  1. It's true. Obscenely high rock concert ticket prices are a relatively new phenomena. For a long time they were close to what the price of an album or c.d. was. (Which is the way it should be)
  2. Sometimes I like 'em cute and sometimes I like 'em voluptuous. A combination of both is very nice.
  3. I was a little too young to go to concerts when The Doors were big. I became a hard core fan in the late '70's when they had a big resurgence in popularity.
  4. Apart from everything else, I really don't get the feeling that the Jeff Beck Group had the chemistry needed to sustain popularity. Not only that, but if you are going to be a leader of a band (or anything else) you should be at least somewhat consistent and dependable.
  5. You guys do have a way with words.
  6. I have to kind of generally agree with you. Sometimes too much of a good thing is just too much. But to each his own.
  7. Pretty wife and cute baby. All the baby pictures you have posted are cute.
  8. She looks a little nasty looking, but she could be fun. --refering to the lady two posts up, not Phoebe Cates, who looks like the opposite of nasty.
  9. I agree that the ring finger is the worst finger to have injured for any electric blues or rock player. As far as the shows being all sold out, in Minneapolis (actually Bloomington) the show was not advertised--I think that by word of mouth only--- the show sold out in three hours. They should have played two shows like they did in '77. I remember reading a review that said that the band concentrated on the essential "energizer" type of songs, and I don't remember any mention of acoustic songs played. It was mentioned that the show was shorter than expected.
  10. Taken as a whole I know the '75 shows are considered to be good. I was wondering why they started the tour with a sick singer, an injured guitar player, and a new album still weeks away from actual release? Why didn't they just wait a few weeks to start the U.S. tour?
  11. The '75 tour did take a while to get going 100 percent. Plant had a bad cold that I think turned into pneumonia when they opened the U.S. tour in Minneapolis in January. They played a shorter than usual show that night. I am surprised they did not just postpone the tour for a few weeks.
  12. I read that interview and I could hardly believe what I was reading. Page was a successful studio musician prior to LZ. If you are in a band you can kind of do your own thing somewhat and make things adaptable if you play it well, but if you are a studio musician you are paid to sound like a million other people--and be adaptable on the spot. How could you not know about scales and barre chords? But that's what the article said.

    The pub

I'll have a bourbon and coke----with two shots of bourbon in a large glass with ice.
  14. Any word on what Page and PLant think of the final product?
  15. I like the songs from Please Read the Letter onward more than the ones preceeding it.
  16. At this point, I'm not sure it is humanly possible to negotiate anything with Axel.
  17. Are the records made after Morrison's death worth tracking down and getting? I think Manzarek sang lead on them???
  18. Yes it does. 12 bar blues-------I just like Cars His By My Window more. Have you guys heard them do Who Do You Love?
  19. That song should have been a big hit single IMO.
  20. I like The Changeling, but there are others I like more. I think the song did a good job of showing where Jim's head was at at the time. From L.A. Woman Cars Hiss By My Window is a good song a lot of people do not know about.
  21. Thanks for the post on the concert dates. I plan on going in June to see them.
  22. IMO "Machine Head" is one of the greatest rock albums ever----no one should be without it. Unfortunately, I just don't think the others are as good. The album that followed it, "Who Do We Think We Are!" is pretty good, and it does have "Woman From Tokyo" on it. The ablums that followed featured everybody's favorite singer, David Coverdale. They were a little funkier, but IMO not as good. "Hush" is a cool song by the early (pre-Ian Gillian) Deep Purple. I would say to get "Made in Japan", "Machine Head", and "Who Do We Think We Are?"
