  1. I don't listen to funny/comedy music. If a song makes me laugh out loud, it's because it's utter garbage. Kind of like this:

They should be punched in the nuts for doing that.

Neither do I.. Sure, if I come across a funny tune, then I laugh of course. Like the "F**k you!"-song posted in "Rate the song above you"-thread.

BTW, that PF cover was kinda good I think. LOL

  2. Went to my favourite second hand vinyl store in Stockholm today, picked these excellent albums up:

    Gene Parsons - Kindling (1973)

Guest musicians like Clarence White, Ralph Stanley, Vassar Clements, Bill Payne & Andy Newmark. How cool is that?!

    m33167b4cv8.jpg

    Jimmy Buffett - A1A (1974)

Nice album and a great addition to my next to none existing collection of Jimmy Buffett.

    f30455l8c7u.jpg

New Riders Of The Purple Sage - Brujo (1974)

Skip Battin and Co's fifth album. Good stuff!

    nrps-brujo-lp.JPG

    Delaney & Bonnie - Home (1969)

Great set of blue-eyed soul songs with Leon Russell and Carl Radle among others.

    n62414vfutq.jpg

The Dillards - Tribute To The American Duck (1973)

Great bluegrass and rock fusion. With John Hartford among others.

  3. Fine purchase if may say so myself. I also have it on vinyl. Kind of a shame Truls didn't stay with the band as in the two songs he sings in they are my favorites from the album but Joakim does a great job singing them live.

It's indeed a fine album. I really like it. You have made a fine purchase yourself too, Heartworn Highway is a real gem! :)

New purchases, a couple of rare 45's:

    Carol Fran -

/ Crying in the chapel (Port 1964)

Just amazing. I love the beat and that dark moody brass. And let's not forget about the piano!! Top 45!

The "5" Royales - Dedicated to the one I love / Don't be ashamed (King 1958)

While I love the A-side, it was really the B-side that made me want to purchase this 45. This is a blend of raw blues, r'n'b and doowop!! I love it!

Too bad I couldn't find the B-side on youtube.

Bill Parker and Band/Blues Boy Palmer - Sweet potato cha cha (Bill Parker) / My life for your love (Blues Boy Palmer) (Hollywood 1959)

    Rare blues 45.

Big Jack Reynolds and His Blues Men - You won't treat me right /

    (Hi-Q 1963)

    Awesome r'n'b blues mover!!

The Dawnbreakers - Alligator / The Bounce (Trophy International 1967)

Super cool garage rocker 45 from a Louisville/Lexington, Kentucky band!! Alligator can be found on the Sixties Rebellion #14 compilation.

  4. I feel very fortunate to own this on vinyl but do wish it would be reissued on CD along with Tales From the Ozone and Hot Licks, Cold Steel and Trucker's Favorites. I was glad to see Wounded Bird finally released the Earl Scruggs Revue Live! From Austin City Limits on CD (along with several other Earl Scruggs Revue records from their tenure on Columbia Records). Another one that is long overdue for release on CD is Pure Prairie League's Live! Takin' the Stage.

Making music available is always great, especially now-a-days when most people doesn't even have a turntable, but on the other hand I kind of like the hunt for rare original vinyl records.. B)

They had a vinyl copy of Earl Scruggs Revue Live! From Austin City Limits too (where I got Country Casanova), I may have to reconsider buying that one too.. At the time I had to prioritise what I could afford. LOL

  5. Tuesday's Gone was playing on the PA when Zep came onstage the only time I saw them live. I think it was near the end of the song when Zep came on.

What a shame they couldn't make it onstage about 6 minutes earlier.

What a shame the show wasn't cancelled and the whole Pronounced album played in the PA instead.

  6. Got a rare 45 on eBay:

The Jesters IV - (Bye Bye Bye Bye) So Long / She Lied (I Know Why) (Fuller 1966)

A band from Tampa, Florida. The vocalist, Robin Sibucao was only 14 years when they recorded this single. It's a killer garage 45 and both sides has been comped on different compilations.

Here's She Lied, a real BOSS TUNE!!:

  7. A bunch of LP's:

Ramblin' Rose was covered successfully by The MC5!

    Fab garage rock mover!!

West Virginia Gentlemen - West Virginia Coal / Doing Fine (Alta 1972?)

    Awesome rare bluegrass single!

/ The Longer You Wait (Capitol 1966)

Got this for the B-side, it's rockin'!!

    Dusty Springfield -

/ That Old Sweet Roll (Atlantic 1969)

One hell of a cover of Tony Joe White's classic song. Dusty had such a great voice!

    Tammy Wynette -

    Great single by Tammy! Classic!

    Tommy Collins -

/ Woman You Have Been Told (Columbia 1968)

High On A Hilltop is the ultimate country song, it can't get any better than this! LOL

  9. A couple of LP's, for a change...

    Bobby Whitlock - s/t (1972)

    e774436f9ik.jpg

    From allmusic.com:

A former member of Delaney & Bonnie's backup band, as well as a member of Derek & the Dominoes, Bobby Whitlock's first solo record treads much of the same ground. With contributions from Delaney Bramlett, Whitlock turns in a solid effort filled with southern gospel influences ("A Day Without Jesus") and rootsy rockers. On the mournful ballad "Dreams of a Hobo" Whitlock shows that all his good material was not spent on the Derek & the Dominoes project. Though long out of print, this record is worth searching out for its encapsulation of early-'70s southern roots rock.

