  1. The 80s poll is just as farcical. Culture Club has been leading now for the last 2 days.
  2. For Robert Plant and the Band of Joy, it didn't. For Obs-Tweedle, prior to Robert joining, apparently it did happen. Meg
  3. Epsom author David Williams recalls his early friendship with Jimmy Page in his new book The First Time We Met The Blues: http://www.surreycomet.co.uk/news/4736002.Author_recalls_friends_with_Whole_Lotta_Love/ Meg
  4. In my previous discussion with Bill Bonham, he has stated that Obs-Tweedle played at the Star Club in Hamburg. At that point Robert had not yet joined the band. They picked up a guitarist Scotty for the trip though. When the band returned from Europe, they performed at Dudley Zoo, where Robert was in the audience at asked to join the band. This all happened in March/April 1968. What we need is an advert showing the date of the Dudley gig, which would pinpoint when Robert joined the band. Meg
  5. Billboard has announced it's changing it 200 chart rules to include catalog albums, from 5 December 2009. Under existing rules Led Zeppelin's first ten albums if reissued, could only chart on the Comprehensive Albums Chart, Top Pop Catalog Albums, and Top Comprehensive Albums. http://www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/content_display/industry/e3i603a2426afda5aaafb64750aacecd192 Meg

  8. If Stone boy and his automated ballot box stuffer are still around, I don't think anyone bar the Stones will win. Their vote never dropped below 54% in the final three days. Only 3 of the artists scored above 10%, and the rest on average barely made it under 1.0%.
  9. After 40 years apart, Fleur De Lys is set to reform and play at the 100 Club on Wednesday (11 November), and also release a recording of 'Wait for Me'. Jimmy Page sessioned with them during the 1960s, producing and performing on a number of tracks. http://www.thestar.co.uk/doncaster/Dan-to-play-again-with.5806264.jp Meg
  10. Strange coincidence. While looking on Amazon.com for any new Led Zeppelin and related publications, I came across an author called Jim Page (not the same as our Jimmy). He's written a book called "Deserts" (Extreme Habitats): http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1846965004/ Note the cover: It's the same Monument Valley butte, used on the DVD cover: Meg
  11. I don't think the stones total will be overhauled. The fan is using some sort of software which allows him to vote 50 times a second. It also appears he's connected with running the site somehow. Someone mentioned that in the comments thread. Meg.
  12. Whenever the Rolling stones dips to 55%, it then picks up votes again to return to 60%. The rs fan is not allowing anyone to get anywhere near it.
  13. Actually multiple voting is allowed. See the "vote again" message on the vote button. In tersm of vote stuffing perhaps you should tell the rolling stones voter that. Within the space of one hour this morning, Led Zeppelin's vote went from 54.9% to just under 19%, while the rolling stones vote went from 11.3% to 61% (and still climbing as I type this). See the comments sections on the voting board.

  17. Following in the footsteps of Jimmy Page, Paul Rodgers is to receive an honorary degree. A Doctorate of Letters from Teesside University: http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/news/teesside-news/2009/11/05/music-legend-paul-rodgers-of-free-set-for-honorary-teesside-university-degree-84229-25093741/ Meg
  18. It's that elvis fan from polldaddy. He sprays the comments pages with "ELVIS IS No.1!", "ELVIS HAS MY VOTE", under various names. When the polls doesn't go his way he accuses the host site of rigging the votes. It happened on the best live band vote earlier this year. I'm pretty sure it's the same bloke. He uses the same spelling mistakes and grammar.
  19. Congratulations are in order for Sam. Only a few days ago Led Zeppelin was coming in a poor fourth last behind all those other artists on that list. They're now first, no doubt due to the link being advertised here yesterday.
  20. NPR is currently seeking votes for their 50 Great Voices. Robert Plant has made the final short-list. Voting closes in December. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=114013402 Meg
