  1. Mona_Jimmy_by_GoldenPear.jpg

Following up on the advice I gave in the other thread - you need to do everything you can to pursue art as a full-time career. You have excellent skills already and tremendous potential. If it means moving away from your home town or doing whatever you have to do, you should (when ready and able).

  2. Actually, not that it matters that much as the point is the same, but the interview was with Robert, from Blender, 2002.

    Q. How did your last telephone call with Jimmy Page go?

    A. What an excellent question. It was December 21, 2001. I said, "Hey, Jim, how's it going?" He said, "Oh, Christ, I can't talk now; everybody's in the car waiting to go." That was it. Word for word. I've seen him since, but that was the last telephone call I had with him.

[sorry to be such an anorak! I imagine things have changed since 2001, anyway.]

Brilliant. I was working off memory so thanks for finding the real deal.

  3. Because a minority of us are not as astute on the computer as you,Round Robin.I apologize to you for my lack of skill. I envy your ability. Please accept my apology.

You can actually edit posts if you make a mistake/typo whatever.

In the bottom right corner of each post you will see 2 buttons "Reply" and "Quote". When you look at your own posts there will also be and "Edit" button.

  4. Steve, this probably doesn't belong on your thread, but if anyone knows,it's gotta be you.

Do Page and Plant have direct lines of communication with each other?

I mean, could Jimmy dial Robert up and say,"Robert, what's with this 'watch your sorghum drip, can't keep away'stuff?Has Nashville muddled your belfry?"

Or Robert.."Jimmy, we're a little east of Tupelo, eating a fine meal of pork chops and fried okra. They have velvet Elvis tapestries here. How many do you need?"

Well who can guess as to the dynamic of their relationship? I am sure that with some business decisions, things are handled by management, which is not uncommon. One of the most important functions of an agent/manager is to insulate their client from potentially stressful or embarrassing situations. They now have different representation which apparently made the O2 negotiations more complex.

    However, I do remember in a recent (last 10 years) interview, Jimmy was asked if he and Robert still talk, and Jimmy's response was something like;

"The other day I was getting the family ready to go out for the day and the phone rang. It was Robert on for a chat and I said 'Christ, Robert I've got everybody in the car, can't talk now'." He went on to say they talk fairly regularly.

I have noticed recently that there is a phenomenon where people think that having an 'entourage' is a desirable thing. Having 'people' to do things for you had become the goal, and not a product of success. But it's a drag, it's not a healthy way to be.

RP and JP are good mates, they both did their best work with each other, and have known each other for decades through all sorts of trials and good times. I very much doubt they would insulate themselves from each other in that way.

  5. I read a lovely story not long ago where some Zep fans went on a tour and found John and Pat's house. She saw them on the grounds and they told her what fans they were of John. She was gracious, kind and open. She served them tea and chatted for a while before they went on their merry way.

Yeah I heard this one too.

I also read a really nice story about someone who went to visit John's grave (after O2) and encountered Jason. There is certainly a warm and positive energy which surrounded/surrounds John Bonham, and his family.

  6. Agreed, I never said one word to insinuate otherwise.

Sorry if I've insulted your sensibilities but I don't think I was being rude at all. The mother of his first child. You act like she's Mary mother of Jesus or something. She's a wonderful person I'm sure.....I simply stated I didn't think she was that physically attractive. I didn't call her 'ugly' or 'rude' or 'mean' or anything else negative.

Also in my opinion it's rude and boorish when people come on here and start calling others rude when it's unprovoked. And let's just print the newstory that went along with that picture and we'll see how 'wonderful' the mother of Jimmy's second child was....

I think it's rude to make comments about someone's appearance, with no knowledge of their personality. Jimmy obviously saw something in her, and I think it's completely out of line to slur someone based upon their appearence, in a place where they can't argue back.

We can play word games about the difference between 'not being that physically attractive' and ugly - but the point is, I don't think those sorts of comments have a place here, or anywhere.

