  1. The Cross of the Teutonic Knights was a "Modish" thing to wear during the 1960s. If you search around on the internet there are photos of Jeff Beck and Pete Townshend also wearing them. I mentioned in another earlier thread singer Chris Farlowe used to own a militaria memorabilia store in the 1960s which sold many crosses, boots and caps to rock musicians in London.

    Meg

    The German Cross

Earlier in this thread I discussed Jimmy's recollection of having been spat upon in Scotland

for wearing the German Cross whilst touring with The Yardbirds in July 1966. A photograph

of Jimmy wearing the German Cross has been found:

  2. John Bonham was very much alive in 1970...

It never happened. For one thing, John Bonham was deceased long before Skid Row

was formed. For another, they'd have had to use borrowed instruments to perform,

which they were never too keen on doing. Finally, Led Zeppelin's on and offstage

antics in the City of Angeles are extensively documented. There is no chance they

would have played anywhere within that city without some evidence to support it.

  3. Thanks for that. Much appreciated

    Meg

When the Led Zeppelin Channel first launched on Sirius (which is what I have) it was on channel 12 and XM was channel 33. A couple weeks into it, it changed to 33 for both. This is because the merge between Sirius and XM was completed and they are now one entity.
  4. Unfortunately those speculative threads have been around for sometime. Maybe Sam could create a "Rumours" thread and simply move over all those "Who is going to be the new singer?" posts to there. Would possibly reduce the clutter on the main forums.

    Meg

That sums it up nicely. Now it would be good if we could get away from these speculative threads, until we hear something first hand.
  5. After the accident in Rhodes in August, Plant and those injured were flown to the UK for treatment but due to his taxation status there, they were subsequently airlifted to the tax-haven of Jersey. His stay on the English mainland would have been very brief. After Malibu they rehearsed at Hollywood's SIR studio, before of course recording Presence in Munich, and subsequently returning to Jersey in December. On December 10, there was that impromptu set with pianist Norman Hale at Beehan's West in St. Hellier.

    Additional notes:

Robert plant flew to Jersey with his leg in plaster and stayed at the home of solicitor Dick Christian. Richard Cole had organised air transportation which included using a forklift truck to ensure Plant did not put pressure on his leg on departure and arrival. Plant, and Benji LeFevre were picked up at the airport by the staff of Dick Christian and driven to his mansion. Page and Bonham stayed at the Atlantic Hotel on the northside of the island. By September 13th, the music press reports Led Zeppelin had arrived in California. Briefly Page and Bonham attended the Melody Maker Awards at the Carlton Hotel on the 24th of September, hosted by Billy Connolly. Page flew from Los Angeles to be at the event with Scarlet Page and John Bonham, Plant stayed in the US. New Musical Express reports on October 11, that Led Zeppelin were currently staying in Malibu.

    Meg

Ok I've got a question here, I know Jimmy and Robert went to Malibu after the car accident in 75, when did they leave England and how long did they stay there?

    Edited: Additional notes added.

  6. You might wish to see my post here: http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?s=...st&p=258418

I don't recommend the Davis book or Cole's book but I believe every source has it's place, and you are right Alice the Davis tome should be approached with caution in regard to the minute of detail nonetheless.

    Meg

This is also written in 'When Giants Walked the Earth'.

Jimmy seemed to only have had a sexual interest in Lori.

You had better not trust 'Hammer Of the Gods'.

    Jimmy called it a crap.

  7. Hmmmm okies. I always assumed that Jimmy and Lori had broken up in 1973, and Jimmy had started seeing Bebe Buell. Bebe Buell was Jimmy`s designated escort to the Swan Song soiree in 1974.

    Meg

    Meg,

Thanks for the additional info on the date of the picture.

According to Lori herself, in Pamela's book, Let's Spend the Night Together, she was still seeing Page well after 1973. She was with him at The Drake Hotel at the time of the robbery and was sent away before the police did any investigations of the band members room. This was in 1975.

  8. Yes, They did have a party in 1973. Laurel Canyon. That was the party in which George Harrison was thrown into the swimming pool, along with almost everyone else, except Peter Grant.

    Meg

Thanks Meg. I guess I'm just thinking that Bonzo's birthday party in LA was in 73 but again, I'm really going off the top of my head with this. It's not necessary to confirm for me specifically.

    Cheers

  9. According to the sources I've read, Maddox was introduced to Jimmy via B P Fallon in 1972, after Jimmy was shown a photo of her. Apparently she never ventured out with the band outside of Los Angeles, and their relationship ended in 1973.

On May 31st, 1972 Jimmy Page was at Rodney's Rainbow Grill and Bar celebrating John Bonham's 24th birthday. Also attended Sable Starr, Lori Maddox, Robert Plant, John Bonham, John Paul Jones, Pamela Des Barres, Rodney Bingenheimer, Morgana Welch, Peter Grant and other friends. Whether this photo was actually taken there I am yet to confirm.

I note in Davis' Hammer of the Gods, Jimmy is wearing the same shirt in the photo and it's dated 1972.

    Meg

:) I'm jogging my memory here as well . It's Jimmy's hair that got me thinking...lol
  10. Thanks Roxie. I take it the exaggeration was on the pills comment? Her biography doesn't say anything nastier than that other than what Alice has stated.

This was from her second book: "God he

drives me nuts, I can't f*ck him enough"

Interestingly Pamela also dated Michael Winner, director of Death Wish II and had previously met Bobbie Beausoliel in the 1960s, before marrying Michael Des Barres in 1977.

