Don't assume your leg pain is originating from your joints, it may be muscular. I have had the same symptoms with leg pain which worsened when lying down. I have found Pilates and yoga have helped tremendously with aches and pains. I started doing stretch and basic yoga along with Pilates 4 years ago and have had very good results. I am fortunate to work with a personal trainer, she stretches my hip flexors, quads and hamstrings which has relieved my leg pain.

Like you, I assumed the pain was from my joints. The best advice I can give you is to try stretching under the guidance of a professional trainer either one on one or join a class. Having a MD clear you first is probably a good idea to make sure there is no joint disease. Even if you do have some arthritic changes a physician would probably clear you to do stretching with a qualified instructor.

  2. Hi Steve!

I thought I'd bump up some of my old questions to see if you found any additional information. I apologize in advance if I missed the replies to any of them. Plus, I added a couple of new ones. :)

    Older Questions:

3.) Has it been confirmed by Robert (or any member of the band) that Hot Dog was written about the Texas groupie Audrey Hamilton?

On the old board there used to be an interview with JPJ and RP after the Knebworth concerts, during that interview Robert was discussing the individual tracks on ITTOD and stated the song was about Audrey. I'm not sure if that interview is still available on the forum at present. The interviewer was J.J. Jackson.

    Danny Goldberg, Publicist/Swan Song President

Photo: posted by Miss Pamela from RO

Goldberg was hired by Led Zeppelin through the prestigious PR firm of Solters, Roskin and Sabinson. Goldberg was in charge of the firm's rock n roll division. He began working for the band in 1973, a few months after the release of LZ's 5th album, Houses of the Holy. The band were due to start a US tour in May of 1973 and wanted better press. Goldberg was in his early 20's and very much in touch with the current US music scene and business. He was young and experienced, had hair longer than the band's members, was a vegetarian, he did not smoke or drink alcohol. He was quickly accepted by the band members. Interesting side note, Goldberg had once written for Rolling Stone magazine and he was able to use that experience to suggest ways that LZ could navigate around the magazine in order to get better press from them. He developed an effective strategy for interviews and press releases for the upcoming US tour after the HOTH release.

In 1974 Swan Song was launched and Goldberg was hired away from Solters, Roskin and Sabinson to run the new label from offices on Madison Ave, NYC. He continued in that position until 1976, at that time Peter Grant removed him from the US arm of the label, closed the UK operation and moved the label to Montreux, Switzerland.

Goldberg recently wrote a book, "Bumping into Geniuses - My Life Inside the Rock n Roll Business"

This was all the info I could find, if anyone else can add to this, please do!

    Blocoboy,

Interesting! The last ad you posted is the first time I've ever seen Obstweedle spelled without the "H".

The only other place I've seen it spelled this way was in the liner notes for 66 to Timbuktu which were written by Plant. It seems in many interviews over the years, it has been spelled with the"H". This is probably why there is always so much confusion about the correct spelling of the name.

    Good find.

  5. I came across this on RO forum posted by "Wailing Sounds"

This was an interview with RP talking about his early influences and the bands he sang with in the early years before Zep. The magazine was SOUNDS, not sure of the publication date but the pic of Plant on the front appears to be early 80's.

Enlarge photo, if you mouse over pic an arrow cursor will appear, click on that and it will enlarge the pic further so you can read the text.

  6. I figure that he grew the goatee to cover facial wrinkles, if I could grow a mustache and goatee, I would, to hide my lines and wrinkles. Of course I don't think my husband would be "into that look" on me. :D

I hope he doesn't shave, I always liked the Viking Bob look he had going on in the early 70's

  7. No

OK, first of all..... this made me LOL!

Now, I feel like this  and this :bagoverhead:

Coda, Nine and Glicine, is there hair on his face in the pic from Womad? I admit my eyes aren't what they used to be but I didn't think they were that bad!

I'm confused......I know he had facial hair in the pics with Clapton. Are the Womad pics recent? I thought his Womad performance with Justin Adams was very recent.

