  1. I bet you it was Actually come to think of it, Liv Ullman has long monologues in just about every Bergman movie...
  2. You know I saw Ingmar Bergman's 'Persona' the other day, I'd never seen it before because I'm more of a Fellini/Antonioni man, myself, but I was incredibly shocked by Liv Ullman's conversation about sex in that movie! I mean, my god, this film was made in 1965, and here she is talking extremely explicitly about having sex, and orgasming and blow jobs and cocks, it was unbelievable for a 43 year old film... I mean in 1965, most American sitcoms still refused to show a married couple sleeping in the same bed together! And yet here's Liv Ullman talking a guy blowing his load...It was more graphic and suggestive than an Andy Warhol film...
  3. Actually the guy who wrote and starred in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, I saw him on David Letterman, and he said that the movie studio tested some advertising for the movie, and found that most people were put off going to see the film if he was in the ad... So that's why none of the posters for the movie featured him, well not close up, anyway... And yet, we're supposed to believe in the movie that this same guy is the one getting all these babes??
  4. At first, my favourite Doors song was Alabama Song, then I realised they didn't write it, that it was a Kurt Weil/Bertolt Brecht song from 'Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny' (which happens to be a bloody strange show too). But still The Doors did a great arrangement of it.
  5. That's what amazed me about that film... He wasn't particularly good looking and he wasn't particularly charismatic personality-wise, yet he kept getting the babes... I think he was being overly optimistic about himself, becausehe also wrote the film.
  6. well if we remember back to Antonioni's film BlowUp, it was Beck who got fed up and smashed his guitar while Jimmy just kept on playing...
  7. It was all right if you like formulaic hollywood action films in the Bruce Willis-style
  8. Mae West: She may have been a sexpot, but she owned sex! No man was going to seduce her, she was gonna drag you to bed! She was never at anybody's mercy in her films, she was as tough as they came, she wrote all her films, said what she wanted to and didn't care what anybody's reaction was and all those great quotes from her: "Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" "It's better to be looked over, than overlooked" "Give a man a free hand... and he'll run it all over you" "When a girl goes wrong, men go right... after her" "A man in the house... is worth two in the street" "A hard man is good to find" "I'm no model lady. A model's just an imitation of the real thing." "Good girls go to heaven. Bad girls go everywhere else." "I used to be Snow White, but I drifted."
  9. Really? I thought it was rather mainstream, myself, although I enjoyed it, but I guess I rarely watch Hollywood movies. I think the last Hollywood movie I saw was some Will Smith rubbish, I Am Me or some shit, anyway it was a remake of Charleton Heston's Omega Man. Did anyone see Jack Black's 'Be Kind Rewind?' That was rather amusing. 'Le scaphandre et le papillon' was really good too if anyone saw that film
  10. eh, the women always do though
  11. Vladivostok...Khabarovsk...Kamchatka
  12. Can you ask Robert if he liked my No Quarter video clip? http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=WpjLM5bfWpY I serioulsy think he'd like it, and if he doesn't, Jimmy would have to... Here are some reviews: "This video is among the most obscure, strange, beautiful and haunting, I've ever seen." "an uncanny masterpiece" Now I've gotten through that lovely bit of self-promotion, I'd like to add that I'm working on another top-secret Led Zep video clip that should be equally arresting...providing I can find enough of the particular footage that I need.
  13. It wasn't that bad... I got a couple of laughs out of it, although yeah, it's not fantastic.
  14. Well JPJ has certainly had the last laugh... He's 62 years old and he still looks fantastic: I mean Robert's face has almost collapsed... And each day Jimmy ends up looking more and more like an old Chinese guy...
  15. Led Zeppelin could've very easily been an instrumental band...
  16. Kevin Blechdom! She is just incredible: http://www.myspace.com/kevinblechdom Her track Invisible Rock is just fantastic
  17. Well you can laugh at me because I want them to be real!! It just makes everything more exciting if Bigfoot and the Lochness Monster are real
  18. I used to love the White Stripes, I bought all their albums on vinyl, then one year I saw them play live, and they sucked. Although in their defense they were playing at a large outdoor festival.
  19. I remember a guy once did a show about Movie critics and why they always vote Citizen Kane as the best movie of all time. He said it's because talking about Citizen Kane allows movie critics to show off how much they know about film making. But nothing is ever really liked when it first comes out. Time and perspective is what usually establishes something's repuation. Dark Side Of The Moon wasn't particularly well-received by the critics on its initial release. Sgt Pepper too was reviewed as "A good album, but probably not worth the 5 months it took to record it". But the trouble is, because those albums are still around, still selling, the criticisms become irrelevant.
  20. I saw "Le scaphandre et le papillon" (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly) at the movies the other night, it was a quite a good movie. I didn't realise Max von Sydow was in it, I never knew he spoke French, I kept thinking "wow, this old guy is just brilliant" and then afterwards I realised it was him. He really is a great actor.
  21. JPJ used a keyboard instrument called a Mellotron to play those flute/recorder parts. It's the same instrument you hear playing the flute parts on Strawberry Fields Forever by The Beatles. The Mellotron is not a synthasizer however. Inside, it has a bank of 8 second tape recordings of various intruments for every key of the keyboard.
  22. Hey, it's early evening where I am :P