    Meg

The "bimbo" comment was referred to by Pamela in her 2nd book "Take Another Little Piece Of My Heart". She was doing a radio interview at the time in Miami promoting "I'm With The Band" and Jimmy was in town with The Firm at the same time.

The DJ asked her "So what do you think about Jimmy Page calling you a bimbo?" The DJ played her an interview he had done with Jimmy a few hours earlier. The DJ asked him what he thought of her book and his reply was, "Oh I've met alot of bimbos out there. You know how girls like to exaggerate".

  11. I haven't found where the quote came from but I do know that in her autobiography she refers to Jimmy "stumbling around" for his bag of pills, and what Alice said. Certainly Page may have taken offence at that, whether it is true or not.

I'm sorry to derail the mysteries thread and, while I don't have time to quote all of the posts about Pamela that were made here right now (I'm in the middle of cooking dinner), I just wanted to say that Pamela is a charming woman. She is also self-assured and charismatic. One of my friends met her and spent some time with her when Pamela was in Austin last month. I asked my friend about her and she told me that Pamela is still charming and self-assured and charismatic but my friend also described her as "wonderful" and "intelligent" and "caring" and "very spiritual". I don't know whether or when Jimmy might have called her a "bimbo" but no one I know who has ever spent time with Pamela and gotten to know her has described her as that.
  12. Thanks Alice. Do you have any sources where these quotes came from, especially from Jimmy? It should put a perspective on why and when these words were said. I'm with the Band from memory, was published in 1987. Cheers :)

    Meg

    This is my personal opinion.

The reason why Jimmy was angry to Pamela was possibly that she had referred to Page's beloved daughter in her first book.

Pamela wrote the hearsay about Scarlet.

There might not be father who is not angry for inaccurate hearsay to be written about his child.

  13. Interesting. In Buell's autobiography she actually says it wasn't Jimmy that called her a "coke whore", but intimated it was Plant and Grant. It's on page 82 of Rebel Heart.

"I was very attracted to Jimmy Page. He was my type — very dashing, very English, very Renaissance. He had that otherwordly, other- time vibe. If you fantasized about being a

princess and having a prince come and sweep you off your feet and take you on horseback to his castle, Jimmy Page was Sir Lancelot. What girl woudn't enjoy that fantasy, even if it was only for a week? We went out to dinner at expensive restaurants every night. We went shopping. Jimmy liked to go to metaphysical/astrology bookshops. We spent a lot of time in bed. We stayed up all night, hanging out, doing drugs, talking with Robert, Peter, Richard, and their entourages. Sometimes, I would do a little cocaine; other times, I would say no. I think Jimmy found that refreshing. I overheard him telling Robert and Peter, "She's not a coke whore."

    I have a question.

I know Jimmy called Miss Pamela 'a bimbo' ,but who was 'coke whore' that Jimmy called ?

  14. You're the one who keeps bringing this issue up. You have a past history of acting aggressive to other posters on this website, and you have just proved that point.... Here I will end it by saying your claim that Jimmy Page was in New Orleans on the day Plant found out has proven not to be true.

    Welcome to my ignore list.

Are you kidding? "Desist"? Who do you think you are?

    ----

Invariably though, she [Knebby] acts like she's is too important to be bothered. Also invariably, one or more of her group of friends will wander in and explain what a great person she is and what's wrong with me.
  15. Hi Steve,

There is a photo of Jimmy Page captured on July 24th, by Michael Zagaris. He is shown clearly standing:

    michaelzagaris1977.jpg

    Meg

I also think the statements that Page sat down through most of the second day are an exaggeration. Remember, the '77 show included a fairly lengthy acoustic set as well as White Summer/Black Mountain Side, which he would be seated for. I've never seen any photos from that day of Page sitting down playing the Les Paul or the Doubleneck.
  16. Since Myers was born in 1930 and the bulk of Regardie's occult manuscripts were published before 1938, one would have to ask what he was actually reviewing...

    Meg

In addition to the Crowley collection, Myers also had other books like a first edition Abramelin the Mage, first editions of Regardie books, and more. Myers even stated that Regardie used to send him manuscripts to review before publication.
  17. I'm surprised Woody and Jimmy got on well. This is from Ron Wood's autobiography called Ronnie (p. 161) I recently finished reading:

"Meanwhile I was met at the door of the Wick by Krissie [Wood]. The relationship was petering out. I took a barrage of abuse, she was saying she didn't love me and had planned to divorce me anyway. Then she confessed she loved Jimmy Page and had lived with him for months often wearing nothing but a sheet, while I was having my fling with Patti Boyd. I couldn't handle this any more, and realized this was my chance. I decided, it's now or never, and left."

Ronnie Wood divorced Krissie in March 1978.

    Meg

It may appear that way but it isn't so. No Page/Wood jam in Putney - ever. The jam they did have in Plumpton was to benefit a football charity; nothing to do with golf. Those links and that Stones author are wrong.
  18. Quite possibly Monday the 1st, since the announcement had been made on the Thursday July 28th that *all* concerts were being cancelled. See newspaper clippings.

    Meg

Here's a few more headlines from this time:

    ? Aug (?) 77 (Unknown)

"30,000 Tickets Sold, Zeppelin Concerts Canceled at Arena"

Ad: Led Zeppelin live at Civic Arena Pittsburgh August 9th & 10th 1977 CANCELLED