Help me, I might as well admit now that I did not realize that the person RP was shaking hands with at the car race thing was Clapton :bagoverhead: so my eyes must be much worse than I thought!!!!!!!

  8. You're right Lynn- it would be cool if you could scan the pic? I have no idea where my copy is, or if I even still have it.

I would be glad to scan the pic if I knew how to do it!! I am somewhat computer illiterate, (still). I'll work on it and try to figure it out. :)

Someone here on the forum will probably get it scanned and up before I do and I'm OK with that too!!!

  9. Belated thanks for all the kind words guys!

Thought I'd add a couple of things - first is a photo I took of Peter Grant in 1981

    Geeee.jpg

and this is an article about Richard Cole's 1978 wedding - its not that great a scan, but has a couple of pics you may be able to make out - including one of the very rare ones of Robert in 1978, and a bizzarrely mis-named Benji Le Fevre!

    colewedding.jpg

I guess I really need to dig that ^ out and re-scan it - will get round to it eventually. B)

I remember this thread from the old board Knebby, I'm glad you're moving it over to the new forum. It's nice to re-read it.

The pic you posted re: Richard Cole's wedding.......well..... there's a similar pic from the wedding in Cole's book, STH. Robert is in this one also but his head is turned towards Benji Le Fevre.

Almost hesitated to mention Cole's book because I know you don't favor it but it does capture a time period when Robert wasn't photographed much.

  10. I wanted to find some info about the Crawling King Snakes so I thought I'd check on the official Led Zep site and found this thread..I was suprised to find that their is little or no stuff about Rob3erts early career.

I don't know how much of the stuff I have has been seen before so If it is old hat just tell me.

Here's an interesting item from the Walsall Observer dated 25th November 1966.

Please excuse the quaility of the pic (I think it's well known though). The pic and article belong to each other.

    bahamas006.jpg

The following article is worth a read.

    walslisten001.jpg

WOW, Blocoboy, thanks so much for the article. I find the last paragraph very interesting: the names of the band members, Robert is listed as Rob3ert Lee. I've never read that he used any other name other than his actual name, Plant. Great info!

  11. I saw Lori with a baby in a buggy at a show in LA in about 1985 but I can't remember whether it was a Firm show or one of Robert's. I do remember being told (not by her) that the baby was Richie Blackmore's , but as I've never had a lot of interest in Lori I never followed up any enquiry into that and have absolutely no idea as to the possibilty of it being true.

    Hi Knebby,

In Pamela's book, "Let's Spend the Night...." she wrote, "Lori has had several long term relationships, one of which produced her son Sean, who is now nineteen." Book has a copyright date of 2007.

Lori also stated in the book that she worked as an assistant to Richie Blackmore but doesn't state what year/years she was in his employ. She listed several musicians she was involved with over the years but never mentioned that Blackmore was one of her love interests. Of course, maybe she just left that information out of the discussion. :)

    Empty your PM box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. Well, since it is now November 21, I am compelled to tell my story. Twenty two years ago today, I went into labor prematurely, and my first son was born 3 months early. He lived for a week and died on Novmber 29th. There is nothing worse in the world that can happen to a person than to loose a child. When you loose your parents, you have lost your past. When you loose a child, you have lost your future. So I totally understand what Robert meant by his statement. The thing that saved me from unrelenting grief is that I got pregnat again almost immediately and had another son almost a year later in December. I had to get over it to be a good mother to my second son.

Perhaps Robert associates being in Led Zeppelin with Karac's death and can't bear to participate again as a member of Led Zeppelin.

So sorry to hear about that and I'm glad for you that you had another chance, although I'm sure there is still alot of pain for you about your firstborn.

Perhaps your last statement is true, I would think it plays a major part in his decisions, as he said in the interview. There is probably other things about that time in the group that are deciding factors for him as well.

Maybe others can post interviews etc. were Robert talks about this time specifically, that way the subject might fit better into the context of this thread.
