  1. Ozzy made his first public appearance since his surgery when he came to San Diego Comic-Con for a few hours yesterday. I think he was signing posters but you could only get a place in the autograph line by a lottery and I was shut out.
If you weren’t in the autograph line security wouldn’t let people stand around and wait to see him, so I kept walking back and forth figuring I would at least get a glimpse when he arrived. He showed up in the back of a golf cart and I   was only a few feet away but the crowd swarmed in and I only got a couple of crappy pictures. I couldn’t see him get out of the cart in the signing area so I don’t know how well he was walking but he must have been feeling pretty good if he made the trip. He hadn’t been to Comic-Con before but I think he fit right in.

Last night was the Black Crowes at the Forum, and I have to admit that even though I was pissed that Rich and Chris let Steve Gorman, Marc Ford and others go and would not have gone to this show if a free ticket did not come my way, I still had a good time. While the drummer was no Steve Gorman, they still sounded pretty good. They weren't up to the peak of their 2005 jam-band phase, but it was loud and rocking and hearing "No Speak No Slave" and "Wiser Time" is always a treat. No Led Zeppelin cover, as they have been doing at earlier shows from what I hear, but they encored with a cover of The Rolling Stones "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll". The played slightly less than two hours.

The opening band was some band called Dirty Honey. We caught only the last song and I can't really say much about them. Apparently, KLOS 95.5 FM plays them a lot. But I don't listen to radio anymore.

Weird coincidence…the Black Crowes show was rescheduled from 2020 and last night happened to be on the same night as the Guns & Roses concert next door at Sofi Stadium (the new NFL stadium where the L.A. Rams play). Incredibly, traffic wasn't that bad coming and going to the Forum. We made it from Hollywood to the Forum in 30 minutes.

I think G&R were playing at the Banc of California Stadium not SoFi so that might be why the traffic wasn't horrible. Anyway, I saw the Black Crowes in San Diego on Wednesday and really enjoyed the show too. They played Hey Hey What Can I Do for an encore. It's great to go back to concerts again.

  3. That’s an interesting fun fact. Several years ago a newly discovered velvet spider that lives underground was named after Lou Reed. “loureedia”

There is also a spider named after David Bowie but I don’t think it was discovered on Mars.🙂

    Anyway, thanks for posting that!

  4. Like a couple of the other posters here, I would also like to see a Led Zeppelin show from early in their career.

If I'm choosing an artist I never got to see at all, then the top two are The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix. Even though The Beatles were drowned out by the audience noise, just the experience of seeing them in person would be tremendous. In other words, if the choices were: (1) never got to see The Beatles or (2) saw The Beatles but the sound sucked, I would still go with (2).

With Jimi Hendrix, seeing the original Experience would be my first choice but I would be ecstatic to see him any night with any of his bands.

I've seen a lot of concerts but there are so many more I wish I had seen.  If I had a TARDIS that was restricted to transporting me to concerts I would be happy. No paradoxes, no disrupting of the space-time continuum, just seeing lots of concerts.

  5. That whole weekend leading up to the show was so much fun. Starting when I stepped off the plane and the immigration agent asked how long I was staying. When I replied I was going home on Dec. 11 he asked in a dry tone if I was there for the Led Zeppelin concert. The gatherings the night before the concert, even the long wait to pick up ticket and wristband and then wait again in the merchandise line just built up the buzz and anticipation. Finally, standing in the crowd on the arena floor witnessing such a wonderful show.

Truly, a spectacular adventure. Still hard to believe it was ten years ago.

  6. An American girl from the south played the part of the princess in the tower. I was working in London as a model and was booked for the job by my agency, Models One. I don't really know why I was cast, but I suspect it was my hair - I did a lot of cosmetics and hair product ads back in the day. I wasn't an actress. Doing editorial pages for English Vogue, Queen and Honey meant more to me in terms of my career.

At the time the shoot was not a big deal to me - just another day of work. Who knew the age of the internet would extend the movie's shelf life from a couple of years to eternity? My on screen time only lasts a few minutes. It took longer for the hair people to get my straight hair curled with tongs than it did to do the take. I was told to 'look at the camera and don't smile.' Mostly I stood around and tried not to wrinkle the costume.

Post-modeling career, I was a journalist for 20 plus years and have been a fine art painter since 2001. Every now and again someone does a Google search, and emails me from my website, asking if I did the movie.

My kids get a kick out of it. Two of them work in the film business and often the director of photography is familiar with it.

The Song really does Remain the Same in the age of Google and Youtube. Glad you have fond memories of the film.
