  1. Who's got this album?

    SANTANA.jpg

..............by the way, I'm looking for a song by Santana with a devilish bassline.....just can't remember the name of the song nor can I remember the album it's on....anyone??! :)

I might be able to help ,but I need some more info. Can you tell if it was early Santana[Greg Rollie singing] or was it more of a pop song? Was it played on the radio alot.Any possible time period?

  2. Saw them twice in 75 Baton rouge La and Huston Tx with Pete,Kieth,Roger,John .Then once more in Raliegh Nc minus Kieth all three good shows believe i have some boots of a couple of them.Great band though my favorite lp is not one most people would pick . I like the Who by numbers love the songs How many friends do i really have, However much i booze and Slip kid. I do like there classics as well though.

I like the Who By Numbers album, but I cant say I put it in the top 3

  3. I was wondering what all you good people here think of Carlos' latest duets and collaboration work with various artists??! :)

I think it worked well on Supernatural.Since then its been hit or miss.I think given the right song with the right artist he will be great. He has the ability to play into alot of different genres.

  4. I may be in the minority but I consider that album a classic, one I can listen to from start to finish without ever skipping a track.

In regards to their latter material, I like quite a bit of it as well, including A Bigger Bang. As for the live show, when I saw them last (couple of years ago) I thought they were all very into it and not just "going through the motions" as they're so often accused. I hope they keep performing and recording as long it makes them happy.

I too love the Some Girls album I played that one to death after it came out.Bigger Bang has enough solid tracks on it to get my thumbs up.

  5. So, is it more or is it less? Seriously, thanks for the reply. The older stuff rocks beyond belief,

    Cheers

more or less meaning I dont rule out everything they have done since Mick Taylor left.or since the 70's.Although I like the Mick Taylor and most of the 70's by a large margin, theres enough material fromm Steel Wheels on I enjoy.

  6. If you want Mick Taylor, don't buy anything after It's Only R&R. That being said, Black and Blue is outstanding....a funk-rock fusion with some great moments. Billy Preston is AMAZING on Melody and Hey Negrita ROCKS! Some Girls has it's moments and Tatoo You isn't bad either. After that, PFFFTTTT.

I more or less agree.I liked alot of the Bigger Bang cd.there were some good songs on most of what they have put out,but overall the older material is far superior.

  7. Okay, I take back most of my former comment.

I guess it took Sticky Fingers to make me realize, but the Stones, they fucking RULE.

This is like the perfect album. Methinks I'll have a little buying spree soon.

Need to hit up some Let It Bleed, Beggars Banquet, and perhaps some Goats Head Soup.

those would be great additions also get Yer ya Yas out(live),Its only Rock and Roll. Some Girls,Black and Blue.Really anything with Mick Taylor you wont be sorry.

  8. I'm in. It goes beyond my comprehension but i really like that record. It's like the Wiggles doing Stones material...haha

Anyway, my top 5 Stones records(and amongst the top 5 EVER recorded by anybody)

    1) Exile on Main Street

    2) Sticky Fingers

    3) Let it Bleed

    4) Beggars Banquet

    5) Get yer Ya ya's Out

Also like Goats, it's only r&r , Black and Blue(vastly underated imo) and Some Girls.

All of these records should be essential to any avid listener of great music.

    I second your post

  9. I should buy more Aerosmith. I've got their greatest hits which just covers their 70s era and also Permanent Vacation and Honkin' On Bobo. Has anyone else got Honkin' On Bobo? They do some good rocking blues covers, pretty good album.

I have the Honkin On Bobo I like it. they bring their energy and rockin attitude some of the standard blue songs.I guess I wish they would have picked some songs that were less well known.Too many songs that have been covered a million times.

  10. He has been around for so long and has had some somewhat questionable recordings over the years. But underated no way.The mans up there with the all time greats. He has his own sound.

And of his more recent cds besides Supernatural Milagro has some great tracks on it.I say he would be highly thought of in the elite guitar players circles.

  11. The old guard is slowly dying off. Only a lucky few it seems, are able to become understudies of some of the greats.

Richard Johnston is one of them, learning directly from the late great R.L Burnside and others from the Mississippi Hill Country region.

    I like it.

  12. Not like they do. There's just something different about those guys from way back when. I don't want to say it's more "authentic," but there is something there in my ears that I don't hear when I listen to other people try and do it.Its like having the recipe to your mothers favorite recipe but you cant quite duplicate it.

We may lose that when the last of the old guard is gone. Its hard to say if anyone will be able to duplicate that sound. Its like having your mothers recipe for making something and you cab

I know your a big SRV fan,but even he brought his own sound to the table.Which is good.

  13. There is not one single song by Tull that I don't like........New Day Yesterday is my fave song and Stand Up is my fave Tull album

    STANDUPJETHROTULL.jpg

Ya, Stand up has that certain Guitar sound.Very much harder than some of the others.
