  1. I love Dave's backup vocals on this. Sadly it's not a live recording, but a great song. Kinks - Supersonic Rocket Ship (1972)
  2. That was excellent. It appears there are other youtube clips from the same performance. I'll check them out tomorrow. And the Apeman video was also excellent.
  3. Here's a good one. In order, Barrie, John, Martin, David Palmer and Ian, then come the song...
  4. I listen to stuff like this and just loose it....
  5. This is a very good greatest hits collection covering 1977-1986. I purchased it to avoid buying all the rock-opera concept albums(see below) This is another great one with a couple of classics. Celluloid Heroes and a personal favorite Supersonic Rocket Ship. The two LP set includes a two live sides. For what it's worth here is what the wikipedia entry says..."Everybody's in Show-Biz is often seen as a transition album for The Kinks, marking the change in Ray Davies' songwriting style toward more theatrical, campy and vaudevillian work, as evidenced by the rock-opera concept albums that followed it. It is also considered by most critics as the end of The Kinks' "golden age."
  6. Try this one...wikipedia has writeups on a bunch of Kink LP's.
  7. Milk - OMG, Sean Penn will win an oscar for that one.
  8. On Friday, I locked in a refinance mortgage rate at 4.84% for probably 25 years. Holy S. Article in today's paper said rates have NEVER been this low.
  9. This morning I screwed up a medium level Sudoku puzzle from the newspaper. I usually blow through the mediums in about 5 minutes. I just laughed it off.
  10. Does anybody feel sorry for Woodsy? Not me.
  11. Could somebody please provide a year by year analysis of The Who vs. Led Zeppelin. Start from The Who's inception in 1964, comparing guitar, bass, drums, keyboard (synth, piano and organ), singing, lyrics, song writing. Next would be LP vs. LP on a year to year basis. Let's figure it OUT.
  12. Okay, Joel, I understand your position. How about this? The top five bands of all time. 1. Beatles. 2. Jethro Tull. Still touring the world. 60 plus shows per year. 3. Tie between Led Zeppelin and The Who 4. Doobie Brothers. Can't ignore all the hits during the 70's and 80's, plus the Michael McDonald years. 5. Maybe The Eagles (with Joe Walsh only).
  13. Other things in the Who's favor - Tommy was performed on Broadway and show has toured the US, The Who have more greatest hits collections(hence more hits), The Who have survived with only two living members, Zeppelin can't even survive with three. More, there are 9 different versions of The Who's Live at Leeds, 7 different versions of Tommy and 14 different versions of Who's Next. Nuff said.
  14. Of course you are giving the edge to Zeppelin. (This is a Zeppelin forum). I come here as more of a neutral opinion.
  15. I would say instrument for instrument the bands are about equal, plus and minus here and there. Voice wise take your pick Plant or Daltry. For me, the big difference is songwriting and lyrics, winner = The Who. Sorry, The Who win.
  16. Currently there are NO shows on my schedule. My wife has mentioned wanting to see Springsteen, since he will probably tour to promote the new CD. I'm not as enthusiastic, having been to a bunch of Springsteen shows in recent years.
  17. On a scale of 1 to 10, the Beatles are a 12, Zeppelin is a 2 and every other band falls somewhere between 0 and 1. I'm not only talking about the music. They are just so incredible to watch. I saw a rehearsal on youtube of Two of Us that just plain awesome. No other performer will ever match the impact they had on popular culture and the world.
  18. I recently spent some time watching The Beatles on youtube. You watch that stuff and just scratch your head.
  19. I'm declaring 2009, the hard rock year. Everything I buy will be hard freaking rock. Distortion, feedback, power chords, the whole enchilada. No more cry baby music, no more California rock, no more acoustic crap. Ya hear me!!
  20. I was briefly a member of The Alan Parsons Project. I'll leave it at that.
