  1. I once found it while searching for Page & Plant videos. I think its great to see this. Its the earliest video that I know from the P & P project (except Knebworth 1990).
  2. Steve, can you tell me anything about this session??? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_L405D_m578
  3. That must be the Jamsession: September 25(?), 1971 - Saturday, Kyoto, Japan: Jimmy Page/John Paul Jones/John Bonham afterhours jam BTW: THanks for that great pic!!
  4. I just watched the "DVD". In the music video of "Travelling riverside blues" you can see Jimmy playing in the studio. Is there any stuio- footage from recording sessions or rehearshals existing??
  5. But in an interview by the time BBC Sessions was released, he said that he played in a number of jazz sessions during his session period. He told that it helped him to learn more about chords. I'll post the interview a.s.a.p.
  6. Thanks Steve and Meg. I know about the 23rd November Gig. But I thought, that it possible could have been an "seceret" gig. And I couldn't believe that Mick didn't remeber the correct date. But if you say it was the 23rd gig, I'll trust you
  7. I didn't want to open a new topic for this so I write it down here (perhaps it is a "Mystery"): In the book "John Bonham- The powerhosue behind Led Zeppelin" Mick writes that he appeared on stage at the concert in Preston, Town Hall on November 27, 1971. I never found this gig listed on any concert-list. But it seems to me that it happened. He writes about it: "...it was an extra date added the original tour dates hat been confirmed, so the gig was never written about an there were no photos....it was about the only gig not to be recorded on bootleg" Steve, can you clear it up?

  10. Great posts! Thanks for that!

  11. Thanks meg. So, can we say that these are all dates with Rose?? And if I'm right, he just played with him in July 1968???
  12. As it is written in the book "Bonham- the Powerhouse behind..." Steve Dolan was the bass player on that tour. Sadly, there are no recordings of Bonzo with Tim Rose. Their set contained the numbers: -Morning Dew -Long Time Man -Hey Joe -Hello Sunshine -Foggy Mountain Breakdown (w. drum/bass solo) The only song i know from this is "Hey Joe"....
  13. I found this video: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=f0AIjnQ8t30 Sounds awfull imo!!!!! Where can i find the tourdates from the 1994 Tour?

  15. The US has the biggest fanbase of LZ. They sold 111,5 Million records there!!!! http://www.riaa.com/goldandplatinumdata.php?table=tblTopArt I'm from Germany and here they aren't that big. I'm the only fan i know at my age. But some older people are still great fans of them. Mothership became Gold status here an was in charts for a long time (about 7 month).
  16. Yes you got it. Jimmy is no technical player. He is more in "feel". The black dog solo is really great, especially live. I heared many covers of LZ-Songs but i never thought that a solo sounded better than the original. Do you know the cover-project "Hammer of the gods" with Mike Portnoy on drums and Paul Gilbert on guitar? Gilbert himself is one of the best guitar players in the world (in technic and speed the best, in my opinion). But he couldn't play the Heartbreaker solo better than Jimmy could do in 1970-1973. You can say about Jimmy the same that Gandalf said to Frodo: "You could learn all about you in a few weeks, but also after years you suprise me on and on." Ok maybe not in a few weeks....bad example
  17. That always made me wonder. Because the show on May 31th (well known as Bonzos birthday party) is pretty good for Page. His Stairway solo is one of his best. Really great playing. But another thing: In an interview in 1986 Page said that he can't even play bar chords and scales. I can't believe that. In many songs there are bar chords (Stairway, ten years gone, Thank you) and not just power chords. And of course there are great scales in many songs. You can't play such solos without knowing scales. Was he just confused? I think so. I'm also a guitar player.
  18. Steve, i remember reading an interview with Ian Paice. Can't find it again. He cleared up the whole thing. I remember he told "Bonzo came on stage. He wanted to play drums. I won't let him play and gave him a tamburine. So he played tamburine on the encore" I'm searching for the whole thing.... If i find it again, I'll post it here.
  19. Found this in a Deep Purple forum: "Another similar incident (though I'm not 100% sure if it really happened) is that bonham and blackmore were both in a bar together (1976) and eddie van halen came in and asked the two if he could have a drink with them ... both blackmore and bonham told him to piss off. For what its worth" In 1976 played with Rainbow.
  20. I won't open a new thread, so i ask in this. Does anyone know on which songs of Roy Woods CD "on the road again" from 1979 Bonzo plays? Maybe all?? Does anybody own the CD? Can't find any samples of the CD. Perhaps I'll buy it if anybody recommends it.
  21. Thanks. But listen: Eddie Van Halen told Guitar Player Magazin in 1979 the following: "....Blackmore. I once met him at the Rainbow with John Bonham when we where just playin clubs. I ran over to them an said hello, and they both locked up to me and said 'Who are you? Fuck off!'"
  22. Led Zeppelin Members and Deep Purple Members Hey Steve. Great Thread. Did ever a member of LZ play together with an member of DP?? I once read that bonzo appeared at a DP concert in 1976. And i read that Blackmore hung around with bonzo and they laughed at Eddie van halen. What is the truth about this?
  23. Thanks a lot SteveAJones. I searched for Rose and Bonzo with google, but couldn't find any detail.
  24. We know that Bonzo played and toured with Tim Rose in 1968, before joining the New Yardbirds. My question is: Are there any recordings of this? Or has anyone got the tourdates where Bonzo played with Rose? I'm interested in any information about Bonzo and Tim Rose. I know that before he joined, the Band of Joy opened for Tim Rose. Thanks for any infos!
