He's 31 years older than I am and that makes me so sad, because this is how he looked when I was born, plus they were in LA.

You know you are getting a little jaded when the photogs have to bring strippers to keep you amused!!
I never heard there were tensions for the photo shoot. If there were, my guesses are:
--Bonzo mad as he did not know everyone else was going to show up as a fashionista.
--Percy had to wear a tie (I don't think I've ever seen him wear one before or since).
--Funny thing about Jimmy & His Hair, riding in a convertible to the shoot. What was it that Grant used to call him behind his back when Pagey used to primp his hair in the mirror??
--Jonesy was worried the strippers might be from New Orleans and/or were transvestites.
I think the nickname Page earned for primping his hair was 'Old Girl'. I'll have to look up where I read that but I recall reading an anecdote about Page fuming at his driver because the convertible messed up his hair. Miss Pamela recounted in her book that Page used Pantene products at the time she was with him, and apparently she told Stephen Davis that he used to borrow her hair curler to make curls that hung "just like that."
These little stories are interesting to mull over in a "who knows?" fashion. Come to think of it, I don't recall seeing a picture of Robert Plant with a tie besides at this photo shoot either (unless one counts a photo of him that is supposedly from his daughter Carmen's wedding).

I haven't read through the entire thread (and don't hate me for saying this) but there is something very homoerotic about those two together.
You can also feel the physical attraction between the two of them (especially from Jimmy to Robert). And Robert always looks like he's flirting with Jimmy on stage.
I certainly don't hate you for saying that. There's a response that said they had extremely good chemistry onstage, which is very true but even without any sexual involvement whatsoever, the interchange between them can still be incredibly sexy, even homoerotic. But then, sometimes that's the best thing - the homoerotic sensuality without any sexual involvement at all. As a chemistry, it works very well.

Well, if you really take this journey, I wish you all the best. It can be illuminating and enlightening, sometimes challenging, sometimes scary, and even, sometimes, wrong. But it will be fascinating the whole time. Oh, and the part about having a heavy dose of Scorpio in one's chart, like our friend James Patrick, can be especially exciting.
I don't know about this particular journey but the kissy face will speed me on mine! More epidural injections - rats. So this (and all the rest of the lovely pics, ladies!) will keep me happy as I go back for round 2...or 3...or whichever.

Hey, thanks Knebby. The ARMS pic is still a good one! I definitely recognize the suit and the guitar strap. Jimmy was coming back to performing after so much pain and loss of his own during ARMS so it's actually quite inspiring to me. And look at him now - he's healthy and happy today, thanks in big part to this step he took by being a part of ARMS.
And thanks to all of you for all your kind words great pictures.
I saved every one of the pics! I'm slowly and carefully getting myself back together...it will be a long process but thinking of how Jimmy Page came back to doing what he does best and what he loves inspires me to keep pushing too. One of these days....I am GOING to figure out how to actually put a picture in my posts instead of just a link! I'm determined, see...

Dear Fellow Fans and Pagettes:
Yesterday, I had to make the most difficult decision in my whole life. It was a very personal and painful one, and I think what I need right now is some really good pictures of Jimmy that will make my heart happy. I particularly love any pictures of him from the Firm period (but any period will do since Jimmy makes me so happy anyway). I enjoy all of you, and I have so much fun here that I want to keep up the habit of visiting as much as humanly possible. Thank you all in advance for all the Jimmy love...

Take a look at it and tell me if you think that's Jimmy in the background. Sure looks like him.

The guy standing with his hand over his mouth gives it away. That's a "this is truly awful" thing when someone runs their hand over their mouth like that with their other arm crossed. Even the people with their backs to the camera are tense, and everyone seems huddled together and closing in on Jimmy. Looks like a protective sort of closing in, of him and of themselves.
I know, it's quite a psychobabble analysis but it reminds me of when something awful has just happened, everyone knows it's awful but no one is completely sure yet exactly what happened in much detail. That's probably where all these people were at when this picture was taken.

There is no evidence whatsoever to support Led Zeppelin performed in Eugene, OR on 7/31/69 or any other date. I recall the book says Atlantic Record's Vice-President Jerry Wexler presented the band with gold album awards for their debut album on that date.
Unsure if the book associates that event with Eugene, OR (they'd performed in Salt
Lake City, Utah the night before) but it's more like it happened in Los Angeles.
I show the band arrived in Los Angeles on 7/31/69 on account of a tour anecdote
published in the Spring 1991 issue of 'Masters of Rock'. Specifically, Richard Cole relates
they were staying at the Continental Hyatt House on the Sunset Strip and Jimmy sent
him to Thee Experience to deliver a note to Pamela DesBarres, who was there watching Bo Diddley perform that night. She did not come over to see him at the hotel, so Jimmy called her in the morning to inquire why and invited her to the Zeppelin concert at the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara (8/1/69). She accepted, and after the concert they rode back to Los Angeles together in a limo and participated in post-concert revelry at Thee Experience.
Yes, that's right. I forgot about the Santa Barbara date, and Pamela Des Barres discusses it in I'm With the Band (in some detail). Since Eugene is definitely out of the way for even a short stop, it would be difficult to impossible to place the band there between SLC and LA since they would have had no time to go from SLC to Eugene to LA. I wonder where Dave Lewis got his information? Thanks!

Okay, I have one. According to The Concert File by Dave Lewis, Led Zeppelin were in Eugene, Oregon on July 31, 1969, where they may have played but did receive gold records for Led Zeppelin I. It seems ridiculous that they would just stop in Eugene, which is much smaller than Portland (Portland is the ground-zero for major acts who play in Oregon, usually), only to collect gold records and then keep going. It seems more likely that an award of gold records would coincide with their playing in Eugene. Since I'm in the area, perhaps I can do some digging this week for more info but in the meantime, the questions are these:
1. If Zeppelin played in Eugene, OR on that date, what venue did they play at (not all bands play the Hult Center when or if they come here)?
2. Where in Eugene, OR were they awarded the gold records for LZ I?
3. For any future dates played in Eugene, OR, what venues did they play at?

I just found this other night. He's interviewed with Les Paul on the Guitar Show in 1985.
Where did you find this? I'd love to see it. Today I am having a disgusting procedure done to my neck called an epidural block to reduce nerve pain from herniated discs (car accident) so I would just loooooooove to have this to come home to later (or watch beforehand!). Thanks in advance!

Some delicious Pagey...
This one has a special place in my dreams, that smile...that hair...
This is a very special pic...this is the very very first sighting I ever had of Pagey, found it in a magazine while my dad was getting his hair cut.
And the last one that you have here that was the first picture you ever saw of Jimmy - I remember the very first picture of Page I ever saw. I was sitting in my dad's recliner and I happened to catch a glimpse of his Guitar Player magazine (it was an Anniversary issue so this was about 1997). There, on the front cover among other players was this man who, even though by then he was so thin was still extraordinarily beautiful. I was curious as to who this player was so I opened the magazine and imagine my surprise when I learned it was the guitarist from Led Zeppelin! I had no idea he was so beautiful, and he looked like he was both concentrating and thoroughly enjoying himself playing his music. I have the picture at home to this day (though my dad is gone now) and I think I have that same picture on one of my computers. If I can find it, I'll post it. That first picture of someone who plays something you already know and love is just incredible.

It is worth every penny. I ordered it ten years ago from the publisher. What was funny was that Barnes & Noble claimed they couldn't send a copy to me but when I called the publisher, they had one! I bought it from them. It's a wonderful photo book and I considered it my birthday present for that year. If you can find a copy for a fair price, I would recommend buying it.
