  1. I think all aspects of women's health are worth discussing, though--there are all sorts of issues that affect women at all stages of our lives. :P Problems involving menstruation, for instance, or pregnancy. There's no end to the things that can cause havoc to the female body, it seems!

And if certain products are going to be problematic, good to know about them early. :)

  2. I was told today that there is a plan for me and my dad to move to Orkney which is where I would love to live, it's so peacful and beautiful, I love it. The idea of it is that my dad would have a place where he could retaire and to do archeology (sp?) which is what he truely loves doing. We're going to live in Orkney during the summer becuase the winters are terrible and come back to Oxford in the winter.

It's also a great chance for me becuase now I don't have the pressure to look after the house and dad as much.

With school, I'll live in Oxford of course. But we are going to have to sell the house which we in now, which will be hard becuase we both love the house. This is gonna happen in about 18 months time. The only thing that is in our way is that it might be hard to get the internet or if we do have it, it would be very very slow.

    :yay::hurrah: :hurrah: I'm so happy

Orkney! Never been there but I used to love listening to Donovan's album Gift from a Flower to a Garden, which conjures up the feeling of the area, and of course I've seen pictures. It's one of the most exotic places I can imagine to live, so beautiful and so remote. :)

  3. hi aquamarine

yes i have been told by a few different people that excess soy can be a problem. a woman who owns a health food shop ( don't know if she has any qualifications or anything ), told me that soy products have something called phytoeostogens (sp ? ) and too much eostrogen can be a factor with breast cancer.

however, i just got the book " the wisdom of menopause " bydr christiane northrup. i first saw her on the oprah show. she says as long as you eat whole soy products, and not just supplements, they are highly beneficial to the body, and not just for menopause. she advocates consuming whole soy everyday.

thanks for dropping in, aquamarine. i am sorry for your family history too. my mother only had one sister, and she is alve and well at 75, never had a sick day in her life. and my grandmother lived till 82. my mother was a non - smoker, breast fed her kids, played sport .....etc etc. she was just one of those unlucky ones. :(

anyone else have an opinion on this ?

Seems a crap-shoot who gets affected by these things sometimes, doesn't it? :( In my family's case, it's all the women on my father's side of the family.

From what you and ninelives say, it sounds as if soy in moderation is safe, so that's good to know!

  4. Hmm, I didn't know soy products carried a risk of breast cancer, that's worrisome. (I have a big family history of it, too, and do the yearly mammogram, etc.) Especially as I drink soy milk every day.

Hey, was that Bong-Man I just saw?

  5. THE HUB - last night at Whitmore Reans Cons Club, Wolverhampton.

A Mark Stanway promotion, featuring 2 sets of blues classics.

    Mark Stanway (keyboard)

    Mo Birch (vocals/percussion)

    Robbie Blunt (Guitar)

    Marc Michalski (vocals/bass)

    Gwyn Ashton (vocals/guitar)

    Kev Hickman (drums)

Not at all bad for 8 quid. :piano::guitar_mood::standup_bass::drumz:

Only time I've heard Mo Birch was the 2007 Honeydrippers show, I was really impressed with her voice.

  6. Um....I'm sorry.......

    ......just speaking the truth. B)

    . . . aww, I'm just quoting a book. ;) That close a resemblance is always gonna catch my attention . . .

Mandy, that's a great pic of you, you look like you're having a really good time!

  7. I wish Celia ;)

I do have quite a few more SS shows but I wont bore people with them and of course some decent Honeydrippers ones :)

Bore away, mate--no new shows at the moment, so it's a very pleasant way to pass the time, looking at previous shows. ;)
