Unfortunately that's no longer the case. With corporations moving operations out of the U.S. at breathtaking speed, the middle class in America is dying. You can't raise a family on what you make flipping burgers at McDonald's or on what you bring in from greeting customers down at the local Wal-Mart.

What makes you think that what works in Finland will work here? Finland is a vast, homogenous, single-language middle class country. America is a vast, super heterogenous, multi-language society with huge wealth and class differences.

The big mistake afaic was not keeping his death a secret. At least until we had time to sort through all the intel we got at his hideout and go after the rest of the AQ network before they even knew what had happened.

Another benefit - it distracts people like this from the crappy economy.

And the end of those techniques is what puts us in ever greater danger. The Obama admin's elimination of the CIA Detainee Program and its enhanced interrogation techniques will probably make it much more difficult to obtain the intel necessary to track down terrorists in the future.
