  1. I know everybody will feel differently about these things, but I did disagree on a couple of things in that I thought the guitarist was the weakest link (pretty good, but so obviously no Page), while the singer had a fabulous voice that was perfect for the songs, but which he didn't IMO use to slavishly copy Plant. In fact, one of the things I liked most about the whole band was that they weren't trying to replicate Zep, prancing around in dragon suits and such. So for me it was a plus that the singer didn't look like Plant--why pretend to be someone you're not? The drummer did look a bit like Bonzo, though.
  2. I agree with the Rover that the Dallas show was very well-performed (excellent singer, especially) but could have been louder--I was right at the front, and by rights I should still be deaf! The highlight for me was Moby Dick, and Thank You with the accompanying film clips was wonderful. It's interesting how it's when playing his dad's music that Jason seems to be coming into his own as a drummer. Apologies if I've repeated what others have said earlier--I deliberately didn't read this thread before going to the show.
  3. How long has the intermission been, usually? (Sorry if this has already been mentioned.)
  4. Mine arrived this morning yesterday and I've already read as much as I've had time for. I'm really impressed with the guy's honesty, as much as anything else.
  5. The Sniderman identity has been known for a long time, but fascinating to find out what happened to him. Wish my book would hurry up and arrive!
  6. Here's where tastes differ, I guess, as I hated it!
  7. There was a great band in the 60s/early 70s called Tir Na nOg, nothing to do with them I suppose?
  8. Then you're missing some good music. But you're probably right not to be concerned about by something he said in 1986.
  9. That's the part I'm interested in, so I'll be happy.
  10. Happy birthday John. Hopefully you're having a great birthday jam with Bonzo.
  11. I'm not sure that front row will be the best way to experience this sort of show--rather like being front row in a movie theatre.
  12. You don't look too enthusiastic in the first pic, Reggie, but you more than make up for it in the second!
  13. True enough, though with the advent of Mick Taylor he gradually slid more into the rhythm guitarist slot.
  14. Nobody's ever claimed Richards was a great soloist, including him. He IS the Human Riff, however. And many current rock guitarists owe him a debt they can only imagine, on the same order as his own acknowledged debt to Chuck Berry.
  15. Amazing album, for sure. That, Mighty Rearranger, and Dreamland are my favorites (despite Dreamland being mostly covers--I just love it).
  16. It's not good news if they're moving dates around . .
  17. A scarab is an amulet shaped like, or with a picture of, a beetle. Big in ancient Egypt in particular, symbol of transformation and the cycle of life.
  18. Well, if it has, I didn't see it--thanks, Sam!
  19. Just heard Immigrant Song on one of the changeovers at the US Open tennis match tonight.
  20. Thanks, Rover. Btw I see it's now listed on his site again.
  21. The Dallas gig has now disappeared from the jblze site.
