  1. Very cool, thanks for posting! I'd heard Saccharine but never heard Southern Comfort. I really like Jimmy's acoustic sound from those sessions...
  2. He never got it back, which is one reason Gibson made a replica for him, which he used on For Your Life at the reunion in 2007...
  3. I'd ask him how it felt to sit in the audience watching the band gig with Jason in 2007. Must have been a real mind trip for him!
  4. That was actually pretty nice compared to what I was expecting! He has always had high praise for Jimmy, which is why it surprises me a bit when he knocks Zeppelin in interviews...
  5. I love Ronnie but clearly the alcohol has enhanced his recollections of the past! "Paul McCartney begged me to be his songwriting partner but he settled on John Lennon when I rejected him!..."
  6. So all political conservatives automatically gravitate toward what, Barry Manilow and Anne Murray? Give me a break, man! Politically conservative does not mean musically conservative.
  7. Thanks! Here goes... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJn984u4hos
  8. I hear no connection but some will actually try to claim that Page and Zeppelin "stole" Communication Breakdown from this: Nervous Breakdown Edited to add: Wasn't able to post the actual video as Steve has done. Need to learn that trick!
  9. I wasn't envisioning Jimmy asking for future use in '67. I figured he may have given Roy a heads up after they wrote it, just a little courtesy. Oh well, still interesting to consider that Jimmy and Roy had a friendship, that was news to me. I also think it's ridiculous when that "Zeppelin are Rip Off Artists" guy who appears on Howard Stern every now and then claims Communication Breakdown was a direct lift of Eddie Cochran's Nervous Breakdown. Some people hear what they want to hear.
  10. "You Shook Me" wasn't Beck's title or song, it was Willie Dixon's. Plus Beck was Jimmy's buddy and peer, Orbison was one of Jimmy's heroes. Different dynamic, no?
  11. I don't find it that outrageous. I don't think he's inferring that Jimmy asked in order to cover himself legally. If Jimmy really liked and respected Roy, and I'm sure he did, I don't find it hard to believe that he'd offer him a "heads up" on this kind of thing...
  12. For what it's worth, I know Jimmy wore that "Live Aid" outfit onstage for a guest appearance with Robert Plant at NJ in the Meadowlands Arena in East Rutherford not too long after Live Aid. He joined him for a couple of encores...
  13. I used to think Jimmy was drooling because he was drunk or whatever, but I don't believe that because he is clean now by all accounts and it still happens. Here's a theory; could it be related to all the dental work he's had done? Take a look at pictures of Jimmy from the early 80's when he was still on heroin, his mouth is a mess. He's clearly had extensive work done on his teeth, I wonder if that may have something to do with it. Anyway, drooling or not Nugent is not in the same musical galaxy as Page...
  14. I witnessed Dancing Days in New Jersey on the first leg of their American tour. The one I'd like to hear/see from Japan is The Rain Song. That is my favorite song on the Unledded DVD and for the life of me I couldn't understand why they wouldn't want to do it with an orchestra. I was very jealous when I heard they'd done it in Japan!
  15. I read a review, I forget where, commenting on how Plant's voice sounded fantastic on Fate of Nations and No Quarter and sounded weak and dry on WIC. I don't agree completely but there's something to it. I really thought his vocals on Upon a Golden Horse in particular just didn't sound strong. Having said that, I did like it overall but of course if you were expecting Zeppelin you were going to be disappointed. And as John Paul Jones said in one interview when he was asked about WIC, ""Where's Jimmy?" Jimmy sounds good but it doesn't really sound like the album he would have made in my opinion.
  16. Very cool, thanks! I don't have the issue handy but Keith was describing this in the first person, so Keith actually said that he "nicked" it. If I can find the issue I'll post the exact quote...
  17. I did forget about that, good point. I also remember reading in Guitar World's tribute issue to Page (released in the 80's) that way back in the day Keith was struggling to come up with a solo for "Heart of Stone", so he asked Jimmy for some ideas. Jimmy played a solo and Keith nicked it note for note. So although it's Keith playing the solo, Jimmy "composed" it if you will. I was curious about "Scarlet" because from what I can gather it's a song they wrote together, as opposed to Jimmy playing lead on a Stones track, etc...
  18. Steve, do you take requests? I've read about Jimmy and Keith Richards collaborating on a track called "Scarlet" in the mid to late 70's. Has a bootleg ever surfaced of it? Or did it ever resurface in another form on any Stones albums? I've always wanted to hear what a Keith/Jimmy collaboration would sound like. Thanks!
  19. No I don't have a link for it, I just heard it randomly on Sirius last week...
  20. Nice! But also a shame becasue I like 33 (Disorder), it's pretty cool. By the way, I did hear a live Train Kept a Rollin' last week, sounded like the 1980 tour of Europe...
