  1. I read somewhere she just couldn't do the touring any more. I think it got to be too much for her. You do that kind of touring for 25+ years and I don't suppose you could be blamed for wanting to live the quiet life. As a band, they definately miss her, but I do think they've done well without her.
  2. I know! I'm so excited - I don't know how I'll be able to last 'til November. If they do a second tour of America, I would really recommend going. They're a fab band. Same line up as the Rumours era - Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood. Christine McVie left back in '97, but they still do some of her stuff. I'm not sure if they're going beyond Europe, but it would be great if they did.
  3. I got tickets to see Fleetwood Mac this morning!! I'm so excited. I can't wait 'til November. I saw them back in '03 and they were amazing. I promised myself that if they came back to the UK again I'd drag my boyfriend along. He's actually pretty excited about it too!! Yay!
  4. They were on the same bill at the Texas International Pop Festival of '69. I'm sure I read somewhere that Janis took Robert under her wing during that time.
  5. I've only just started to appreciate her. I like some of the stuff off Blue and For The Roses, but my favourite album has to be Court and Spark - I love Car on a Hill. There's wonderful footage of her performing California on the BBC in the early '70's, I'm amazed at how she can play that instrument (completely ignorant of what it is ) and sing so perfectly.
  6. You probably couldn't lump her with rock singers, but I love Joni Mitchell's voice. The purity in it is so beautiful, as is the bluesy quality she's gained in later years. Before her voice gained 'character' (that's one way of putting it), I liked Marianne Faithfull. I love her version of Sister Morphine. After reading her autobiography and what she went though, that song is all the more poignant.
  7. I saw Star Trek on Monday. It was alright. I didn't have a clue about it beforehand (still don't), so really wasn't holding much hope for it. I was surprised, however. If only because I didn't detest it like I so adamantly thought I would. I wouldn't see it again, though. Once was enough.
  8. General Certificate of Secondary Education. They're compulsory exams that we must do when we're between 15-16 years old and in our final year of secondary school (or high school) . We do an exam (sometimes more than one) per subject - roughly around 11/12. We usually start learning for them when we're 14-15. I'm happy because I finally handed in my last assignment for the term. Yay me!
  9. It's a very clever, consistant persona to carry - to never slip up - after all this time. The fact that he's tugging aggressively on his hood - as if a glimpse of flesh would reveal all - is revealing. It's not because he doesn't want us seeing his face for fear of ridicule, but, because once we do, he will become a person and not a character. And the character is all he's got.
  10. I liked that he believed that I thought he was hot - despite not even knowing what he looks like. Seriously, when I joke with my brother about how a 'wanted' poster should be, it's like that. It's laughable.
  11. Yay!!! You're back I hope you're feeling better - we've missed you around here.
  12. I think you can see whatever you want to see. If I look at particular pictures, I'm convinced that Jimmy is looking at me. But, of course he's not. The two men in question would probably disagree with you, though.
  13. I love Mistral Wind from D+B. Little Queen is a great album, though it took my longer to appreciate than Dreamboat Annie. Dreamboat had that funky vibe, whereas LQ really put to use that mandolin! There's definately some Battle of Evermore-esque channeling going on there. I love Go On Cry from LQ, too.
  14. Love Heart. My favourite song will always be Barracuda, though my favourite album just has to be Dreamboat Annie. When Roger was on board they were pretty much the 'female' Zeppelin - and they did some crackalackin' covers, too. The Rover is amazing, and since we'll never hear the 'real' version, hearing Heart do it - and doing it perfectly - is alright be me. The Rover Cal Jam II - Barracuda
  15. I think you meant Britain, here. On the news it was said that test results confirmed the UK's first person-to-person transmission of swine flu, in a friend of a couple from Scotland who were first in the country to be diagnosed with the virus. I read last night that they actually believe that they contracted the flu on a flight from Mexico.
  16. Hmm, I'll have to try that sometime. Thanks
  17. I can honestly say I've never heard of an English muffin pizza. What is it?
  18. 'In Spain, officials confirmed the first case of swine flu in a person who had not travelled to Mexico'. Am not liking that at all BBC
  19. Whilst I think it's something to be treated very seriously, I can't help but feel some of it is scare-mongering. According to the Beeb, all fatalities have been in Mexico, and all other cases worldworld have been said to be 'mild', with patients making a full recovery. Hell, even the two confirmed cases in the UK are said to be 'recovering well' at home - they're not even in hospital. I don't think it's something to turn a blind eye to, but then, I don't think it's going to be comparable to the 1918 'flu - I hope. BBC
  20. Cheeky! Seriously, though - what's with Joe Perry? Is he wearing, dare I ask, eyeliner?
