  1. My first Allmans show was in 79 in Oakland, been hooked ever since. Check out the July 10 (Usually mis-labeled as the 26th), 1970 version of Mountain Jam with a Dark Star riff and a big Circle Be Unbroken Jam!
  2. RAIN! Finally! It's been almost a year since we got a decent soaking here in the SF Bay Area...
  3. RIP S. Clay Wilson His Checkered Demon comix were the best!
  4. A great band like the Mighty Zeppelin can create "music magic" in live performance, that spirit might not be as recognizable when reviewed on tape. Long epics can be really entertaining and inspiring as you are there interacting as an audience to those musicians. A lot of 60's and 70's bands tried for that "jazz ethic" of never-play-it-the-same-way-twice improvisation; Zeppelin, Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, Yes, King Crimson, and many others. There's a bit of "ya had to be there" to some of those long jams. I saw a '77 show and I enjoyed No Quarter, and the guitar and drum solos, but I don't want to listen to them on tape very often...,
  5. My youngest daughter got her first dose yesterday, no side effects. My older daughter will get her first dose Friday, my wife will get her second dose that day too. Waiting my turn!
  6. Bill Russell got more rings than fingers!
  7. I believe that there is a "God" or "gods" or a "spirit world" or whatever you feel comfortable calling it. I believe that it is accessible to humans. I believe that "faith" or "belief" has some kind of power.
  8. Ms. Free, emergency room nurse, as had the first shot, Pfizer, no side effects! The youngest of the "little Frees', who works in a nursing home is up next, her older sister, doing PUBLIC MENTAL HEALTH IN EAST OAKLAND, is currently NOT considered "essential"... I'll get mine when we get to teachers, maybe I'll actually get to meet my students this year!
  9. I saw 7/24/77, very weak performance was my opinion at the time. Not helped any by the band's very late arrival and the crowd's ugliness. Bad scene all around, now we know why...
  10. Well Chillumpuffer, you'll be glad to know I started 2021 with a big ol dab and a cup of coffee (that was 60% tequila) in my hot tub listening to Led Zeppelin! Happy New Year Everyone!
  11. My first live music concert when I was just 9 years old!
  12. Leslie West Play Mississippi Queen real loud today!

  14. Can't tell until the tech checks it out. For this amp, driver boards aren no longer produced, that's what blew in amp #1. Tough finding a tech willing to work on this older gear. Amp #1 has been in the shop for months as the tech tries to trace and repair the board. I'm starting to look at modern amps like the Vidar from Schiit, 100 watts into 8 ohms, doubles to 200 into 8 ohms, claims 400 watts into 8 ohms in mono. Only $700 each, I would need two...
  15. OW! My other Mc2200 amplifier just died! Vintage amps have skyrocketed in value in the past five years, amps I used to be able to pick up for $6-700 is now over $2k!
  16. Just finished the season with the driveway of hash! John Dunsworth was an exceptional actor!
