  1. U22 - U2 fanclub release from their 360 tour. Best godamn sound quality I've ever heard on a live album. Awesome.
  2. If a good SBD ever does surface this would make the mother of all matrixes.
  3. Attended U2's LA Forum show last night. Bono had this to say about Dennis Sheehan (and Led Zeppelin); http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/music/u2-honors-late-tour-manager-dennis-sheehan-concert-article-1.2238407 Bono's crack about 'not being able to fill Robert Plant's pants' got a big laugh from the Forum crowd. The article doesn't mention that Bono also said; 'I think in the beginning of our career we were trying to fill the void left by Led Zeppelin, but, of course, we couldn't do that.' All the best to you, Dennis Sheehan.
  4. Whole Lotta Love - Offenburg 24.3.73. Holy shit, I thought the TSRTS version was definitive until I heard this!
  5. Whole Lotta Love 7/7/80. Kind of industrial-boogie-space-rock.
  6. Heartbreaker - Florida 8-31-1971. Absolutely smokin' jamming after Jimmy's solo section with an incredible bass riff from Jonesy. Oh, if this had been multitracked! At least we have a listenable sbd though.
  7. Thanks Steve, will check this out. The wonders of Spotify!
  8. Re-visited the two Firm albums again recently after many years. Must say I was very surprised to find they are a lot better than I remember them. Nothing at all adventurous, but two sets of mostly good strong, well-executed and recorded songs that are still very listenable 30 years after the fact. Just enough 80s production values in there to make them a little nostalgic, but not so much that they sound like dated 80s rock. To my ears Franklin's frettless bass sounds great, and , of course, Jimmy never ceases to please and occasionaly astonish with his turns of phrase. Plenty of treasure in the two albums, radio shows, vidz and boots we have from The Firm.
  9. Page and Plant 30.3.98 Paris. The best thing I've downloaded for quite a while. An intense and inspired performance from beginning to end, and very nicely recorded in FM stereo. Super-pleased with this. Can recommend highly.
  10. Heartbreaker BBC sessions cd2. The jam at the end of this number is insanely tight. A joy to hear the band this well recorded.
