  1. I could never have a favorite movie since there are so many.. here a five movies I think have had the most influence on me over the last 15 years or so:

    Forrest Gump

    I am Sam

    Shawshank Redemption

    The Departed

    Man On fire

this is just off the top of my head though. I am sure later on in the day I will think of a few more.

  2. I wasn't too sure I'd like it, but I gave Heaven and Hell a listen and I was surprised at how good it was. It was pretty raunchy. I have Mob Rules to listen to, but I wonder if it's as good? I hear it is.

You know what, I have been a die hard Black Sabbath fan (with Ozzy only) for as long as I can remember..and just last year I gave 'Heaven and Hell' a few listening and I liked it. it's not that I don't like Dio because I think he rocks! he was awsome with Rainbow. it's just a sentimental thing I guess.

also I love you sig picture thingy...I just seen 'The Dark Night' at the movies a few hours ago and loved it...Heath Ledger was amazing!

  3. I know that this sounds weird but do you think that there are similarities between ROBERT PLANT and JANIS JOPLIN as far as singing goes? In my opinion, both singers belt out their songs with such emotion and fury and they both sing the blues almost the same identical way. Their styles are very similar. Now I ask you, my fellow ZEPPELIN die hard fanatics, what do you think?

I've always thought that they were the same. just one bieng female and the other male.

  4. I've been down in the Lake Of The Ozarks in southern MO for the last 6 weeks and I can't believe how three dimensional the moon looked two weeks ago. even the guy next us who was a astrologer before he retired said that he has never seen the moon so vivid and up close with just the naked eye. talk about a moment. :o

  5. Jason's a great drummer. Lots of great drummers use double bass pedals. Like someone else said, no shame in that.

John Bonham didn't use one...because he was JOHN BONHAM.

    Most people aren't.

Bonzo could do things that most drummers can't. It's kinda unfair to get down on Jason. It's not "cheating". He's doing what most drummers do when they want to get that kinda sound.

I was reading that Jason would tighten his bass pedal real tight when he would practice, while trying to gain his Fathers right foot....(which is a good idea)

gotta tip your cap to him for making such a great effort for the cause.

  6. ^ I was meaning about asking if the link was OK.

Since I wasn't able to link to the real question of your post, I asked you about your subject question.

    :)

I've got to view my DVD and see about this.

sorry I left you hanging there :D I had to go back over to RO to see who made the thread. so I could credit him.

did you ever wonder what that tapping sound is?.....it sounds so cool.

  7. All my years listening/reading and posting on Zeppelin sites I have never seen this question asked. and this is a question that I wish someone could answer....

    here is the link :o

sorry link wont work so I will ask it here:Thanks to Slime over at RO for asking this.....

while listening to Denmark Radio 69 (it's on the DVD) anyway at the end of HMMT durring the huh-huh-isn't it nice sugar and spice part, you can hear a strange rhythmic tapping sound at (29.44 of the show)....who was doing that? i have benn watching this video for 17 years now and I still cant figure it out.

  8. OMG!!! That's what my friends and I used to joke when we were your age!!! :hysterical:

    Great minds, eh Nic? :D

That said, if you listen to Vancouver 1975, Robert says "Oh Georgina, c'mon, lick your pu**y yeah!". Doubt he's asking the son of god to commit that act!

Yeah, it varies. It began as Oh my Jesus. Of course it did. Georgina ain't gonna make his dying bed, much less give him a pair of wings. But yes, Robert changed it up. Why? Dunno.

Plant always changed up a blues number. I am by no way insulting you intelligencs (you are my favorite poster here) :D

the Vancouver shows answers all questions....

in the record he starts with oh my jesus and then it turns into oh georgina...

I am 37 and when we were younger we used to mess around with the records (with the backward messaging thing going).I almost dropped dead when I played that part backwards :o

  9. There's no particular significance to his wearing of the Jimmy Page Led Zeppelin t-shirt.

He wore the same shirt on several of the other dates during that last leg of the USA

tour. The Led Zeppelin Boxed Set had been released that Autumn and I believe that

shirt was also recently released to coincide with it. I believe the shirt was licensed

thru Winterland Productions. My point is it was not a bootleg or fan-made shirt.

I've never heard anything concerning a food fight in Birmingham, Alabama. Please share

your story with the board or email me privately thru my profile page. Thanks!

Are you talking about the Jimmy Page shirt that has Jimmy from a side view with a cigarette in his mouth?.....because I used to have that shirt. and when I seen him at Alpine Valley that Summer he wore it for the encores...I thought of wearing it that night as well, but wore my Manic Nirvana shirt instead....lol

I seen Plant later that winter when TBC opened for him. and the show was great and all, but that show he did at Alpine Valley was one of the best concerts I have ever attended! that show will remain in my mind forever :D

  10. Bill Ward claims to have been on good terms with Bonzo. I think the hard separation between LZ and "heavy metal" bands is a little artificial and frankly, snobbish. In reality a lot of these guys grew up in the same area and had the same musical influences.

