  1. While I like GH, live with DP he could be out of control sometimes and I did not like that, but in the Studio he was fine with DP. You guys who think his voice sucks need to check out some of his recent live work, just outstanding. for example muscle and blood and you keep on moving from Chicago 8/27/16 on YT. Then get back to me and tell me his voice sucks.
  2. Very true about Glenn Hughes, I saw him last year and his voice is amazing, the notes he can sing is really something to see and hear.
  3. Earlier in this thread it was posted in 85 Plant was asked about putting out live Zep shows like Deep Purples live in London and Plant says they were lucky to play live anywhere, I am surprised no one here has said anything about that. That has to be one of the most stupid things I have ever heard Plant say. DP back in the day was one of the best ever live acts. Lost allot of respect for Plant with a comment like that.
  4. I saw Glenn in Chicago a few weeks ago, his voice is incredible, his power and range is really something, and his drummer Pontus Engborg is a monster on the drums and his banjo player Soren Andersen is excellent, Glenn says he will tour allot next year, see him if you can.
  5. Steve can you reply to my 1st question about Helsinki and Norway ? thanks
  6. Steve heres another. I have never ever heard Jimmy Page mention Ritchie Blackmores name. in print or interview, I have always thought that was strange since they both came up around the same time and both are very gifted players playing on many sessions back in the 60's. I asked Ross Halfin about this once and he said 'I don't know why but Jimmy is not a fan of Ritchie, I think it may have something to do with the past, but he has said Deep Purple has a great rhythm section'. Sounds like Jimmy does not like him, any clue as to why ?
  7. Steve, Talked to a person once in Helsinki about Led Zeppelins show there in 1970, he said the band went to Stockholm after the show because they felt the hotels there were not good enough. I found that statement rather odd and hard to believe, did they go on the Stockholm after the show ? Also any idea how come they never played in Norway ?
  8. Anything from the first tour of Denmark and Sweden in 68, Perth 72 and Mpls 75 and 77 and St Paul 77
  9. Deep Purple was huge in the early 70's during the 73-74 period I believe they were the worlds largest selling artist
  10. You thought Women from Tokyo was BOC ? I cannot see how but now you know, Yes you are entilted to think BS and LZ are better, I just dont, it would be borning if we all felt the same,by the way I love the sound of Jon Lords hamond, Perfect Strangers is a classic. Cheers mate
  11. Hush, Speed King, Strange Kind of Women, Lazy, Space Truckin, Women from Tokyo, Rat Bat Blue, Burn, Mistreated, Stormbringer, Perfect Strangers, Knocking at your back door to name a few, does not look like slim pickins, Blackmore in mid 69 wanted a more heavy sound and said he liked the singer in Zep, does that make either band better ? no, actually DP was formed before LZ, BS DP and LZ IMO are all great bands, but its funny how some cannot accept that DP is more popular in some parts of the world
  12. Wow, I dont even think I can comment on how crazy that comment is..
  13. Shows the russians have good taste.: )
  14. Uh no, Deep Purple does belong, Sabbath would be at best third tier. Someone once said BS was like a lumbering Dump truck ploding along while DP were like a Starship, By the way I love BS
  15. Blackmore does belong in the same group of those Banjo players you mentioned, no question about that.
  16. I saw Sabbath with Dio and Gillan a few times and all those shows were great and so were the records they made, never saw them with the others, but Hughes does have a great voice, but seemed a odd match for Tony, their record was ok.
  17. P.S. nothing like biting the hand that feeds you as 80 percent of Purples shows since Blackmore left are songs that Blackmore played on
  18. Gillan needs to get his facts right because if he really believes this he is brain dead, the playing on the 93 tour was the best since they got back together, the halls were not small and half empty at all and were near cap or sold out, he says Blackmore was walking off stage every night, that is a joke as he did not The band was on fire on this tour execpt for Gillans voice which was shot on many nights, he wont talk about that will he ? (listen to some of the shows for yourself) the big reason for this was staying up all night drinking and smoking, you would think him getting back in the band after being kicked out in 89 he would of taken better care of his voice. Blackmore grew tired of this and left
  19. I have heard Plat sing it and he did a good job, but not as well as Coverdale, after all it was his song
  20. one of the very best singers of all time, he is missed
  21. I see what you mean, but I think that applies to people in the US pretty much, Early Whitesnake were very popular in europe.
  22. Why do you say 'I'll admit' ? sounds like you are ashamed to say you like Coverdale, Maybe its because this is a Zep Site. Dont be, Coverdale had a great voice and dont be afraid to say it, I love Plant also but here some think the sun shines out of his bum.
  23. Obviously you are a Coverdale hater, as they say 'Can't see the forest for the trees', No the vast majority of people dont identify him as a Plant clone, Disco Ducks comments about Coverdales voice were spot on pretty much, yes it was a bit cheesy for him in the late 80's (he dyed his hair, so what) but he ROCKED, he Rocked with Deep Purple and from Early Whitesnake to this day, he has one of the best voices in music, Page knew that, and Coverdale has allot of fans all over the world, Since Zeppelin left us has there been a record that really rocks as hard as the C/P record by any of the remaning members ? No, Coverdale has been around almost as long as Plant and both were great, Deal with it.
  24. Glenn Hughs also, his voice is incredible to this day, saw Sammy about a year ago and I loved it, he still can bring it, Ronnie was as you say, he always sounded good, at times he is my favorite singer, met him 3 times, 1st time we chatted for about 25 mn, a very nice man and one of the greatest singers EVER.
