  1. You mean High Hopes? Because that's the song the title is in. Specifically "the ringing of the division bell had begun". You're right though, it's an absolutely gorgeous song. Almost anthemic.

You are correct!! Listen to Elizabeth for the proper song titles! :D

    Awesome track.

  2. 1. new brakes (just the pads, but both sets)

    2. new tires (they're shot--these have top priority)

    3. new cv boots or joints, whichever my car has

    4. a/c compressor clutch

    5. new window gaskets

...and a few other things that I can't remember off the top of my head.

It's been a good car, it's just in need of some (pricey) maintenance.

    1. Gotta do it before you add turning the drum because you didn't change out the pads soon enough!

    2. I feel your pain, just put new shoes on our Yukon.

    3. The boot goes over the CV Joint and hold grease in place for the joint, you can eek by for a bit longer if you have Dave shoot some axle grease into the torn boot every few weeks.

    4. Please you live in Idaho.

    5. Damn fix those, you live in Idaho! :D

Still holding my XXX for one of those offers in your chosen profession....so you can fix your car and get to work!

Ah life in the US of A. :D

  3. Shut up you whiney fucking maggot (Denis Leary in there)! You grew up in this shit! I grew up at the goddamn beach! Bet your shit would tuck up if you spied a jellyfish while 100 yards from shore!

Who's cryin now Hickory Bitch?

BTW, you gettin any rain? We've been getting thunderstorms daily, but they stay up in the mountains. We get flash flood warnings, but no rain. :(

    :P

Scared of a jellyfish? Hell no!

    I've been to Big Surf

And almost caught some crabs. ;)

    :D

Anyway Axestroker, our weather has been much the same...we did get a downpour that lasted about 5 minutes last week but other than that, no-thing.

August is when the real fun starts though.....

  4. Ev, sorry you had to hear from Joel this day or any other....especially brought on by Spats, who should quit blaming his friend for not wanting to go talk to those girls, when HE should have left the friend and gone to talk to them on his own if it was that important to him.

Joel knows fuck all about beauty my friend, he's only ever been concerned that a girl should be young enough to get him thrown in jail, true beauty comes from the soul, and Joels sickness will blind him to that fact until his last day.

Spats, that last sentence can be applied to you as well...with some editing of course, but the sentiment is there...you'll never be happy as long as you keep looking for a partner while wearing those superficial specs.

  5. That's it. I always mix the two festivals up. Considering both of them are a good 40 years older than I am...

I'm just trying to imagine the shock experienced by people showing up for the Monkees and being killed by Hendrix first thing

But that would put you in a currently infantile state.

The Monkees were fans and asked Hendrix to be on their tour, it of course didn't work out but probably helped immensely from a marketing standpoint. Now people wanted to see what was too bawdy for Monkees fans. B)

  6. that was before Hendrix became a superstar after woodstock

A well established Hendrix played Woodstock in 1969, you're probably thinking of Jimi's Monterey Pop festival appearance a few years prior.

The Monkees/Hendrix pairing was a mistake no doubt.

  7. The HEADING of the TOPIC is about 'KINGDOM COME', which was Arthur Brown's Band in the '70's.

It is NOT all about YOU or your answer!!!!

The full topic is Kingdom Come: If you like Zepp you'll like these guys. Then the thread starter posted 3 youtube vids of Kingdom Come the Zepp clone of the 80's. I replied TO THAT!

What in the Mcfuck do you not comprehend about this?

Jeez. Come in on sunday, we'll show you how a forum works!

  8. People are probably going to jump all over this.. but I have to get to the bottom of this.

What is the deal with The Who!? I am an absolutely HUGE fan of music (and anything else for that matter) from 1960-1975. I could never figure out why, but I cannot get myself to listen to The Who the same way I do with Zeppelin, Hendrix, Grand Funk, The Beatles, The Stones, etc.

Am I just listening to the wrong albums!? I mean, I have Tommy, My Generation - The Very Best of The Who, and a few bootlegs, none of which I can listen to all the way thru... what am I doing wrong?!

Everyone swears up and down by them.., but as hard as I try, I can't find anything spectacular about them aside from maybe the Monterey Pop Festival performance (which I'm afraid might only be good because there is video of it)

It just seems weird because I can literally count on one hand the number of bands that I DON'T like from this era... I love everything... except The Who.

Someone point me in the right direction. :(

I would check out The Who Sell Out, The Who Live at Leeds, Who's Next, and Quadrophenia. That represents a pretty good spread of their best years...if there is a Who fan in you, it will come out with one of these offerings.

If not? So be it! I can't listen to Grand Funk or The Stones!

    It happens....

  9. Am I the only one who doesn't like Tommy all that much? It's certainly an innovative album, and there are some songs I like on it, but...it just doesn't do all that much for me. I expected it to really blow me away because of all the praise it gets, but well, it just didn't. Is it just me? Can someone explain where I've gone wrong?

Some albums I have to rate by taking the time of creation into consideration, Tommy is one of those. Does it stack up to some other, later concept albums? Possibly not, but it's still a rock and roll landmark, but then again so Is Elvis and i could give a sh*t about his music.

    It's all subjective to taste!

For the record, I've found various live versions of the Tommy songs to be far superior to the original studio album..... In particular the "listening to you" refrain, there exists power in that piece of music rivaled by few others.

  10. Thinking about going to the Robert Plant/Alison Krauss concert on Saturday night in Asheville ! :notworthy: Rorer gave me the tickets for my birthday

I went back and forth with him in the Ipod lameness thread, Rorer's a cool person.

    Have a great time!

  11. haha:D not trying to brag, but if its the bass bass tom tom quadruplets, i can do those really easy, and fast too B) , single pedal of course

The point is not that many can... I have to switch from my Pearl Eliminator pedal to one with a lighter touch to do them, but just because I can do it doesn't mean I tell the world that JHB's licks are easy. B)