    I agree :D

I am not positive on this one. but pretty darn sure, that John Bonham was the best man for Toni Iommi. sometime in the mid-70's....

  11. And there's a little Skip James in Robert Johnson. Not even he was above a little "borrowing".

And there is also a whole lotta Gary Johnson in Robert Johnson!....yes it is true, his older cousin was the original one who spoke of meeting the Devil at the crossroads, and selling him his soul...

and lets not forget the greatest of them all LeadBelly. without him there would be no Elvis/Dylan and even Zeppelin for that matter .LeadBelly was the real King!.... a true songster.

  12. Can you cite more specifically where you are pulling Zacron's comments from? Jimmy

lived with his parents at 34 Miles Road in Epsom and yes, he normally entertained his

friends in the living room...jamming there with Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck etc. so Zacron's comment about the Afghan Hound in the living room makes perfect sense.

I sure can Steve:....My Son was Christmas shoping and found a magazine from the Uk titled "Classic ROCK" it was a special collector's edittion DEC.2007 issue with the Zeppelin#3 cover on the front page with a 20+ page write up on Jimmy Page and Led-Zeppelin..... many folks gave stories like:Ian Anderson/Ritchie Blackmore/Marky Ramone/Joe Perry/Eddie Kramer/Tony Iommi/Roy Harper/Paul Stanley/Alice cooper/Danny Goldberge/and many others......

there is also a write up-interview with Zacron himself :D

  13. Hey Steve, I've got one for you:

WHEN, EXACTLY, DID JIMMY PAGE ATTEND ART SCHOOL?

The "common" story was that Jimmy enrolled at Sutton Art College (does this place exist anymore?) shortly after leaving Neil Christian & The Crusaders in 1962. However, there is handwritten evidence from Jimmy himself (link) that he did not enroll in school until September 1963:

"In September I am going to Art School which will probably come as a surprise to you. But the truth of the matter is that lately all I want to do is paint and make sculptures so I want to further my education in Art."

Now, I suppose that Jimmy could have meant that he was returning to art school.....but then why not write "In September I am going back to Art School"?

And while I'm at it, here's another question for the Zepophiles:

WHEN, EXACTLY, DID JIMMY PAGE PLAY WITH NEIL CHRISTIAN?

Again, the traditional lore tells us that Jimmy played with Neil Christian for about 18 months from 1960 to early 1962. However, fellow bandmember Jumbo Spicer is on the record as stating that Jimmy joined much earlier than that -- as early as March 1959. Add 18 months to that and you end up with September 1961. And that begs the question: what was Jimmy doing from September 1961 to September 1963?

    Well?

First off-Great thread! :) I have only made it about 7 pages in. but I had to comment on your question (Steve Jones: I have also read your observation below...thank you).....I had been trying to figure out this same mystery. this is what I have came up with:(by the way great question)

according to Zacron (the artist who made the Zeppelin #3 cover. and also long-time friend with Jimmy Page) claims that he/Zacron attended 'Kingston College of Art' at the dawn of the 60's, and also attended 'Studio35 in Surbiton' from 1957-1960. now he claims he met Jimmy while he was attending Kingston. and remained close friends with Jimmy all the way to his graduation into the Royal Academy, and some time after. (about 1964) that's when Page went back into music full time....He even speaks about Jimmy's Mother's Afghan Hound that used to sit on his lap in the front room of the Page family home....

Zacron said that Jimmy Page attended 'Epsom School Of Art'. and claimed that he first met Page while he/Zacron was attending Kingston, which was in the dawn of the 60's.... and also it is well known that Page left The Crusaders sometime in 62 because of Glandular Fever.

I also have never heard of or seen a 'Sutton Art College in Surrey' either? even though just about ever common Bio on Page all seem to claim it... (but they all seem to be the same Bio as well......lol)

as I am writing this, I can clearly see that this has not helped one bit at all. but this is how far I have got so far, and I hope to slove this mystery soon!

  14. I do as well....I like bootlegs over official releases anyday. I remember listening to the Royal Albert Hall fragment (from Lemon Song) so much that when I got the DVD I started to miss the old muddy radio brodcast. kinda crazy if you think about it. I think it has more to do with me listening to audiance recordings for 25+ years, they kind of grow on you. and then when you hear a fresh clean version, it's like your not hearing the same show.

I really like they way they are taking SB recordings and mixing them with great audiance (matrix). I will take some more of those instead.

plus+ the editing on these official releases is for the birds! :(
