  2. It sounds like he's singing, "always know where they're going."
  3. Thankfully I live in a country where we don't have to "shoot in self-defence" and yes, we have our share of criminals who, for the most part don't interfere with the public but there have been times when they do. It happened in 2009 at Sydney Airport when bikie gangs fought and shot at each other leaving one dead, leading to reprisals later on. Thankfully on-one else was injured. Potentially they can. There have even been incidents where sober people have driven cars into innocent pedestrians with fatal results. Stabbings occur regularly but aren't reported as much as gun related crime. Everyone is law abiding until they commit a crime.
  4. Here I was thinking the Second Amendment was about having the right to bear arms, not the right to kill people with them. Every "law abiding gun owner" could potentially become a criminal if or when they snap by going on a rampage killing innocent people, usually students. Two morons killing people in Louisville in two incidents within hours of the bank situation.
  5. Keating and under his leadership he raised home loan interest rates to 18% which caused a lot of grief to the Australian people plus, he is a coward and kow-towed to the Chinese to the point of becoming an oriental stooge, so he has about as much credibility as you do. In short, he is a FUCKWIT.
  6. FYI. We are doing just that in buying Tomahawk missiles among other defence options.
  7. You wish. The US needs Australia as much as Australia needs the US. Strategically we need each other. We'll own and crew them. Three will be purchased by early next decade from the US and two from the UK. Technology is what we're really paying for, eight will eventually be built in South Australia. From 2027, US and UK submarines will be rotating through Western Australia. HMAS Stirling is undergoing an upgrade to accommodate them. Where do you get your misinformation from? Unfortunately, China has forced the issue and we have to be able to defend our country if and when needs be, besides we should be happy it's creating employment for all three countries.
  8. For as long as I remember an arrangement is how the song is structured, performed and / or recorded and not necessarily how it was written. An example is All Along the Watchtower by Bob Dylan and covered by Jimi Hendrix as mentioned above. The original was an acoustic song and although the melody remained the same, the production and complexion of the song was completely different. Hendrix changed the rhythm guitar to electric and added lead guitar solos. That does not make him a co-writer, only an arranger. John Paul Jones was the main arranger for Led Zeppelin and before that was an in-demand arranger during his studio session years. If JPJ (and not Jimmy Page), composed the strings and keyboard parts in Kashmir, then it could be argued that he was a co-writer and entitled to a writing credit. Before my friend and lead guitarist passed away last year, every song I have written for the band (both music and lyrics), I always credited him for composing lead guitar parts or riffs as well as our bass player and drummer too unless I had specific ideas about what the bass notes would be and they were already written by me and the occasional suggested drumbeats and fills etc.
  9. I'm still trying to get my head around the fact the game consists of four fifteen-minute quarters yet can take up to four hours (what is the longest game on record?), to complete!? What is with the American pre-disposition to time outs? Definitely not an endurance sport that factors in fatigue with so much downtime. Comprising three teams within the team, offensive, defensive and "special" kickers does not surprise me that the Chiefs quarterback was able to play on with his "suspect" ankle injury. Also, players not in possession of the ball can be knocked arse over tit and / or slammed into the turf and sometimes trampled on and that's ok, but if a player pulls an opposition jersey they get penalised? After that diabolical decision in the last moments of the game and gamesmanship (clearly poor sportsmanship and winning by fair means or foul), compounded by Mahomes' time wasting was a bad look for the game and any credibility it had has been severely tarnished. Btw, I don't support either the Chiefs or the Eagles. Just a sports lover's observation from afar.
  10. Ernie Ball Slinky on my Gibson Gold Top LP and Not So Slinky on my Tokai Love Rock Sunburst (LP), mostly for playing in double dropped D and other tunings. Ernie Ball Earthwood Light on my Acoustic guitars.
  11. The truth of Australia Day.... This is information that all Australians need to know. Especially those that believe it has to do with how anybody was treated. People should learn the true facts before opening their mouth to spew falsehood. This information was authored by Peter Lee - it should be taught to all Australians. Below is the reason Australia Day is celebrated on 26th of January. Here are the Facts about Australia Day but don’t expect the media to educate you with these facts as it is not part of their agenda. 1. Australia Day does not celebrate the arrival of the First Fleet or the invasion of anything. 2. Captain Cook did not arrive in Australia on the 26th of January 1788. The landing of Captain Cook in Sydney (Botany Bay) happened on the 28th of April 1770 – not on the 26th of January. 3. The First Fleet arrived in Botany Bay on the 18th of January. The 26th was chosen as Australia Day for a very different and important reason. The 26th of January is the day Australians received their independence from British Rule. However, Captain Cook’s landing was included in Australian bi-centenary celebrations of 1988 when Sydneysiders decided Captain Cook’s landing should become the focus of the Australia Day commemoration. Sadly, the importance of this date for all Australians has begun to fade and now a generation later, it is all but lost. The media as usual is happy to twist the truth for the sake of controversy. Captain Cook didn’t land on the 26th of January, so changing the date of any celebration of Captain Cook’s landing would not have any impact on Australia Day, but maybe it would clear the way for the truth about Australia Day. Australians of today abhor what was done under British governance to the Aborigines, the Irish and many other cultures around the world. So, after the horrors of WW11, we decided to try and fix it. We became our own people. On 26th of January 1949, the Australian nationality came into existence when the Nationality and Citizenship Act 1948 was enacted. That was the day we were first called Australians and allowed to travel with passports as Australians and NOT British subjects. In 1949 therefore, we all became Australian citizens under the Nationality and Citizenship Act 1948. Before that special date, all people living in Australia, including Aborigines, were called "British Subjects” and forced to travel on British passports and fight in British wars. This is why we celebrate Australia Day on the 26th of January. This was the day Australians became free to make our own decisions about which wars we would fight and how our citizens would be treated. It was the day we were all declared Australians. Until this date, Aborigines were not protected by law. For the first time since Captain Cook’s landing this new Act gave Aboriginal Australians the full protection of Australian Law. This is why the 26th of January is the day new Australians receive their citizenship. It is a day which celebrates the implementation of the Nationality of Citizenship Act of 1948 – The Act which gave freedom and protection to the first Australians and gives all Australians, old and new, the right to live under the protection of Australian Law, united as one nation. What was achieved that day is something for which all Australians can be proud. Isn’t it time therefore that all Australians were taught the real reason we celebrate Australia Day on the 26th of January? In one way or another, we are ALL descendants of Australia ALL OF US. So, we should ALL be celebrating and giving thanks for the freedoms, the lifestyles and opportunities that we currently enjoy, thanks to the strengths and battles of our ancestors.
  12. Great song. Always part of our set list. Big talent lost, again. He had his share of health and personal problems over the years, a liver transplant and some time in gaol.
  13. I've been trying to process this for a while now. Whilst it's sad that Jeff Beck passed away, what's even sadder is the sobering thought that there are many other musicians in his age group that will be joining him soon. As Pink Floyd aptly told us it's only a matter of Time. The legacy left behind will be their music. The superfluous argument about who is the better whatever is not only petty but pointless as music is not a competition even if the media and those insipid award and talent shows would have us believe. If something moves you, great. If not, denigrating it by saying some genre or someone is shit goes against everything music stands for and that is, it is an artform and one's expression of it, beauty is in the eye (and in this case the ear), of the beholder. There are five divine gifts we have been given, Life, Love, Nature, Peace and Music. So, enjoy them all as we, unlike the above won't be around forever. Take care.
  14. Australia and Britain without any US involvement stopped Rommel's Panzer Corps at Tobruk in North Africa and the Japanese in Kokoda, New Guinea with minimal US assistance. Not exactly losing. Bailed out the whole world? Dream on. Assisted in winning the war yes and that was all, no more and no less. It is a national security matter if China were to establish military bases in, The Solomons, not only for Australia but a threat to all Pacific nations. China is interested in Papua / New Guinea too. Btw, The Solomons aren't that far away from US territories either.
  15. When did that happen? Our government questioned their motives but bullying? More bullshit reporting. Also, Australia and the UK were fighting Japan and Germany for that matter long before Pearl Harbour. According to American teaching (and history), the US fought the war by themselves. At least that's the perception. They did stop the war against Japan however, by dropping two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Now that's bullying.
  16. The last event was a cracker, 4 x 100m Men's Medley Relay finished in a tie for first place between Australia and USA and a new world record as well.
  17. World Short Course Swimming Championships from Melbourne.

