  1. I am going to see Better than Ezra tonight in Nashville. In the upcoming three weeks I also plan to see Dead Weather, and I am ging to a benefit concert featuring Alison Krauss and Union Station, Cherryholmes and The Steeldrivers at the Wildhorse Saloon.

However, I am too old and tired to keep up with Jahfin. He constantly amazes me. :)

  2. Spoiling is good! ;)

I've never passed a stone, and god willing I never will. I certainly hope your beloved doesn't have to either.

Y'know, I've heard that beer prevents stones. Maybe a bowl of Budweiser is in order!

Haha! Love the one you're with! ;)

Actually I named her Stella after my favorite beer, so a bowlful of Stella Artois would be in order! Haha

One of my friends gave her a sip of beer once (when I was distracted grilling burgers) and she hated it.

I really hope she turns around in the next couple of days.

  3. Sorry to hear that. I wonder if our pets sense what we go through when we know they're suffering. Whether they sense our distress and concern. I know when I've been ill or upset, dogs I've had have behaved differently during those times. I wonder if they know it goes both ways.

I think she knows I am worried about her. I have done nothing but stay in and give her 100% of my attention. My usual weekend routine is quite hectic. We have both been lying around watching tv and resting. I am doing everything I can think of to spoil her. Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in soon. If not, she will need to be x-rayed for kidney stones. The vet tells me she will not like the diet she will go on if she has kidney stones.

  4. I saw "The Hangover" last night and laughed so hard I thought I was going to quit breathing. Funniest movie I have seen in years. Pure escapism, no intellectual value whatsoever. I highly recommend this movie an an antidote to a strssful day at work or a bad week.

  5. Busy night last night but unfortunately I only caught the last 7 or 8 songs of the Gourds' set due to night classes. A little Gourds is better than no Gourds at all.

Looks like you have a great local music scene there in the Triangle!

  6. Percy wears a tie similar to the Kentucky Colonel tie in the Little By Little video. A bit more formal though. He'll probably wind up moving to Tennessee.

Not likely on the moving to Tennessee. I do appreciate all the positive attention and publicity he has brought to the Americana scene. Although album sales are flat or down, depending on genre, Americana album and ticket sales have increased since Raising Sand. I fully credit Plant for most of that increase. But there are no indications here in Nashville that he plans to relocate here.

For those that are interested in the growth of Americana during the past year, here is a link to a recent statement from Americana Music Association CEO Jed Hilly:

  7. I got an email from XM today announcing their new channel lineup, probably to get it in sync with the similar stations that are on Sirius. Some are new channels (all Springsteen, Elvis, Grateful Dead), and some are basically the same but with different names (Top Tracks is now Classic Vinyl).

Same thing happened to me, I went out for lunch and all the channel names were different on my XM. I did not read my email so I was completely stunned. I am thrilled to be getting Elvis and Springsteen in addition to Led Zeppelin. The Springsteen channel plays a lot of Bootleg stuff and concert music.....hint to whoever is programming the Zep channel.....

  8. eeeeyah, but I wasn't around for the first time and I still get what he's saying.

They literally play the same songs in the same order on the same day, later in the day.

I definitely agree with the material you suggested.

I'd even like to hear an occasional cover of a Led Zeppelin song. They're never as good, but they can be more fresh.

I wish they would let some of the regulars on this forum "drive" it, the programming would be much better. I can think of several that could "fix" it because like everyone else, I am getting bored with the repeats.

Steveajones, Knebby, Ninelives, Evster.....want to go work for XM/Sirius? Warning: one of the people driving and even DJ'ing the Country stations lives in my neighborhood and she claims it doesn't pay that well, so you probably would need to consider it to be public service. :)

  9. Lurrrrrrve the Cure!!! Been a huge fan for years. My favorite album has to be Pornography. It's so uber dark - fantastic. Didn't really jive on their later works as much. I really was into that whole sound - the cure, Joy Division, Depeche Mode, OMD.

I really liked all those bands but I liked the Psychedelic Furs too. I had a horrible crush on Richard Butler

  10. If you have a paid internet subscription to XM, it seems you can't get XM Led. Channel 39 is not listed. :boohoo: Earlier in the year when the station was on XM, it was available via internet. Over on Sirius now however, Channel 12 is available on the internet, so I cancelled my XM subscription and now going for Sirius for this reason.

When I first turned on Channel 39, I temporarily lost my signal (I was in my car), then the screen blinked "LOADING" for about 10 seconds before it came on. I found that strange. Sorry you had trouble but I think Sirius may be better anyway.
