  1. Love those tales from the Starship! "Do not look John Bonham in the eye!" Haha. You know, I saw Detective at the Starwood. Never thought to look around the VIP area, I'm sure I missed seeing JPJ and others.
  2. There was this cool little bohemian record store, right next to an X-rated theater. I noticed the bins of all-white LPs and, there they were, BBC Sessions, Going to California, Mudslide, Pb, tons of stuff, along with other bands. I got BBC Sessions. Soon after I got 3 Days After and V 1/2 (Seattle). I quickly learned not to ask any questions about them. Just buy and go. I loved 'em, played 'em to death. Was hooked forever after that. This probably '74 or so. And speaking of the King Biscuit Flower Hour, I remember listening to a Yes concert one time, and all of a sudden, to fill time at the end, Led Zeppelin comes on doing this fantastic live version of "I Can't Quit You". I went flying downstairs to find a cassette and record it, it was a BBC one, man we were all excited about that!
  3. Yes! Totally Elvis's shoes. I want me some! Size thirteen. My birthday's coming up....
  4. Dancing Days is in something other than standard tuning also, is it not?
  5. As Apu once said, "Celebrate the birth of your country by blowing up a small chunk of it!"
  6. You were there in Anaheim! Maybe you can confirm the rumor that Bonzo used two bass drums in Anaheim....
  7. Maybe Plant wasn't really sick. Maybe he just didn't want to miss Elvis!
  8. The topic is VINYL bootlegs. I have a few of those, (I even have the "Collectors guide to vinyl boots of Zep" by Hot Wacks, anyone else have that?) I have Listen to this Eddie, Persistence, Badgeholders, Seattle '73, Three Days After, Bonzo's Birthday Party, Live 1975 (Montreal), Earls Court, Dallas '73, BBC Sessions, a couple others...
  9. In "rock" I agree, Janis is Queen. My favorite female singer currently is actually Aimee Mann. Maybe not LOUD rock, but great voice, great songwriter. And whoever mentioned Bonnie Raitt - yes - TONS of soul
  10. "Full Moon" by Dougal Butler is a great rock and roll book, there's some hilarious shit in there. And Keith was a very unique drummer, he supplied real excitement to the music, (unlike Kenny Jones). Yes his story is sad, but also highly entertaining. Don't be so hard on ol' Moonie, there wasn't any decent treatment available for bipolar conditions back then. (see Jaco Pastorious for a similar story)
  11. Zeppelin had the loudest DRUMS I'd ever heard up to that point, but overall it wasn't painful. Now, for painful I have to pick Van Halen, '94 at the Pacific Ampitheater. Fucking RIDICULOUS how loud it was, I'll never hear the same again
  12. VIdeo screens at Bath? In 1970? In daylight? What? Photos anyone? The first video screen I ever saw at a concert was around '75-'76.
  13. Don't tell me, Robert then autographed his X-Rays for all the nurses, right?
  14. John Bonham. His finest moment. Possibly the single greatest rock & roll drum track ever recorded. Maybe you didn't notice
  15. "Someone to be reckoned with." Well then! You damn kids had better REALLY get off my lawn now, you hear?
  16. Well, let's hope they took more than one show to the studio while they were at it
  17. Why in the world was the Shepperton studios shoot even necessary? How could it happen, with all the pre-planning, that there wasn't enough film, or not enough cameras rolling, or whatever, at the MSG show? Seems like a collossal screw-up to me...
  18. I just have the pictures, but not the entire Cream magazine. If anyone does, there might be photo credits...
  19. Ah-looks like Jones behind Bonzo's kit, so, yeah, must be a soundcheck
  20. The other pic is Robert striking a big pose, which leads me to believe it's not a soundcheck, unless he "practiced" his moves! I'll try again
  21. It's not Tampa (wrong clothes for Jimmy) and I've seen photos of Pitt. & Atlanta which were both at night I believe....
