  1. I would say that's a fair assessment Scott. I believe Robert's time in Obs-Tweedle was not as long as previously thought. If we can pinpoint his recording time with Alexis in London, that would make things easier. I suspect it would have been around March/April.
  2. For Robert Plant and the Band of Joy, it didn't. For Obs-Tweedle, prior to Robert joining, apparently it did happen. Meg
  3. In my previous discussion with Bill Bonham, he has stated that Obs-Tweedle played at the Star Club in Hamburg. At that point Robert had not yet joined the band. They picked up a guitarist Scotty for the trip though. When the band returned from Europe, they performed at Dudley Zoo, where Robert was in the audience at asked to join the band. This all happened in March/April 1968. What we need is an advert showing the date of the Dudley gig, which would pinpoint when Robert joined the band. Meg
  4. Mickey Cox and Keith Law were in The Paint, which then evolved into Jardine. They recorded one album in 1969. Keith Law prior to The Paint, was previously in a Walsall group called Love and Understanding. I don't think Keith Belmore was the same person.
  5. Or at least correct the name to Obs-Tweedle. Meg
  6. Robert would more than likely be short on detail about this part of his past. Always wanted to know who those female backing voices were on his early recordings. Kiki Dee, Madeline Bell, and Lesley Duncan. Interesting thing is there is connection later with Robert Plant and Donovan. The song 'Goo Goo Barabajagal' is often speculated Robert sang on this (more than likely he didn't). Madeline Bell and Lesley Duncan however both did sing on this recording. Meg
  7. Given that Page had only just met Robert on the 20th, and asked him to come down, this date (28th) may have been a previous booking prior, since the time span is a week or less. Intriguing though. Was Robert considering leaving Obs-Tweedle to restart up BOJ prior to Jimmy meeting him? I hope the ad sheds more light.
  8. Wait and see what the whole advert says. It's quite possible. Meg
  9. That's interesting. 28th July. Plant has gone from Obs-Tweedle to Band of Joy in a space of a few days. Look forward to seeing the ad as always bloco. Meg
  10. February 1967 - would coincide with the time Robert Plant was in, then out, of the first unstable line-up of Band of Joy. Then weeks later set up a second version with Plant wearing full face paint and hippy regalia. Meg
  11. It's quite possible JB was still with them in September. Dates between 1964-1966 for John are not well documented. It's known between 65-66 he played in many bands, sometimes making only one-off appearances. Mick Bonham sadly passed away before he could finish off that last book he was working on, so much information is missing.
  12. I'm sure that was different band. From Shropshire. Peter Lee on guitar, Jeff Price on Bass, etc.
  13. From what I understand Scott, Terry Beal took on the name Bobby Child, because the band van and merchandise had the name Bobby Child on it, so he simply adopted the name Bobby Child. The original Bobby Child was called Barry Goodchild.
  14. You probably know more than me. Bill was very vague on details. He didn't keep diaries or receipts. It would be good if we could get into contact with other band members. They maybe able to shed more light.
  15. I've just checked my email archive and Bill did indeed state that they did record some songs but he has no idea what happened to them. Meg
  16. Is there anything else in the paper which states which studio? Meg
  17. What's attached at the bottom of the garland of flowers around his neck? Is it an imitation wolves head? Wolverhampton FC logo? Note the wolves heads on the cover of his Now and Zen album Meg
  18. Bloco, I too spoke with Bill sometime ago (an earlier thread over this can be found elsewhere). When discussing the origins of the name he definitely posted back with "Obs-tweedle". Interesting comment about Plant. He told me that the band existed prior to Plant joining and that he was at first a replacement for their singer who fell sick. The name originated from his father who was the band's manager, after the band couldn't decide what they wanted to call themselves. Meg
  19. Thanks Nech. I solved this over a day ago on another thread. Meg
  20. Start an online petition campaign and letter writing campaign. The only people who win in lawsuits are lawyers. Meg
  21. "Pride and Joy" by Coverdale-Page peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. "Whole Lotta Love" peaked at No. 1 in Australia and No. 2 in quite a few countries. Meg
