had about Thelema. Rover, I was reading Ev's post and thinking how some of it reflected basic biblical philosophy and then, I read your post. I think the true meaning of Zoso has been found.

I was just watching a movie "Small Town Girl " 1936. I wasn't really paying attention and then one of the characters said, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, "...............Stairway to Paradise" this really percked up my ears and watching the movie a little longer a character was introduced as "ZOSO" "Zoso" this and "Zoso"
could this classic film have been a partial inspiration? I guess we'll never know for sure.
It could have been a partial inspiration. Kay married Bob to get out of her dull life. Priscilla wanted his money and social position. "Shes buying the stairway to heaven" fits this movie perfectly.

I don't think that he hated him. Plant is someone who enjoys originality. I would say that he had no respect for Coverdale who was a Plant clone but hate would be too strong of a word. From interviews that I have read, he did enjoy making fun of Coverdale.