How do you think Jimmy, Charlotte or Scarlet would feel if they read what you said?

My point is I 'personally' don't fine either one of them that attractive and suddenly I'm a real villian. My my my, I thought I was over protective of our dear Jimmy! Ahahahahah!!

You're being way too touchy about that I never made you out to be a villain I just said I think it's rude.

  7. At the risk of sounding catty, I never did think Charlotte was 'all that', nor Patricia for that matter. Jimmy's taste in brunnettes was MUCH better than his taste in blondes but....that's just my opinion.

As for Jimmy being 'solitary'.....some part of me thinks 'NOT'! B)

I think it's his business who he chooses to spend his time with and I think very rude to make comments like that about the mother of his eldest child.

  8. Finally, I find the quote Tolinski published to be peculiar, as it suggests Jimmy referred to Charlotte as his "ex-wife". So far as I know, they were never legally married nor did they ever wear wedding rings to suggest they were. He normally referred to her as "my lady". Perhaps Jimmy used the phrase "ex-wife" as an expedient way to summarize their complicated, long-term relationship.

Jimmy doesn't wear a wedding ring (publicly, at least) now either. Hmmm

  9. I have no actual knowledge to share, but would hazard a guess this was filmed on a soundstage, from the bright quality of the light coming in the windows, and the stage smoke all around.

Not necessarily, but most likely. I would have to find time to go back and look at the sequence to decide if it was a built set or an existing building.

It could have been shot in a shed somewhere, rather than a soundstage, as all the sound in that sequence was created in post-production anyway.

  10. I pulled out the book that came with the box set and it says:

Cover Images by Mission Control, Bristol England

    Design Coordination: Richard Hutchison

Imaging and Photography: Chris Wroe and Jenny Moore

    Booklet Design: Larry Freemantle

    Box Set Production: Yves Beauvais.

I know there is a group who are professional crop circle artists and do commercial work in the UK. So I guess it's looking like this crop circle has been created specifically for this album cover?

  11. Oh, I see. No, the crop circles were not created specifically for the album art. They were a pre-existing phenomena which were "appropriated" for use on the album cover,

just as the Giants Causeway in Ireland was "appropriated" for use on the HOTH album

    cover.

Do you know who took the photograph, and if it was taken specifically for the Led Zeppelin cover?

  12. Are you referring to the album cover art as such or the crop circles themselves? There

are so many crop circle theories in circulation it's hard to keep up with them all. Most are addressed and available for independent research elsewhere on the net.

I was assuming that the circles on the cover were created by human artists specifically for the album art?

Lets not get into the debate re: crop circles human vs alien.

  13. Do you think they would have returned eventually. I know concerts were planned for America in '80, so how would they have gotten around that?

As the sentences were suspended they would probably have been put on a good behaviour bond. I have never heard that any of them were refused entry back into the US at any time.

Did Grant, Cole or Bindon ever go back?

  14. That has GOT to be one of THE most sexist songs ever written in the HIStory of rock n roll. If Jimmy wrote it about someone he didn't like, God help them. He couldn't have been more insulting with this number.

(ps-that's sexIST, not sexy- as Nigel Tufnel would say, "a little twist"...)

If these girls have no respect for themselves why should you expect the band to have respect for them? You realise that these people were hangers on looking for benefits from being near rock stars - hardly a pure and worthy existence.

Have a listen to the Stones 'Under My Thumb' and get back to me about this being the most sexist song.

  15. Why do photographers feel the need to ruin a pic with big ugly watermarks when a suble watermark would suffice?

I know I'm late with this but - the reason is to better protect their copyright. These pictures were not released by the photographer onto the internet for our enjoyment - they are here so that potential buyers can see a sample without being able to use them. If they put a small subtle watermark in the corner, magazine/book publishers might just crop the watermark out. It can and does happen, and professional photographers trying to make a living are always having their photographs stolen.
