  1. Ah come on,Metallica's version, while good,is just in existence because they think Thin Lizzy wrote it,its actually a very old Irish folk song,as old as the hills,The Dublinners covered it,then Thin Lizzy, then Metallica, all good versions, but i [personally] prefer Lizzy's
  2. I put Eric ahead because John only did one album in the studio,Eric did a good few,if you look at the classic songs, most are Scott & Brian, then Scott & Gary, then Scott & Eric,Scott was on all of the great line-ups and was second only to Phil for me,Brian was the other one from the "classic" line-up,Gary was just incredible, and i only put John behind Eric because Eric got them off the ground,i'd say John was more talented.
  3. In terms of ability, this is the Lizzy hierarchy: 1.Gary Moore 2.Scott Gorham 3.Brian Robertson 4.John Sykes 5.Snowy White 6.Eric Bell but in terms of who was best in their work with Elizabeth alone: 1.Scott 2.Brian 3.Gary 4.Eric 5.John 6.Snowy
  4. A matter of opinion my friend,i'd go with Who's Next,WGFA is on it.
  5. The Who are incredible,Keith was second only to Bonzo,John Entwistle was one of the best bassists ever,R.I.P. But i love Roger & Pete,Roger is just cool and as for Pete,at a time when people where just trying to innovate the guitar,he simply brought it to the technical level of a pot smoking mental patient, relying on power chords and songwriting skills instead of over complicated guitar work,I Can See For Miles has a one note solo! And while he was a simple power chord basher, but damn could he write a rock opera, his keyboard skills are not in question though,or his songwriting, great man.
  6. Cold Sweat-Thin Lizzy I saw the Sykes version of Lizzy last year,this was the highlight,first encore,what a song!So heavy,what a riff!Excellent solo,Thin Lizzy are very underrated! R.I.P. Phil
  7. You are GOD for finding these!I'll take Donna D'Errico, dayum that's hot!
  8. Sorry, but what's the point of comparing them as artists?Even Eddie will tell you that tapping is merely an expansion of Page's Heartbreaker solo!Eddie would definately say Jimmy, the best concert of his life according to EVH was LZ in one of the gigs off HTWWW,that night the Heartbreaker solo inspired him to invent tapping,he merely took Pages template and added virtuosity in exchange for that feeling Page has,i did a school project on Eddie once, damn fine guitarist, but Page kicks his arse.
  9. Oh god yeah! They had the best guitar harmonies ever!2nd best is Page when he did multi-tracks.Lizzy amaze me,Scott Gorham,Brian Robertson,Eric Bell,Gary Moore,John Sykes,Snowy White, all their guitarists are underrated, very underrated,Phil of course was a musical, lyrical and poetic genius,as a lyricist he is second to none,as a vocalist his deep, smooth voice was perfect,as a bassist, few bassists could ever muster such a soulful bassline as the one in Dancing In The Moonlight,he is sorely missed, and he could play anything!I even like the synth-pop he did because it was so lyrically beautiful,Lizzy were, are, and always will be truly amazing
  10. Those are some sweet vids lads! I dunno if it's just me but i love the dual guitar solos at the end of Emerald on Live And Dangerous, the other great part is the best pick-up line ever,"Is there anybody here with a bit of Irish in them?Is there any of the girls who'd like a little more Irish in them?",Phil was great, brilliant musician all around, best artist this country has ever produced, they're almost as influential on me as zep. R.I.P. Phil.
  11. Amen, and R.I.P. Sykes played inn Whitesnake,Lizzy,Blue Murder,Tigers Of Pan Tang and a few others i think. He was amazing on the night though, and fighting rocks.
  12. And let me translate that to Zeplinites who don't understand Whoish,it's like our Travelling Riverside Blues.
  13. I added you as a friend,is that ok?

  14. Obviously not. I do now though,Crying-Aerosmith (I think?)
  15. Words of wisdom Juliet, words of wisdom.
  16. 1971 was the best year for music,all of the above,Pink Floyd's Meddle,Thin Lizzy's self-titled debut,MOR by Black Sabbath,Fireball from Purp,it's an endless list. P.S. I Love Baba O'Reily as well,incredible song.
  17. The Who ROCKS!!! [i prefer Zep by a nose] Best album is Who's Next, same year as Zep's best,IV.
  18. Coverdale was specifically hired by Deep Purple to [And i quote] "Match Robert Plant",they wanted someone to come out and BE Percy,Deep Purp always wanted to match the competition, and they randomly took a Plant-stalker and brought him off the streets and into their lives, they got lucky and got themselves a good singer, but i bet David spends his nights watching Robert in his sleep.
  19. A thread for fans and general discussion about "The Boss" Also,i'm seeing him live later this year in the RDS Dublin, does he still perform such a megalithic set as he did back in the good ol' days with the E Street Band,Y'know, the 4-hour set? Thoughts on "Magic" anybody? I love it.
  20. American's HATE Canadians,I'm Irish,my guitar teacher moved to Canada last year,he was great,if you know a Scott McCarthy i'd appreciate if you could get back to me! P.S. This is the 200th post!
  21. Thin Lizzy,INEC,Kerry 21/12/07 Next gig:Bruce Springsteen,RDS,Dublin 25/5/08 Gig after that:Eric Clapton,The Marquee,Cork 20/6/08
