  1. I'm a bit late reading this thread, but just wanted to say I think Steve meant to type that Zep never stayed at the *Drake Hotel* again, and he accidentally typed The Plaza Hotel in the response. Sam noted that they stayed at the Plaza in '75, '76 TSRTS premiere and '77. (For anyone not too familiar with Manhattan, The Drake was located at Park and 56th, torn down in 2007. The Plaza still remains at 5th Avenue and 59th, aka Central Park South.) This thread is great reading, really enjoy reading the variety of topics on it.
  2. Rockin' Down the Highway - Doobie Brothers
  3. Fool For the City - Foghat
  4. Paul Rodgers said it was Robert Plant who suggested the song they would perform together at Oxford.
  5. The handprints and autographed signatures that were located at the Virgin Megastore in Piccadilly have not been there for quite a long time now, I don't recall seeing them after 2007.
  6. Sad news indeed. Thanks for everything you did creating Royal-Orleans, a 5 Star hotel. R.I.P. Jason
  7. Not that anyone thinks he would have otherwise agreed... He's already booked the 1st weekend of the Oldchella Desert Festival in October. Robert and the Sensational Space Shifters are on the line-up to appear downtown L.A. during the "Festival of Disruption" October 8-9 at the Ace Hotel (same venue Jimmy did his interview with Chris Cornell). Tickets go on sale this Friday, 6/24.
  8. Scylla, The 4 pictures above are the photos that feature the clothing that was worn on 12th February 1975. (So only the last 4 pics from your original post on 6th May 2014).
  9. Definitely not Steve Perry! The front row (L to R) is Paul Rodgers, Simon Kirke, *Mick Ralphs* and Phil Lynott. Bad Company's Boz Burrell is back row far left, then Scott Gorham, Eric Clapton and Robert. Maybe someone can fill in the next 3. The tallest, in the very back, is John Illsley of Dire Straits, then Mark Knopfler in the striped sweater, and his brother David. It was taken at a launch for the benefit album, The Summit. All proceeds from the 1979 lp were donated to "The Year of the Child", a charity designated to help sick and disabled children. It featured Led Zep's Candy Store Rock and Bad Company's Rock & Roll Fantasy in addition to a song each from ELO, Wings, Gerry Rafferty, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Cliff Richard, Supertramp, Thin Lizzy, YES and Pink Floyd.
  10. This photo was taken in June 2010 when Jimmy visited a samba school in Rio de Janeiro. It was reported he was taking footage of percussionists.
  11. I don't think the Hawaiin shirt in this video (from the July 85 visit to Les Paul's house) is the same shirt as the 3 photos the girl posted on Twitter. Jimmy wore a variety of these shirts that often appear similar but if you look at the shirt placket, the Twitter pics have more of a black background (subtler flower) on the placket than the bolder floral pattern seen on the placket in above video- i think. (You can see a still photo with same bolder patterned shirt as on video here on Steve's LZ Photo Mysteries pg 52) On Twitter, she said her Dad took these 3 photos when he hung out "with Zepp" at a hotel in New Orleans. The way the 3 pictures were on Twitter (laying on ceramic tile) we can only see his arm in the bottom photo. https://mobile.twitter.com/fawnykins/status/289873451739660289/photo/1 She also mentioned her father will be playing in a LZ tribute band at Napper Tandys.
  12. Coverdale/Page drummer Denny Carmassi was asked 10 Questions by John Wardlaw in a brief interview. Below is the last question, and the link to read the others if you like. http://www.anti-m.com/montrose/tenq_denny.htm JW. Is there any project or projects you have worked on that you wish more people knew about? DC. I guess it would have to be the Coverdale Page project. It was such a fun record to make with such a great group players. I guess some people know about it though, I have a platinum record hanging up on my wall. It's a shame that band never got to tour the United States, only a tour of Japan. We did some sessions in Miami that someday may see the light of day.
  13. I was center right in front of the stage, and Robert and Jimmy both were smiling and quite happy as they stood up there with Dennis. That's not to say they were not informed backstage just who he was and his significance to this particular crowd and evening. It's also not to draw any conclusion about what Page thought about Rodman either. All of Chicagoland was ablaze with excitement from the win, so having one of the Bulls come out on stage where they play ball (United Center) took most members of the already soaring crowd even higher. I guess the question might be did they want to invite him out- or did they just expect to have him VIP side/backstage and then it just happened given Rodman's presence and demeanor and they rolled with it. Jimmy did look different in that Bulls Championship t-shirt and cap, however it could be pointed out he seemed to toss-on promotional t-shirts for most encores prior to fall 98 leg. .
  14. I expected Outrider bass player Durban Laverde's name to be spelled correctly (Lerverdi ?! ) No, actually I guess I didn't. If they couldn't spell Paul Rodgers' name properly on Sept 1st, why should Durban Laverde be any different.
