Damn, these really are great pics!
-
Maybe if I was there with you, he'd have asked.
Exactly! So we actually have reason to be jealous of you.
-
Well, you'll notice they weren't in a rush to ask us onstage with them.
-
If we'd got any closer, we'd have been on the stage with them. ("I'm with the band!" )

Seeing as you ladies like pics of Robert I thought I would repost a collection of pics I took of Strange Sensation in Bristol June 07. Hope you like them. There are some of my dear friends here on the forum who were standing right in front of me when i took them, thats Aquamarine, Nine lives and Plantonic. Remember this ladies?
Er, yes, I have a vague recollection of that night, ledded1.
Fantastic night, and fantastic pics.
But I miss the Strange Sensation majorly too--I do hope they'll be back someday.

Just wanted to make the point, Chicago, that my comment was just about the outfit (which did nevertheless seem indicative of the zeitgeist), not the quality of the show. I envy you hugely too.
And keep meaning to say, this is a great picture. As you say, moffo, simple but so effective.
Love it, simple but so effective!!!
(This was posted by 3hrsoflunacy back on the first page and I meant to reply as a quote, just so no-one things i'm taking the glory for this pic!!!) LOL

I remember the tv interview where one of the members of Skynyrd made the claim that they blew Zep off the stage. I'm pretty sure he said it was at a festival in England - Donnington, perhaps?
Or maybe it's just a firmly held but faulty memory by the Skynyrd member, like my otherwise-sane insurance man who is convinced he saw Zeppelin in concert in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania despite the fact they never, ever played anywhere near Harrisburg
Or like my memory for decades that I'd heard Zeppelin play STH at Bath, till I finally realized I couldn't possibly have, as they hadn't written it at that point.
I'm not otherwise-sane, though.

Waking up.
But on the brighter side--seeing our official Keith Richards defender on the board has made me very HAPPY today.
(Happy, geddit, 59? Welcome back! And cheer up.)

I don't know, it was in Santa Cruz but BP didn't state if that was rehearsal. But he certainly loved the concert with the praise "For me, one of the most sublime concerts of last year...". Thinking about how many concerts BP Fallon must have seen...
And he has some Zeppelin O2 pics and Robert's pics from the concert in NYC for Arthur Lee.
Yes, I saw those--the pics of him and Robert at the Arthur Lee gig are so cute, too.
You're right, if ever a man was in a position to judge good music!
Here he is, around the other side of Robert!
-
Is that a rehearsal pic, glicine? I'm just thinking that Alison doesn't seem dressed in her usual style.

Classic Rock Magazine has quote from Gary Roissiton from their Zepp special issue recently
"I saw Zeppelin live twice in Jacksonville Fl at the Jacksonville Mem Coliseum.
We had a band then. i think we were called Lynyrnd Skynrd but we could have still going by the name The One Percent. I rememer Jethro Tull opened for them and they were great. but eveyone kept in thier seats. When we saw Zeppelin they blew our minds because all of the girls ran up to the stage. Until then everybody stayed in their seats just to listen to bands. Zeppelin were just unbeleivable. They came out and played so good . Page broke out the violin bow and started going...[imitates sounds}. We thought that was so cool"
Hard not to think his memory isn't playing tricks on him--the part about everyone previously staying in their seats to listen to bands, I mean. The Beatles, the Stones, many lesser bands--the place would be chaos, long before Zeppelin.

You look lovely there, lzfan.
I also love aen27's coat!

The stormtrooper may have been rock and roll to some people, but to me it smacks of empty sensationalism - and hence, of things spiralling out of control. It didn't signify anything at all - it was just "Hey, is this outrageous or what?"
I've always struggled to find the right way to express what I feel about that outfit--this is pretty much it, thanks Otto!
-
That story certainly puts some of our other problems in perspective. B-M.
-
Ogawd, that's hilarious. I wonder what Robert replied. Probably something very droll.
Actually, I'd bet he told her a good place to go for breakfast, if he knew one!
-
I hadn't, either. You're a real treasure trove, Blocoboy--wish we could be more helpful in your Slade search. Eyes will be kept peeled, however! (Disgusting expression, come to think . . .)
-
Wow, great stuff, Blocoboy! I'm just catching up after a couple of weeks away, and was blown away by that pic of John Bonham--the earliest one I'd seen of him (apart from childhood pics, of course).
I get the impression the Midlands music scene is still very tight knit, btw.

That's a great pic--I kinda wish he'd dressed like that for the show, but I suppose they all "dressed up" for the occasion.
I'm amazed by this one...She's such a great photographer.
-
He is indeed one of the few people in the universe with that gift, ldw.
This is a fascinating pic, spooky.
-
Imagine how special he'd have looked if he'd been wearing that shirt with those plaid pants.
-
.
And I fully agree with you, Aqua. You always beat me to it
Sorry.

I don't believe that underline part of your statement, longdistancewinner is true. Quite the opposite. This is an escape for me too. It also has been bothering me through the day, the last 3 days! That shouldn't happen. I am very releived Lucia has begun a fresh thread and perhaps we can start again. The tension is very unpleasant. This 'fight' has not made the site fun anymore, which is what I said this morning.
Please let's end this?!
I think ending this is a great idea. But I do want to point out that if it has not been fun for you for the last three days, imagine what it has been like for the rest of us for the past three months or more. One of the most popular threads had been hijacked by a half-dozen people who insisted all posters share their personal approach to the topic, oblivious to the fact that hundreds of people belong to this board and were, if they wanted to look at pics of Jimmy, forced to read that half-dozen people's comments. Every effort has been made to accommodate this tiny group, by leaving you this thread (and now you have a new one of your very own, also), while the rest of the members begin over in another thread. So forgive me if I don't see any reason whatsoever for complaint on the part of this group, whose "fun" had been at the expense of everybody else's. (This was pretty immature, which would have been more forgivable if all the members of the group actually were young teenagers.)
But now that's all over! Everybody has their own thread, we can all enjoy the pics in our own way. Happy ever after, OK?

Well done, lad! You deserve one of these.
So do the band, they were cracking!