One mistake by our goalie cost us a potential draw. I felt sorry for him, he went for the miracle play and had he succeeded would've been a genius but sadly he would've been better to dive on the ball. The positive thing is this side is relatively young and will be better for the experience. I was surprised the USA didn't do better than they did. Surprisingly we finished in front of them in standings, albeit only just and equal (3) goals scored. The final is up for grabs and any of the remaining teams can win it on the day. Good luck with your tips.

FIFA when led by Sepp Blatter were the most corrupt sporting organisation, ever. Qatar bought (bribed) their way to hosting this world cup. Karma's a bitch in that they were eliminated early in the competition.

Tunisia and Denmark, gone. Bring on Argentina. Messi who? We hold no fear of Argentina regardless of who is in their team. Australia defeated Argentina 4-1 in 1988. Graham Arnold played qualifiers against Argentina twice in 1994, featuring Diego Maradona. 1-1 draw and losing 1-0. No gave us a hope and didn't expect us to win any games let alone make the final 16. Underdogs!? Love it.
  21. I beg to differ. There are a few on here from both sides of the debate who don't post information but rather misinformation to provoke a reaction and start arguments and that is hateful. My biggest gripe is with the foreigners who think they know my country better than you or me when they have never experienced the place. I don't comment on what life is like in other countries because I don't know what it's like to live there. With the benefit of hindsight and how things have panned out. My conclusions are governments panicked, overreacted and erred on the side of caution based on some dubious health advice and hopefully have learned from the experience. The current recession is a result of stalled economies and incurred debt and businesses closing that sadly some have not recovered. We have a skills shortage and businesses particularly hospitality need staff. I recently returned to the workforce as a gardener. My household has never had Covid. We are experiencing another wave and a cruise ship had an outbreak, but so far, it's not spreading as fast as it has in the past. My daughter who lives elsewhere has. She contracted it before she had any vaccinations. She is going on a cruise to NZ this weekend so it will be interesting to see what happens. My partner and I are both fully vaccinated, my other daughter who lives with us is not. She doesn't believe in them. Her choice. Did we try to influence her to or ostracise her? No. Do we regret having them? No. Will we have any further doses? Time will tell.
