  1. Yay!!!!!!! Ooooooh sounds, verrry good to me! Dave now on DVD? Heaven... :)

Well.. almost heaven... not my favourite band anymore, haha. But still.. Dave now.. to watch whenever I want? Dayyyummm!

  2. To each their own. I was just never a fan of the synth heavy MTV friendly bands of that time (or of what would later become known as "hair metal"). I was much more a fan of artists like R.E.M., the Replacements, Guadalcanal Diary, Let's Active, the db's, Lone Justice, the Long Ryders, Los Lobos, Stevie Ray Vaughan, U2, etc. back then as well as reggae artists such as the Mighty Diamonds, Peter Tosh, the Itals, David Lindley and El Rayo-X, etc. Many of the New Wave and Hair Metal bands struck me as transparent and superficial. It was just never my thing.

R.E.M. are even more wonderful.... I've loved them since I could first hear! U2 and SRV are good too. I'm not generally a fan of New Wave, but I like some of the stuff. I mainly stick with the metal.. mainly hair, but I'm loving a lot of the thrash nowadays!

  3. Eddie...well yes, he can be exciting, but heartwrenching? Not that I've ever heard.

Ev, I agree with your whole post, but not this bit...

Secrets, Dance The Night Away (gorgeous guitar parts), Little Guitars, Why Can't This Be Love? (okay, it's not really Van Halen, but it's Eddie playing), Dreams, Right Now... Sammy Hagar stuff especially. But it's not VH without Roth.

  4. Uhm, metal or hard rock thread?

    Runaways (!!)

    Faith No More

    Page & Coverdale

Kyuss (even if they are not metal or hard)

Killing Joke (I agree with previous posts)

    Pantera

    Korn

    Steve Vai is intriguing

    David Lee Roth

    just to say a few

This thread is METAL. So, no Page and Coverdale. The Runaways were sorta punk-ish. Not metal. Lita Ford did go metal, but not when in The Runaways. And if 'Kyuss' or whatever, aren't metal, then don't post them

Anyway, I should update my list, becasue I have been listening to a lot more of it, so obviously:

MEGADETH (Best fucking metal band EVER)

    Pantera

    Metallica

    Anthrax

    Slayer

    Lacuna Coil

    H.I.M. (love metal)

    Sepultura

    Mercyful Fate

    King Diamond

  5. I like them both. But Jimmy is better, no doubt, because he did all different styles. Nevertheless, Eddie is good at what he does. Sorry, was good. Gone a bit 'belch' at the moment.

But I do prefer Van Halen. But that's only to do with one certain member.... ;)

  6. I'm not aware of anyone in Led Zeppelin having watched Eddie Van Halen perform in the '70s, either as Mammoth or Van Halen. From '74-'76 they were primarily a Pasadena & Southern CA-based band. I can't see why they would have been bothered to go in '76 as they were relatively unheard of prior to cutting demos for Gene Simmons and in '77

Zep spent most of their off time in LA at their old haunts on the Sunset Strip or over in Laurel Canyon.

No, they were very big at that point, in the So.Cal. area, HENCE the reason they were cutting demos for Gene $immons.

  7. Omg, love those bluegrass songs, and Jahfin, I lvoe taht vocal track. Bit strange hearing it without the music and backing vocals- I'm sitting here humming guitar riffs  It is lovely tohear his voice properly though  thanks!
