  1. IMO, people are responsible for their own happiness; relationships should be the icing on the cake. We do go out and do things with other people (he: football, me: theatre). And there's no sense having a relationship if it's not happy/healthy; better to not have one at all.
  2. We've been married for 17 years and together for almost 20 (with 3 beautiful kids!). He is really a wonderful guy; he's very kind, laid back, funny, spontaneous, outgoing and knows everybody in a 100 mile radius He is also a wonderful father, very community-minded and family-oriented. Sometimes we do drive each other nuts, because in some ways we're very different and in other ways exactly alike (both pretty stubborn!) but we work it out and have a great partnership. I truly love him and can't imagine being married to anybody else. I definitely consider him to be my best friend.
  3. Unfortunately math was never my best subject. Thankfully the trickiest math I have to do these days is budgeting and determining percentage increases/decreases. And maybe some interest rate equations.
  4. My favorites are the French impressionists and Italian Renaissance painters and sculptors. Monet, Degas, Renoir, Cassat, Carvaggio, Michelangelo, Bernini ...
  5. I took my 14 y.o. daughter to her first concert this fall and was shocked to see people holding up their lit cell phones when the lights dimmed. Then I got the blank stare from her when I explained about cigarette lighters. They were still using lighters when I saw the Eagles in '02 My first concert was Boston/Sammy Hagar in '78 or '79; I was 13, got dropped off and picked up afterwards. The entire arena was in a fog so everyone was stoned.
  6. Awww, he is such a cutie!!
  7. The pool opened today They had a pool opening picnic too, so I didn't have to make dinner Also hubby and son are back from the soccer tournament and he is working on the washing machine.

  9. Seeing my beautiful dancing daughters at their recital today
  10. Subject: 5 surgeons Five surgeons from big cities are discussing who makes the best patients to operate on. The first surgeon, from New York, says, 'I like to see accountants on my operating table because when you open them up, everything inside is numbered.' The second, from Chicago , responds, 'Yeah, but you should try electricians! Everything inside them is color coded.' The third surgeon, from Houston , says, 'No, I really think librarians are the best, everything inside them is in alphabetical order'. The fourth surgeon, from Los Angeles chimes in: 'You know, I like construction workers.. Those guys always understand when you have a few parts left over.' But the fifth surgeon, from Washington, DC shut them all up when he observed: 'You're all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate on. There's no guts, no heart, no balls, no brains and no spine, and the head and the ass are interchangeable.

My washing machine is leaking. I'm googling possible causes and how to fix them. Not my idea of a fun Friday night.
  15. Oh; he is absolutely precious!!
  16. Tuesday evening, I paid $41 for half a tank of gas. This morning I paid $52 for somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4 tank.
  17. Woo Hoo; congratulations!! I'm getting ready to pick up the kids; today is their last day of school. I have a present to take to our youngest daughter's teacher, whom she has had for the last 2 years (K-1st), and whom we all adore and will miss terribly :'(
  18. My very strong opinion is that replacing any of the 3 surviving members must = a new band with a different name. I don't think Led Zeppelin would carry on as such unless all of the surviving members were participating anyway; especially not as Led Zeppelin with another singer. I just don't see them doing that at all; that would be sacrilege. However Jason as drummer still = Led Zeppelin.
  19. You realize that all goes out the window when you have kids....
  20. This is kind of nerdy but it made me laugh: http://www.snotr.com/video/1072