Elvin Bishop - Live, Raisin' Hell (1977)

    d290340ia89.jpg

    From allmusic.com:

Headliner Elvin Bishop's folksy, good-old-boy charm is as much a part of this upbeat live set as the music, thanks to generous doses of good-natured banter with fans. This live best-of collection, culled from five performances over almost a year, is highly entertaining. Mickey Thomas takes the singing pressure off the boss, but the thin sound undercuts the swagger of the horn section.

Françoise Hardy - Françoise (Maison Ou J'ai Grandi) (1966)

    c99529stl1q.jpg

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eXkowmXiUM

  10. Got to love Canned Heat, a bunch of excellent musicians. I love the fuzz tone Henry "Sunflower" Vestine used to have. Listen to Fried Hockey Boogie and when it's Henry's turn to solo (about 4:35), it's fuckin insane. About 6:30, when he pauses, the guitar just feedbacks! I love it!

  11. I got three great blues 45's:

Sonny Boy Williamson - One Way Out / Nine Below Zero (Checker 1962)

Sonny Boy's One Way Out is a reworked version of Elmore James' tune. The Allman Brothers made a cover of Sonny Boy's version in the early 70's.

Otis Blackwell - Daddy Rollin' Stone / You Love Me, Baby (Davis 1957)

Daddy Rollin' Stone was originally released in 1953 on Jay-Dee records, this is a '57 reissue. Daddy Rollin' Stone has been covered by many artists, among them The Who, Johnny Thunders and Jimmy Ricks. Otis was also the writer of All Shook Up, Don't Be Cruel, Fever and Great Balls Of Fire.

    Lightnin' Slim - I Just Don't Know / Somebody Knockin' (Excello 1961)

One of several great records by Lightnin' Slim.

    Lightnin' Slim

    (Checker 1964)

Top notch r'n'b! Soulful Dress is so COOOOL!

    Junior Wells -

    / Universal Rock (Cheif 1960)

Pure class!! With Earl Hooker on guitar!

    Magic Sam -

    /
    (Cobra 1958)

Really nice blues 45. The version of Easy Baby is older than the one in the link above.

Little Walter - I Got To Go / Roller Coaster (Checker 1955)

Awesome blues 45 by the harmonica master!!

    J.J. Jackson - But It's Alright /

    (Calla 1968)

Great r'n'b dancer, especially the B-side!!

Miss Lavell - Run To You /

    (Duke 1964)

    Another great r'n'b dancer!!

Wynona Carr - Should I Ever Love Again /

    (Specialty 1956)

    Cool jumb blues!

Goldie Coates & The Blenders - Love Is A Treasure /

    (Cortland 1962)

Great early r'n'b, can't get better than this!!

Huey Smith & His Clowns -

    / Just A Lonely Clown (ACE 1957)

New Orleans r'n'b. Huey played piano with Little Richard back in the 50's! Cool stuff!!

    magicsam21days.jpg

  13. A couple of 45's:

Little Walter & His Jukes - Mellow Down Easy / Last Night (Checker 1954)

Top notch early blues. One hell of a harmonica solo on this tune!

Smokey Smothers - I've Been Drinkin' Muddy Water / I Ain't Gonna Be No Monkey Man No More (Federal 1960)

Rockin' Chicago blues! Underrated artist, Smokey Smothers RULES! Freddie King on guitar!!

The Third Booth - I Need Love / Mysteries (Independence 1968)

    FUZZ garage monster track!

The Electric Prunes - I Had Too Much To Dream (Last Night) / Luvin' (Reprise 1966)

Really nice garage classic! Love the B-side too, trippy blues!!

    Tony And The Bandits -

    /
    (Coral 1965)

    Great 60's beat!

The Temptashuns - Sexy Ways / Strawberry Man (Lemco 1964)

    Great MOD r'n'b!!

  14. There's a new band called IMPERIAL STATE ELECTRIC which is formed by Nicke Andersson (of Hellacopter's fame) and some other great musicians out of Stockholm, Sweden. They are releasing a new 45 next week.

    Info from www.myspace.com/imperialstateelectric:

Ghost Highway Recordings out of Madrid will issue the very first I.S.E. release in April.

    2 songs ("That's Where It's At" & "Oh Babe") on a 7" vinyl single.

Check out www.myspace.com/ghosthighwayrecordings for more details.

Here's two songs that also can be found on their myspace. It sounds like Nicke picked up where he left with The Hellacopters, but with more powerpop and glam rock influences. Alice Cooper anyone?? :D Pretty good if you ask me!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5XAvtfE7HKA&

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XyignuKBXbI

I have already ordered my 45 and are now awiting news about the forthcoming album too!

This is from ISE blog from Feb 23rd:

    First Album's Done

The first album is now completed, called Imperial State Electric no less. 12 songs. Talking to a few labels at the moment and hopefully it will see the light of day sometime before the summer. Is it any good? It kicks my ass at least. I hope it'll kick yours too.

  15. A couple of fine 45's:

    The Jokers Wild -

    / I Just Can't Explain It (Metrobeat 1967)

    Nice psych 45. B-side sounds very Who-ish!

The Sneakers - Whatcha Gonna Do / I'm Goin' Back (Hot Line 1965-'66?)

Super cool frat rock from New Orleans! Check out them leads LOL!!

    Lightnin' Slim -

    / It's Mighty Crazy (Excello 1957)

One of my favourite swamp blues artists! The clip shows a 78 rpm of the same record I got.

The Kelly Brothers - Got The Feeling / You're The Most (Sims 1965)

The A-side is an ace northern soul tune!!
